Welcome to Khindrae Keep, in the world of Kindarr, the home of the legendary creatures known collectively as Khindrae. This land has been their home for eons past, but as it loses way to human developement, the Khindrae have agreed to enter the lives of humans as amiable, tame "pets."
A note about these magnificent creatures - they are as perfectly sentient as you or I; they simply cannot communicate in our language.

What happens if I don't roleplay my Khinder?
I don't mind at all. You don't have to roleplay if you don't want to, but there will always be perks for those who do.

Ohhh really? What sort of perks?
Oh you know, the usual. Increased fertility, faster growth, random events - the like.

What's the difference between Khinder and Khindrae?
Simple: Khinder is singular, Khindrae is plural.

And... how is it pronounced?
Very much the way it looks. Kin-dray, kin-der (rhymes with tinder).

Great. How do I get one?
There are several ways.
Check the Sales post for a list of upcoming flatsales, auctions, and raffles. You can also aquire an egg through a random event - although these are very rare; check the Events post for more information on those.

But wait. I thought you said events were for RPers? Doesn't that mean that people who are already RPing Khindrae are increasing their chances at finding another?
You can roleplay without a Khinder companion. =)

How often will flatsales be held?
Presumably once a month, but we'll see how fertile these Khindrae end up being.

Why do the certs say 'Flighted' Khindrae?
Because other species of Khindrae exist, they just haven't made themselves known to us yet.

Oh! And will they?
Eventually. =)

Like most creatures, Khindrae go through several stages of growth throughout their lifetimes. The rate of growth differes between each Khinder and is relative to who and what they're exposed to. For example, a Khinder in the care of a doting parent, surrounded by others of its type, is likely to grow with much more speed than a Khinder left to its own devices.

The Egg stage lasts 3-7 days. While in this stage, your Khinder is completely unaware of his or her surroundings, although some keepers claim that doting even at this stage will produce a healthier Khinder. The markings on the egg are pale reflections of the markings your Khinder will bear.

The Hatchling stage lasts 2-3 weeks. Your Khinder is most influenced at this curosity - expose it to a lot while its curiosity is so insatiable! As of yet, the poor thing will be clumsy and will frequently trip on its overgrown wings. Hatchlings always posses boundless energy and a love to learn.

The Fledgling stage lasts 3-6 weeks. Fledglings like to practice clumsy flight with the wings they have recently grown in to. Although their initial curosity is not nearly as strong, they are able to look at things and think in a much more logical fashion.

The Adult stage lasts indefinitely. By now your Khinder is its fully grown, graceful self; at this point he or she will begin to look for a mate. Remember that your companion is very nearly the equal of yourself in intelligence, and he may have even picked up a few simple words throughout his growth, but the formation of his mouth and tongue do not permit him to speak english well.

So you want to breed you Khindrae, eh? Well that's all well and good, but keep in mind that your Khindrae are just as smart as you are - if they don't want to breed, they won't. I need some sort of confirmation from both owners that the pairing is mutual on all fronts (a quick PM is fine).

Only fully grown Khindrae can breed, only males and females can reproduce, females are only able to naturally lay 3 clutches in their lifetimes, and the cost to breed is 4k (split between each owner however you choose). If you and your partner meet these simple requirements, and a breeding slot is open, then you're welcome to drop me [Khindrae Keep] a PM to solidify the details.

Once the trade is confirmed, your Khindrae will be led to a rather cozy room of their own for a couple of days. The Khindrae in question do not have to be lifemates - in fact, lifemated couples are rare - but I cannot express enough that the pairing must be consentual.

The number of offspring generally numbers from 3 to 5. Each owner has first pick of the eggs (please settle this between yourselves), with a reduced price of 2k each. The remaining eggs will be flatsaled, auctioned, or raffled off.

There are three main ways to recieve a Khinder: flatsales, auctions, and raffles. All events will be scheduled in advance, so be sure to check here to see when the next will be held.

All Khindrae sold in flatsales will cost 3k each.

Rules
1. No whining.
2. Only try for 1 egg per post.
3. You can only win 1 egg per sale, whether for you or a friend.
4. If you don't have the money, don't bother.
5. If you don't begin or complete a winning trade within 48 hours, your egg will be put up for resale.
6. YOU MAY NOT RESELL YOUR EGGS.
7. Don't mope if you don't get the egg you want, please - it's annoying.
8. Do not edit your posts.

