Below are the rules that everyone must adhere to while celebrating this year's O-Bon Festival. I expect everyone who wants to participate to follow these rules; IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE!

    1. THERE WILL BE NO BASHING, FLAMING, MOCKING, INSULTING, OR GENERAL RUDENESS TO ANYONE'S DECEASED FRIENDS, FAMILY MEMBERS, PETS, AND/OR THEIR STORIES. DOING ANY OR ALL OF THE ABOVE WILL GET YOU KICKED OUT OF THE FESTIVAL AND OFFERED TO THE DEAD PERSON'S LIVING FRIENDS AND/OR FAMILY! If they kill you for that insult, then it's not my fault.

    2. This festival is free of charge. To get a ticket, simply go down to the links section of the thread, and copy and paste the code of the ticket. You may put it in your signature, journal, or wherever you like.

    3. You must adhere to the dress code. Check the dress code post to find out what is acceptable to wear, and what is not.

    4. You may BUMP this thread, but DO NOT advertise, spam, and post random nonsense. I prefer conversation to Bumps though...

    5. You may advertise this festival. Just copy the code of the banner you want to use and put it in your signature. I will also post the code for an admission ticket with a link back to this thread.

    6. Please follow all the rules about how to do what in each section of the thread. There will be things you can PM me, and others you must post in thread.

    7. When the Opening Ceremony, picnic area, shops, raffle thread, and Toro Nagashi Ceremony are ready for people, I will post a link to the area in its respective post. The opening ceremony will take on July 13, 2007 at 3:00 PM EST and close on July 15, 2007 at 10:00 PM EST.

    8. You may create avatars to look like a deceased loved one. They are not required, but something fun for the festival.

    9. You may enter both raffles, if you desire. However, you may only win one set. When all the slots are filled, I will roll one 100-sided dice for each raffle, and the winner will be the number that comes from the role. If you win one raffle, your name will be crossed off the other one. If you number is rolled again, I will simply re-roll.

    10. Dead loved ones coming back for a visit can be an emotional time. Crying, sobbing, hugging, and all emotional reactions are normal. Do not feel ashamed by any of them, you are encouraged to show emotion.

    11. Do not make fun of anyone if they show emotion. Period.

    12. At the Toro Nagashi Ceremony, we will be sending loved ones back to the world of the dead. For the sake of natural order of the universe, you must let your loved ones go. Again, crying, sobbing, hugging, and all emotional reactions are normal. Do not feel ashamed by any of them, you are encouraged to show emotion.

    13. This is a joyous festival, celebrate with deceased loved ones!

Below are some of the memories that the living have of our dead loved ones. If you have a story you wish to share, then please PM Lorelei Yeager with your story.

Stories of the Dead
Blood Stained H3art
My story about my grandfather,

It was christmas of 2000 and we were sitting there opening presents and he got a new camera, a polroid. He wanted it for a long time so he was snapping pictures everything. I had never seen him so happy. We had our picture taken togther. It's the only picture I have of him. He passed a few years later, and a year before he went he made me promise him that I would finish getting a education. So that is what I am now doing I'm going to college and keeping my promise I made.

Lady Stray
I remember mine. I was 17 when she passed on. I hadn't been around much in the couple years before her death, however. I left home at 15, being totally rebellious against everything. I knew she was sick, but I didn't realize how sick until I my grandmother came to me and said, "Sister (that's what she used to call me ^^), you need to go home and spend some time with your mother." That's when I knew things were much worse that I had thought. She never said anything though. Never complained. Always kept a brave face and seldom let how bad she was actually feeling show. I think that's what I admired most about her. She was a very brave woman. A fighter. I learned much later she had been diagnosed with type 4 breast cancer when I was 12 and had been given only four to six months to live. But she never gave up and turned 4 months into almost 5 years. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her and miss her presence.

