Hello, chaps. Sorry to have to drag you all into the Chatterbox (I assure you I am in full riot gear, and I suggest you all take refuge in my hat for (the duration of the discussion), but there are a few things I wished to discuss without them being instantly eaten up by 5300 pages of intellectual conversation wink . Do help yourself to tea and biscuits.

IntelliGuild
While I expect the main thread to continue to be the focus for all the intelliquestions, letter challenges and such, I believe it would be useful to have somewhere to host the increasing number of spin-off threads, and somewhere you fellows can host your own threads for puzzles, competitions, tekking and whathaveyou (I have noticed a few enterprising people coming up with their own points-for-prizes system, which is a lovely idea, but can be a little confusing in the main thread). If any of you have opinions on this, or ideas for threads, subforums etc, this is the place to bring it up. smile

Plus, of course, any other subject that may be lost in the main thread!

(Discussions below are no longer applicable!)

Mods Wanted!
Lastly, I'm sure it has not gone unnoticed that I struggle with thread upkeep when I have a lot going on IRL (such as coursework projects). I have a busy couple of months coming up soon, so it seems about time I started looking for thread moderators. Lava has kindly taken over running of the WotD, for which I am grateful. If anyone else is interested in helping out, please mention it here or PM me; if you would like to nominate anyone, you may feel free to PM me with your suggestions as well. Please don't offer help just to be nice - while it shouldn't be much actual work, I am looking for people who will be able to help out regularly and long-term. Duties will include managing the thread in my absence, taking puzzle answer submissions, and/or (when I have come up with a workable system) asking intelliquestions; I expect to need guild mods in the future as well. Note that, as mods will have access to puzzle solutions and the intellipoints masterlist, mods will be unable to claim intellipoint prizes (though may of course turn in points before accepting a mod position or wait until they hit the next prize boundary if they wish; current letter challenges, page prizes and so on are not affected).

Intelliquestion Timetable
I am looking to draw up a timetable of sorts in order to have daily intelliquestion "slots" in which there will be guaranteed questions; as things are, it's all a bit slapdash and I'm rather easily distracted by thread conversations and such, which often ends up in my forgetting to ask questions at all! Time slots will be slightly different each day, as I want to make sure people in different time zones and with different commitments all get a shot at them. That being the case, it would be extremely helpful if everyone would specify their time zone, and if applicable, the time of day most easily accessible for them (say, a four-hour time slot). Once it is drawn up, I will be posting the timetable here for feedback as well.

New timetable is below, and will be operational from Tuesday. I am open to changing time slots over the next week or two, so if anyone has any feedback or suggestions, or can't find a time they like, let me know. Questions on Fridays and Saturdays will remain random for now; depending how things go over the next few weeks, I may add timetable slots for them as well, or remove some. Remember these are just time slots in which there will be guaranteed questions; there may still be questions at random times as well.

Sunday GMT 2-4am, EST 9-11pm, CST 8-10pm, PST 6-8pm
Monday GMT 1-3am, EST 8-10pm, CST 7-9pm, PST 5-7pm
Tuesday GMT 10pm-12am, EST 5-7pm, CST 4-6pm, PST 2-4pm
Wednesday GMT 11pm-1am, EST 6-8pm, CST 5-7pm, PST 3-5pm
Thursday GMT 12-2am, EST 7-9pm, CST 6-8pm, PST 4-6pm

Thank you for your time!

A very good idea (the timetable) , but-- would it be possible with the multi-national Intelli-thread?

Also, I would help contribute to an Intelli-Guild as well. 3nodding I'm sure 'Teel would contribute what he has as well.

I would love an Intelli-Guild, and happily donate some gold towards it from my quest.

I would also love to be a mod, though I fear my own sporadic nature in regards to Gaia...though I would try to be on more often for modding-ness.

So, you are Pacific Time then. Right now it's six pm for you?

And, it's just a rough idea of what times are basically good for people, I think, Fan. General time frame may be easier, you know.

The timetable is good, I agree. I am EST, and probably will not be online before 4 PM during the weekdays. I'm usually around anywhere from 4, 5 PM to somewhere around 1 or 2 AM, if I'm on the computer. *insomniac-ness*

I think an intelli-guild would probably be good. There is still the worry that it would take attention from the thread, but I seriously doubt it would take that much away from it particularly if that's still where the questions are going. The way I see it, we'd probably be chatting it up and answering questions in the intelli-thread constantly, while the things that you mentioned would simply go in the guild as to keep them neat and tidy, ne? I think that would make things much easier.

Hmm... I'm not sure I'd be good at being a mod, but for the most part I am on pretty regularly and most certainly long-term. If there's anything you can think of that I might be able to do, though, please do inform me.
Timetable: Eastern Standard Time here. Weekends are the best, but not on Saturdays from 1:30 to 4:30 Eastern.

Saturday mornings and Friday nights are excellent. And Sunday nights as well.

Intelli-Guild: This is a great idea. I was going to start my own points, but it has gotten confusing in the main thread. Maybe...5 subforums? or 6. Main forum....

Subforums-Tektek, Mini contests, Vending [ whee ], Miscellaneous, and a few extras, maybe a lotto forum and a mini exchange

On the topic of mods, I would be glad to mod whenever possible, especially in the guild. My inbox usually has a lot of space, if needed.

I rather figured that much, Lava. 3nodding I myself am in central time (currently 9.15 or so...) But I know that 'Teel is going to be in South Africa for most of summer vacation, and I will be in New York during that time period.

*sigh* Nevermind, I'm going back to my Icecream...

Yes, I'm on Pacific Time, and it's actually 7:00 here. I'm generally online on the weekends, but I'm not online on Monday. I will definitely be here on Friday somewhere from noon to night time.... domokun

I don't see why not; even if I'm unable to completely cover everyone's possible online times, it won't exclude the possibility of random questions at other times. An idea of time zone coverage will certainly help, though.

That is what I had in mind, Pix. Somewhere to host all the spinoff threads and for others to host mini-threads if they would like to do so. smile I would never want the focus taken from the main thread, certainly, and puzzles and prizes will always be hosted there.

I will be making a list of everyone who is interested in modding and getting back to you all next week; it's not essential that mods must be online every day or other day, but regularly is a must, really.

Thank you for the offer, Demonic. I have had a couple of offers of old guilds from people, though, so I will wait and see how things work out. smile

I can definitely do regularity.