Speed sales
Exactly what they sound like; at a pre-arranged time, I will repost the flatsale rules, including a hidden word to make sure you've read them. Then I will post "GO" in big, green letters. You are to post with the following form filled out. If you do not get your first choice, feel free to post again for your second or third - but be quick! The eggs will go to the first to claim them. After the winners have been announced, please send a trade request to Khindrae Keep.

Prompt sales
When the sale begins, you will have a given time - usually 30 minutes - to respond to an RP prompt posted. Your entries will then be judged on creativity, basic grammar & spelling, and effort in general. You are free to respond to the prompt however you'd like; poetry is fine. As always, winners will have 48 hours to send a trade to Khindrae Keep.

Random
Random sales work a little differently. We will roll a number outside of Gaia; we will give you the basic range, and you will try to guess it. The first to guess it gets first pick of eggs; the other eggs will go to the people closest to the number. In the case of two people guessing the same number, the person who guessed first will be counted. If the sale goes on for 15 minutes with no correct guess (though I doubt it will happen), we will take the closest guesser.

I'm not a big fan of raffles, so they will not be held very frequently. They will be held in different threads. You will be allowed to by a number of tickets for a set price within a certain amount of time; at the end of the given time, the winning number will be rolled.

Here we've a collection of items that will have very evident, very profound changes on your Khinder, from speeding its growth to stopping it, and even changing its gender.

If you would like to order any of the items below, first make sure there are some in stock! Then, send an order form to Khindrae Keep stating the item you'd like, and the Khinder you'd like to use it on (it must be one that you own). Then, send a trade for the given amount, with a subject of 'Item Shop', or something that denotes it as a trade for an item.

Keep in mind that you will be available to claim these items through random events in the thread; if you decide you do not want to use the item you find, you can always sell it to the shop for half of its going price. =)

Fiery Herb - 3000g
This rare herb - gathered from the deepest forest in the center of the lowest valley in Kindarr - posses a sap which stimulates the growth of your Khinder. It makes a Khinder grow one stage almost instantaneously (For use on hatchlings and fledglings only).

Green Bud - 3000g
This bud is plucked straight from the stem of a tree found in a tiny, remote oases in the middle of the Kindarr desert. Its sap contains a simple, non-lethal poison that reverses your Khinder's growth one stage (for use on adults and fledglings only).

A potion created from the sappy extract of several Green Buds; this potion reverses your Khinder all the way to its Hatchling stage. For use on Adults only.

Every now and then, something random happens. When you see one, the post will look something like this:

Random Event!
[This event is open for keepers only.]
You see a box lying on the floor - I wonder what's inside?

The first person to post (with anything along the lines of "-snags the box-" wink would get it; I would then post what was inside.
As mentioned by the tag, only people who already own a Khinder would be allowed to participate in this example event - most likely because the box contains an item of no use to someone who does not have a Khinder.

However. If you were to see the tag:

[This event is open for everybody.]

Then of course, everybody is welcome to participate in the event. It is in this way that eggs can sometimes be discovered, at no charge. wink

Okay, okay. So you want a Khinder, but there are no flatsales in sight. Alas - we do customs. They are expensive and limited, mostly to dissuade people from taking unfair advantage of them - plus, there are currently only one lineartist/colorist and one colorist, and they're doing just about everything else as well. You can't blame them for not wanting all the extra work, can you? x) (Please PM orders to Khindrae Keep with a title of Custom Order.) Please note: Customs can take up to a week to fill, although they are put in top priority. Thank you!

Partial Customs involve very slight lineart modifications; you can opt to have another set of wings somewhere, some extra spines, an extra tail (no extra heads, please), as well as the colors, the gender, and the basic designs you would like.

Full Customs involve a complete set of unique lineart (which is why they're so expensive). You tell us exactly what you want them to look like, the gender, the colors, the designs, and we'll make them for you. It will take a good deal of time, keep that in mind.

Pet Trades

You've found our weakness!

We're always open to pet trades from anyone, although it is up to our discretion as to whether or not we'll accept. Please don't be insulted if we don't - there are some pets we simply don't have time to take care of, and there's always the possibility that we're busy with things irl, and don't have the chance to design new Khindrae.

You're welcome to try us, though. =)

Note: We realize we owe a couple of people pet trades from past shops, but we have since fallen out of contact with them. If you would kindly PM Chimeric to remind her, she'll make you a Khinder ASAP.