I have asked a couple of shops to join in this festival by selling limited items for this festival. If you want to join the list of shops and sell a limited, then please PM Lorelei Yeager. When the shops are open, I will take out the list of shops, and replace them with a link to the thread...

I am enforcing a dress code, like last festival, on everyone who is taking part. The reason is that even though this is a festival, you will be acting out the part of the good host to your deceased friend and/or family member. Naturally, you want to look your best for your guest. Some clothing will not be allowed at the festival, and some will.

I prefer that everyone who comes be dressed in a Kimono or Yukata; if you want, you may also wear the Gung Xi outfits. Other outfits are allowed, but in general, should not show any part of the stomach. If you cannot afford to buy a Kimono, Yukata, or Gung Xi outfit, then go through your starter set. You may wear the starter Polo Shirt, the Starter Khaki Shorts, and the Starter Sandals. You may also wear, if you want to dress up a little more formal, the Dress Starter Slacks, the Dress Starter Shoes, and the Dress Starter Shirt. Try to keep in mind that it will be summer, and dress for both the weather and appropriateness.

Some items you cannot wear at all to the festival. They include Pimp Sets, Punk Starter Sets, Baggy Starter Sets, army, pirate, UpsideDown sets, Hand Knit Top sets, peasant sets, G-Corp Items, S-Corp Items, and shirts and pants that expose too much skin. Try to avoid long sleeve clothing, as this is a summer festival.

This is a list of what I still need to do before the festival opens. If you can provide any of what I need, please PM Lorelei Yeager.

    1. Hire someone to make and sell floating paper lanterns for the Toro Nagashi Ceremony.
    2. Get more shops to participate in the festival
    3. Get the word out about the festival
    4. Set up festival thread
    5. PM Mod to move thread to correct forum
User Image

The rules below are rules in general that need to be followed throughout the festival and before. If I have missed anything, then please PM Lorelei Yeager.

    1. When the shops open, I will give a large amount of freedom to the shop owners and how they want to run their section. You must obey all the shopkeepers' rules and wishes. If they want you to PM an order, then PM it. If they want you to post an order in the thread, then post it. If you complain to me about not getting an item, and the shopkeeper tells me that you didn't follow their rules, then I will side with the shopkeeper.

    2. If a Mod PMs me during the festival, and tells me that you have been selling stolen items, then I will ask that Mod to delete his / her post. After that, I will then ban that person from participating in this festival. If you do something illegal, then I will show you no sympathy.

    3. During the last festival, some thoughtful Gaians decided to raffle off kimonos / yukatas to help other festival goers get something nice to wear. I will not stop anyone from making threads like these, but you must be aware of two things. One, there must be a valid disclaimer saying that this is not an official raffle, the only official raffles have the proceeds going to Flowers of Japan. Two, if you are caught defrauding, I will leave you to the mercy of the Mods, and they will decide what to do with you. If you want a valid disclaimer, check the code below...

Disclaimer-This raffle, auction, or selling event, is not part of the official raffle held by Lorelei Yeager and The Second Annual Gaian Bon Festival. This event is run by the user, and all claims of responsibility reside with the user. I understand that if I am caught cheating and/or scamming, that Lorelei Yeager and The Second Annual Gaian Bon Festival are not to be held responsible because this was not an official raffle sanctioned by either.

    4. You may BUMP this thread, but I prefer chatter.

    5. If you want to add a name to the List of the Dead, St. Francis' Keep, or you want to add a story to Stories of the Dead, then you must PM Lorelei Yeager with your information. If you post it in the thread, I will not be able to see it.

    6. All questions must be PMed to Lorelei Yeager. Again, if you post in the thread, I will not be able to find it.

    7. If you want to sell a limited for the festival, you must PM Lorelei Yeager. If you post it, I will not be able to see it.

    8. I might as well make this a formal rule; all weapons, be they baseball bats, Katanas, and any items that may be considered as weapons are banned from this festival. If a weapon has a jewelry option, then you may wear it. However, you are not allowed to take the jewelry and use them as weapons.
