Welcome to the Devil's Jesters....

Devil's Jesters are closely related to gobblins and such creatures, and most of them love nothing more than to play nasty tricks on people that happen to come their way.
They originate from the moist soil from the Devil's grounds, being lil else than reincarnation of a wandering soul or a lost spirit. But through its creation, it becomes tainted and without memory of its past live. The ritual of creating a jester is simple, but getting all the items in place can be dangerous.

[Story]

Deep within an old forest, many strange things can happen without anyone knowing. Many tales have been told about such places, becoming both myth and legend.
But one thing is known, that many have been lured from their path, never to be seen again. There is a man-made walking path leading though the thickest of forests, as man always puts themselves before any other thoughts, and instead of going 'round the heavily grown forest, they brought forth the largest of machines and strongest of tools to cut their way through.
Even as the road was being made, various people began to disapear from work, though it was not often enough to be looked at as a problem by then...
Sometimes you can hear rumors from travelers that have walked the path, stories about the most vile of creatures, never seen out from-under the black shade of the trees. They talked with the sliest of tounges and the sweetest offers, tempting and spiced with cheap jokes and sarcasm.
Many know that one should not take a treat from a stranger, however friendly he may seem. But its easily forgotten on a long road with an empty stomage.
Though the best warning anyone could give a traveler going that path, is that when you hear the rattle of skulls, and feel a mocking presence, try your best to ignore them, because they can not touch you if you have not looked into their blank eyes....
Playing with a devil's jester can rarely be a good thing...

[Rules]

[01] Jester staffs are only available on flatsales, raffles and auctions unless I state that there is a custom/breeding slot open.
[02] The jester will not grow till it has been fully payed for. After a certain time has passed, it will possibly be put up in a adoption raffle or flatsale (timelimit is one week)
[03] Roleplay is not required except for breeding.
[04] Pet trades/bribes? Possibly, so ask about it.
[05] If you think your jester is growing too slowly, tell me politely. If you whine, it will take longer to grow.
[06] You may have noticed that there is no black and grey list. However, I do keep track of who's been nice and who's been rude, so watch yourself.
[07] Rules are subject to change, so check back every so often.

[The quest for a Jesters loyalty]

Some dare to wander off the path, knowing of the Jesters and demons that suround the area. Because not only can the jesters be tricky and sly, dangerous and wicked. But also can they be good guardians over their creator, creating a imunity among the trixters when traveling though the night on dark grounds.
Trying their luck, many humans have failed and died before getting even close to their goal, the Devil's swam... his grounds, where the jesters grow.
Its all about planting down your own staff, and hope it has enough essence to lure a wandering soul/spirit into it. The critter would grow, and be just like any other jester. But the only difference would be that it would obey its creature like a child to its parent.
And as I say: like a child to its parent, then I mean a jester can be the most stubborn thing if you dont get the right grip on it right away.

This pet will not mate (Breed), but its number can grow, and only the adults of their kind know how to make it happen.

The Devil's Jesters

[First stage ~ Staff]
A hand-made staff, from wood, by either a adult Jester or with strong essence
This staff will stand in the ground, dark moist soil is perefered for 'healthier' results.
Not any staff will do, but only a staff done by a Jesters hand, or with a strong feeling and a Jesters help.
Atleast one item has to be created with certain emotions to use as a lure for the next stage.

(In most all cases, The staff can be created by the owner (drawn by owners), the staff itself will stay the same, but the items and material used will be up to you)

[Second stage ~ Soul/Spirit]
The lure will slowly lure in a wandering soul, or lost spirit that is attracted to the certain emotion or essence that the lure contains.
As soon as it has caught its soul/spirt. it will begin to grow its roots deep into the moist soil, slowly forming a body for its caught soul/spirit.
The Jester still looks like a staff in this stage.

[Third Stage ~ Critter]
The soul/spirit will enter its new body as soon as it is fully formed, giving live to the strange creature that will soon claw its way out of the ground.
Memories and powers will often disapear from the soul/spirt, and begin to form new ones in this new live. But characteristics and behavior often tends to stick around.
From its first breath, it might rather resemble a young child rather than a infant. It basicly it has no infant stage.

