What's this contest all about?
We want some talented Gaians to draw some amazing art based on the current event: Aliens, UFOs, Zurg-Gaian romance and drama, secret codes, shadowy organizations-- and whatever else might happen in the coming weeks! As long as it's related to the event, (almost) anything goes.
This contest will end on December 27th, so you'd better get crackin'!
We're running simultaneous contests in the Resistance Forum and the Zurg Forum. All pro-Gaian art should be entered in the Resistance Forum, and all pro-Zurg art should go in the Zurg forum. Enter one, or both, or neither! Do whatever you want, we're not your mom.
How do I enter?
What are the guidelines for entries?
How shall we judge this glorious art?
Judging will be based 50% on user voting and 50% on votes by Gaia's panel of artists. Art will be judged on originality, quality, and relevance to the event.
The prizes! Shut up and tell me about the PRIZES!
A total of 22 prizes will be awarded: 11 for the Resistance Contest and 11 for the Zurg Contest. Each of these forums will get one grand prize, five second place prizes, and five third place prizes.
These prizes are site items, not physical merchandise.
When will the winners be announced?
This contest will be closed on December 27th. The winners will be chosen and announced no later than 10 business days from that date. The winners will be contacted by a Gaia administrator to arrange delivery of their prizes.

Update on International Entries:
People have been confused and upset about the rules against international entries. We hope this clears it up:
Due to mind-boggling legal complexities, we can't award prizes to anyone outside of the United States. However, people from anywhere in the world are allowed and encouraged to enter the art contest anyway.
If we know that you're from outside of the US, however, we aren't allowed to give you any prizes if you win. sad

How do I enter?
- Create a new topic in either the Resistance Contest Forum or the Zurg Contest Forum. Please make a new thread for every submission.
Submissions in the Resistance Forum should follow pro-Gaian themes, while submissions in the Zurg Forum should be pro-Zurg.
Each individual entry should be posted in ONE FORUM OR THE OTHER-- not both! You can enter both contests, but you must do so with two different pieces of art.
Put your artwork in the first post of the thread. One entry per thread, please!
There's no limit to how many things you can submit, but go for quality, not quantity. Rushed submissions without any effort put into them will just clog up the works!
What are the guidelines for entries?
Art must be no larger than 640 by 640 pixels and 160kb in size.
Art must be original work! If you didn't draw it, don't enter it!
Please do not use copyrighted material.
Your art must not be traced or copied! Your work will be disqualified if it's substantially similar to an existing piece of art.
Your art must not contain any inappropriate material. Keep it PG-13, please!
No offering bribes in exchange for votes/thread bumps! If your entry offers any promise of gold, items, or anything else in an attempt to influence voting, your entry will be disqualified.
