Mischief Managed :: A Marauders Discussion Thread

In all my love for the Marauders, I created this discussion thread to simply discuss topics involving the Marauders. Hopefully this thread will stay alive, with your help, and one day I may become a better manager. ^^;;

Rules:

2. Don't insult people's opinions, or people themselves on this board, everyone is intitled to their own beliefs and opinions without being ridiculed for it.
3. I don't care if you discuss slash pairings, as long as you do not get out of hand with it.

If you need topics to get you started, I've got a few. Some are about all of the Marauders and some are about just one or two of them. (Any suggestions are welcome.)

~What is your opinion on Peter Pettigrew? (Don't kill each other with this one.) And why do you think he betrayed his friends, rather than sacrifice his life?
~If you were comparing the Marauders' animagi forms to their human forms, do you think there is a signifigance as to why JK chose that specific animal? (Could it be foreshadowing?)
~What do you think about the RemusxSirius pairing? Could it be canon, or are they just really good friends who would never, ever be lovers?
~What is your opinion on the Marauders as a whole? (Their relationships with each other - not sexually, but as friends - how they treat each other, etc.)
~Who is your favourite of the four, and why?
~How do you see each marauder, his personality characteristics, what he wants in friends/lovers, etc?
~If you were stuck with the marauders in a room, what would you talk to them about?

I wonder why James turned into a stag. personally, he didn't seem so noble like in 'Snape's Worst Memory'. Any thoughts from fellow marauder fans?

Well, in my opinion, he redeemed himself by saving Snape's life later on.

Hmmm, I dunno. I'm not holding any hate against Prongs, but I'd like to denote his stag like qualities, we already know the similarites between the others and their animal forms.

I think, when it comes to Wormtail, that he was jealous of the others. See society saw Pettigrew as the tagalong in the Marauders group, by betraying the Potters he became the big man, the man all the death eaters would talk about.

I have very little belief in the Sirius/Remus relationship in cannon. There are many kinds of love. My best friend and I have love between us, but it has nothing to do with sexual or physical love. Sirius and Remus grew up together, they're like brothers.

Harry's father's Animagus form is a stag because his true self (not his teenage self) was quite noble.

Also SBXRL is canon, just not developed her editors most likely asked her to cut it out of the books, so they avoid more contraversy.

I think James' stag form had something to with his wild hair that could have kind of resembled horns? Just a theory. Also, in Snape's memory, is it possible that the memories held within the pensives are how the person remembers them? Dumbledor would see things from every angle, trying to stay neutral enough to make a good decision about it, so his memories would be more factual. But Snape could have easily looked at his situations one-sidedly, thus it was represented as such.

Also, there is no way that the Sirius/Lupin relationship was even a thought in J.K.'s head. There are always people out there who think that every male leading character in some popular movie/television show/book has a homosexual relationship with another male character (or vice versa with the females). How about we stop to realize that they were friends and only friends. There are also people who would argue that Fred and George have a similiar relationship, but it just isn't so. Never have I picked up on anything of the sort at any point in the books.

I concur... I have never thought that while reading the books either. Can't people just see that not every main character of a situation has some sort of relationship (like the one mentioned). Can't characters just have a love in a brotherly or family type way? Not everything should be like that or should be associated that way..