[Forth Stage ~ Adult]
The critter will quickly grow, learning the ways of the devil's jesters and tricks.
A jester can only create a new staff with any skill at this stage...

[last stage ~ if you manage to kill your jester]
your jester can die! though not with age...

[Common/Uncommon Jesters]
are the ones that can be more than one of...

[Customed Jester Staffs]
are a unique design, a 'one of a kind'.
I will hold a 'customised staff' contest, and the best staff would be used to create the new jester with the staffs creaters chose lure. (some basics will most likely be handed out to some winners)
Make a staff with what?:
~A wooden staff with many different decorations from many different materials.
~Materials used must be mentioned!
~Lure must be desided: A emotion or a trait, not an element or such
Your Jester will not have custom lineart.

[Customed Jesters]
are just basic jesters, (either common or uncommon)
Choose what?:
~Skin and wing colors, and maybe patterns...
Again, your jester will not have custom lineart.

[The Workshop (Breeding)]

[How to get/make a jester staff: step by step]
Roleplay is Required for breeding.

[01] first you must have a home-made staff, carved by your own hand and essence if it is to be your own jester that will grow from its roots.
[02] somehow, you must get your staff onto the devil's ground and stick it into the moist soil, and get out of the forest with your life (this is the hard part, because many die trying)
[03] if the staff had enough essence and strong enough lure to trap a spirit, a critter will be created. It will know your presence, and chase you on your ways though the forest. (A lil good advise: make a good first impression)
[04] the jester will never harm its creator, even if it would be their dying wish, unless they would be willing to harm their own spirit. The stronger essence you put into the staff's making, the more of your spirit will be in it. And because the jester would be an extention to your own soul, you would not loose much by its death. (Jesters more often leave without ever returning, rather than kill or get killed by its own creator)
[05] however hard you try, you can never change a jesters ways....

[Material]

These are just ideas for material, the staff itself (the base) is always created from wood or a earthen material.

*horns, skulls, bones, skin, fur
*feathers, wool, patches, pearls, plants
*strings, wires, hair
*metals, glass, stones, gems, plastic
*paint, earth, wood, paper

When one is creating a Jesterstaff, you must collect your own material and construct the staff by hand or with tools. Don't let anyone else make your staff, or it wont be your jester.

Items

These are items that may affect your jester. You may use store credit towards their purchase.

Newt tail [2k] This potion will send your jester back a stage. [Cannot be used on staffs]

Elder berries [4k] These berries, when eaten, will grow your jester to the next stage. [Currently cannot be used on adult Jesters]

Stump Powder [1k] When this powder is taken, it will stop the growth of your jester permanently, unless you buy another item. [If your jester ingests stump powder and you feed it a newt tail or elder berries, it will move back/forward a stage, but it will not keep growing from there.]

Seedling [1.5k] If your Jester has ingested stump powder, this seed will make it start growing again. [Will become effective about 2 weeks after purchase unless you rp]

Reverse Wood [5k] This is a fun one. When your jester comes in contact with this wood, it will grow backwards, then it will grow normally back into an adult. [Adult Jesters only]

Staff Supplies [10-15k] This includes wood, feathers, grass, beads, ect. If there is a breeding slot open, you may purchase this item and rp two jesters making the new staff and they will "breed." 1 staff is 10k. 2 is 15k. See owner for more details.

These Devils are not a RP-based pet..
but RP-ing them is quite a good thing X3 either within the circle of the Devil's Jesters, or in other places.... Your Jester will grow faster if you roleplay.

[Store Credit]
If you rp with your jester, you will get store credit. The more you rp, the more store credit you'll get. [Up to 5k.] Store credit can go toward the purchase of a jester [in a raffle, auction, or flatsale], a custom jester, a breeding slot, an item, or a familiar. [not available yet]. Store credit will accumulate very slowly, so if you intend to reach that 5k, rp as much as you can.
