At the end of a small cul-de-sac in Barton is a wooden door with exquisitely carved trim of morning glories and hummingbirds. Inset in the door is a small stained glass window of a sunrise over a desert vista; central to the window is the image of a five-petaled, red and white flower.
Bells chime as the door opens. Inside is a wide room with matching tables and chairs, and here and there large, stuffed chairs with side tables. Lamps on the walls and magical glow-globes that can be moved with a tap of a finger provide light. Curtained windows front the left walls, smaller ones the wall facing the street. Off to the left a small door says, "Patio closes November 3rd." A short distance away from that is a doorway with a beaded curtain, with "Necessity" typeset in a swirling font above it. On the wall beneath the main window sits a wooden toybox, carved to resemble a priate's chest.
A glass-case counter runs across the room close to the back, with set of of swinging doors behind it. Tantalizing scents waft from what must be a kitchen. Coffee pots, carafes, and a small soda fountain rest on a smaller counter set perpendicular to the main one.
The walls are painted a soft sea-blue, with lilac, rose and jade accents. Sand paintings reside in crystal cases on the walls. Pots with aloes, jade plants, flowering cacti, and a flower that matches the design in the door window are carefully positioned not to block easy paths for customers and workers. Ivy and morning glories cascade down from hanging planters.
A board supported on the wall behind the main counter lists a menu.
