Gaian Name: Gatz TdaMax
Character Name: Kein Engel
Sex: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: November 13th
Blood Type: B
Appearance: Kein Engel's most striking features are his long white hair and his red eyes. He's about 5' 10" and weights about 190 lbs, with a compact and cat-like musculture. Normally he wears his jacket open, but he usually takes it off and tosses it somewhere when he starts to fight seriously. Wears biker gloves with the fingers missing to make handling his chain a little easier on his hands.
Parents: Sephiroth
Biography: Yet another Sephiroth clone created by Hojo, he wasn’t seen as a very promising specimen, and was ultimately discarded by Shinra in the aftermath of his creator’s “death” while he was still very young. Somehow he managed to survive the streets of Midgard and mature, growing up as a street thug; though he has mellowed a bit since his younger years . He’s one of the few surviving Remnants because he usually causes relatively little trouble, thus escaping notice. He also has an amazing strength of will that allows him to shut out influence from (or through) Jenova, which he does largely because he hates being ordered around by
anyone. He’d rather choose his own path in life.
Kein was a hardcore thug juvenal delinquent, until the day he slipped and fell into the Lifesteam while messing around near one of the old mako reactors. Kein's memory of what happened while in the Lifestream ten years ago is a bit fuzzy, though he vaguely remembers talking to someone named Aerith. A week later he woke up in a hospital, where he learned he had been rescued by one of his former mugging victims. Whither because of the near-fatal accident or the kindness he had been shown, the boy began to realize that something important had been missing from his self-centered lifestyle. He quickly became a much more tolerable person, even making sincere efforts to repent for some of his past actions. A few people welcomed the change, though most still remained wary of him.
For of the last ten years Kein has been traveling the world, seeing new sights and hoping his old reputation at home will fade a bit during his absence. He does odd jobs to support himself, stealing occasionally when that fails to keep him feed. He's managed to pick up a few useful things in his wanderings: a much better weapon, his materia, and some training in Wutra that has allowed him to greatly refine his fighting style. His punches are now strong enough to damage even Weapons--though obviously, he’d still need a lot of help in order to actually take one down. Kein has pieced together a lot about what happened twenty years ago, and apparently he thinks the heroes would be a really interesting group of people to hang out with. He’s been looking for them on and off for awhile.
Recently hearing that Hojo was still ‘alive’, Kein put his travels on hold and went back to Midgard to stomp out the man’s existance. However, he doesn’t really know much about computers… Now he’s looking for the heroes because they also have an axe to grind when it comes to Hojo, so he figures they’ll be able help him achieve his goal.
Weaponry: Martial Arts, used with "Mortal Coil" (a very long mythrill chain that he’s let soak in the Lifestream for several years, making it extremely strong)
Materia: Elemental (set to absorb) = Bolt, Counter Attack, Mug, Mime (all except Mime mastered)
Limit Breaks:
=Level 1=
--Chain Lightning-- Charges his weapon with a strong electrical current, which he then whips the chain at members of the enemy party, blasting his foes with lightning as they are struck. Basically a normal attack plus Bolt 3 on all opponents.
--Defiance-- Uses sheer willpower to shrug off (dispel) all negative status effects. He gains immunity negative statuses for the next minute or so until his rage dies down a bit. Not powerful but very handy, as this limit will automatically activate itself if he can’t normally take action (due to a status change).
=Level 2=
--Soul Shackle-- Focuses for a moment, then emits a blast of ethereal chains which bind the spirits/energies of his enemies, completely immobilizing them physically and magically. The effect lasts somewhere between half an hour (on *very* weak foes) and half a minute (on something *extremely* strong). Strikes directly at the “soul” of the target rather than the body, so it ignores usual immunities to status changes.
--Chain Reaction-- An adrenaline rush temporarily increases Kein’s speed, strength, and reflexes. His attack, defense, and evasion greatly increase, in addition to casting Haste on himself. The effect lasts about five minutes.
=Level 3=
--Breaker-- A thick shell of solid rock immediately forms around the target, immobilizing them for few vital seconds. Kein then quickly readies and performs a devastating martial art which strikes a key point in the enemy’s defenses, shattering the stony prison in the process. This specialized attack will crack even the strongest armor, lowering the opponent’s resistance to damage. Does massive damage against enemies with artificial or ‘natural’ armor of any kind, as well as ones made of ‘hard’ materials (such as robots).
--Rising Dragon-- Formed from his will, a field of energy in the shape of a Chinese dragon engulfs his chain as he plays it out to its maximum length. This gives him complete control over its movement, allowing him to grab onto opponents and then quickly proceed to combo them with the his weapon/dragon as he “flies” along by holding onto the chain. Enemy contact with the 4’ wide field around the chain causes a combination of Water, Bolt, Holy, and Non-Elemental based magic damage; as usual with multi-element attacks, an enemy only needs to be weak against one element for the entire attack to be extremely effective. Kein typical hits each enemy eight times each this way, before tossing them high into the air (throw is largely aesthetic, ignore in certain cases). He then grabs on near the dragon’s “head” and soars upward with it spiraling around him, lashing it against the enemies once more as he ascends. Kein reaches the top of his arc just about the time his enemies start to fall back to earth. At this point he reaches over and grabs one of them in his dragon’s “mouth”, holding it in front of his fist as everyone plummets back to earth, the rest of his chain/dragon trailing behind dramatically. The martial artist punches forward just as everyone starts to hit the ground, releasing the energy field around the chain in a devastating blast, hitting them one more time. ---So in short: 10 hit attack combo on each enemy, energy field does a lot of elemental damage of various types, lets Kein fly for a bit.
=Level 4=
--No Angel (Shattering the Chains of Fate)-- Kein temporarily taps into his dark heritage, increasing his power beyond human limits for a single moment. A set of ‘wings’ formed from white mako sprout from his back when the move begins, though they steadily darken during the attack until they become pure black. He then zooms around the enemy, punching and kicking them in a hand-to-hand version of Omnislash. The difference is that every strike he lands emits a ‘chain’ made of the same type of energy as his wings though the enemies’ bodies, this chain remaining benign until the very end of the attack. Once his ‘wings’ turn completely black, Kein flies some distance away and ‘pulls’ the wings off, shaping them into one last barrage of black chains. He then hurls each of the projectiles at an enemy, then drops to the ground. This last hit sets off a reaction with the energy he implanted in his enemies earlier, causing each ‘chain’ to shatter one by one and release it’s pent up energy in an internal explosion. Along with each explosion doing massive damage, this doubles the number of attacks he’s landed. ---The attack does physical and non-elemental damage, and with any Omnislash based attack, hits the enemy many, many times.
Other: A natural fighter with lots of experience, his strength, speed, stamina, and reflexes are much better than those of most people. His magic casting skills leave something to be desired, though, which could be one reason he tends to shy away from Magic and Summon Materia. Kein often steals from people, but (usually) not friends. He highly dislike computers, and tends to destroy them on sight unless someone stops him--he carries a Bolt materia with him at all times to help with this. Loves chocobos, but the feeling is usually not returned for some reason. His theme song is “Engel” by
Rammstein, obliviously, and he likes to whistle the haunting opening it has at odd moments. He has the song, along with a feew others, on an mp3 player he keeps in his jacket pocket.
