This is a journal for Sinclaire to use as she coaxes her Fenthry out of their feathers and has lots of fun adventures with them.

Please don't post here unless Sinclaire has given you permission!

Roulette
It looks like the responsibility of helping to take care of a younger sibling, along with the care bestowed on her by her owner, have helped Roulette to grow! She now stands at just over six inches in height, but she remains the rather quiet, thoughtful fenthry she has always been.

Virgil
The dark feather suddenly pulls away from Sinclaire, rising into the air as though on an unfelt wind. It brushes against the ceiling before spiraling back toward the floor. A few inches away from the ground the feather is caught in a blaze of light, and a chocolate-brown fenthry child with vivid blue hair lands on the floor, standing barely four inches tall.

I cannot believe it...

I've finally adopted one of the beautiful Fenthry feathers, the ones that i've been lusting over for awhile now...!

Everyday i'd stop by the shop, search about for the shopowner, walk by the glass display case-- the feathers would always gleam as if teasing me, beckoning me to take one. I guess my patience finally paid off today!

Louhi was so kind as to entrust to me a lovely, pearl-like female-- its colors were the first thing that attracted me to them. Cool colors, tranquil colors, like the sky. When i first held it in my hands, it just... rippled. With hidden life and energy.

From now on, i'm taking the little feather whereever I go... I won't let it out of my sight. I can't wait til the Fenthry emerges from it! heart

Well, i've discovered one thing about my little Fenthry feather and I today...

We both like to be alone. It must be the peace-loving, tranquil natures that run through our genes...

For example, I find myself often far from the main Fenthry shop, not socializing or mingling with the rest of the owners-- something in me just keeps to myself, walking in the cold air--the quiet park-- the near-empty streets.

It's better that way for me... it's almost artistic in a sense.

My Roulette... and this is the oddest thing... seems to feel exactly the same way. Whenever we're near a whole crowd of people, laughing, loud people, she seems to quiver-- to shrink away. She fears the activity, the fast movements. With me, alone, however-- just walking and enjoying nature-- she calms, and seems to almost murmur in contentedness.

I'm happy to say that I've really made a good choice in adopting my lovely Roulette...

Today was just another day of watching and waiting, one spent with my little Roulette out in the fresh air. Luckily, the weather today proved cool and calm-- light breezes, hazy skies, wispy clouds... I couldn't ask for more.

However, this morning, the Fenthry feather DID give me quite a shock...

After waking, doing a few chores and stretching a bit, I went to Roulette's special case to say good morning-- and to my utter surprise, she was gone!

I was absolutely frantic. I rushed here and there, pulling down books, checking under mattresses and rugs, looking under lampshades-- anything a frantic person would do if she had lost something precious to her.

Near tears, I wondered what Louhi would do if she found out... that I had lost my beautiful feather, only on the 3rd day!

However, to my great luck-- whenever i feel distressed or unhappy, I usually go to sit by the window, and stare out at the sky and world below. As i perched myself on the windowsill sadly, and brushed aside the curtains...

There sat my Roulette, lightly balanced atop the windowsill, her edges quivering contentedly from the fresh air!

You wouldn't believe how relieved I was. Absolutely.

It turned out that the little feather had actually moved itself to the window, after noting what a cool, crisp day it was outside. I only wish it had somehow told me before it went! What a smart little Fenthry, though!

The rest of the day was spent peacefully, as Roulette and I spent time quietly walking through the park once again... ahh.... nature.

I love sitting down in the evenings with Roulette in front of me, and gazing at her for a long while... just thinking.

About what she's going to be when she grows up, that is...

I've spent many hours, happy hours, just spending quiet time with her, drawing with her at my side, tucking her gently into my pocket as i run errands, tickling her fluffy edges-- and all while doing that, i can't help but wonder what is happening, changing inside that little feather.

Does she truly like me? Am i being good to her?
Enough for her to come out and reveal herself to me?

I stare at her luminescent colors... teal, white, gray, blue-- beautiful and as calm as ever. Roulette, Roulette...

What kind of a Fenthry will you grow up to be?

Oh, oh--- i think i'm going to explode from excitement-- although that's not nearly in my nature!

You wouldn't believe what happened... Roulette's come out! She's emerged from her feather, like a little butterfly out of its cocoon-- and even more beautiful than one, to boot...

It surprised me half to death. I had just settled down for the night, after watching and admiring the glowing little feather-- Tonight, though, I decided that i would take it to bed with me... just because i wanted to be near it. I lay in bed, and set it beside me on the pillow, wishing it good night.

Imagine my shock when suddenly, it began to quiver, emitting a blinding, teal-colored light... I literally leaped out of bed, staring at it in amazement! And when the glowing subsided, a tiny, 4-inch creature emerged, landing softly on my pillow-- it turned its little eyes to me, yawning sleepily, and curling up on its side--

I was speechless.

I bent down by my bed again, gazing at my new, beautiful Fenthry child, not daring to breathe. She was a clear, lovely light teal, speckled with a shade of darker teal-- her little wings a shade of pale honey, marked with red-- and oh! A stripe of gray and white in her hair, just like her feather had previously! My eyes fell to the cute little heart on her hip, a pink color. My Roulette was simply gorgeous.

Trying my hardest to contain my excitement, I lay back down in bed, careful not to squash her on my pillow by mistake. Lifting an index finger, I gently-- very gently-- stroked her soft fur as she curled and slept.

It was no surprise that I myself could get barely any sleep that night.
I can't wait to wake up and see Roulette in the daylight...

I apologize for not having logged in this journal earlier! A combination of work and classes-- as well as spending time with my newly-grown Roulette, has been keeping me very busy. I managed to snatch some time now to jot down the events, though.

The past few days were quite enjoyable ones, what with Roulette's transformation and all-- I took her out to all her favorite places when she was still a little feather, and she absolutely loved it.

We visited the park-- walked the quiet sidewalks, stopped at a cozy little cafe, even took a short walk down to the cool, clear ocean. It was fun to see her excited reactions as a tiny, 4-foot child Fenthry.

As to be expected, she is very quiet and gentle, and loves the calmness of nature-- I think i conditioned her to be that way, since I myself am that way. She is very obdedient to me, although for the most part I let her do as she wishes. She is only a child, though still-- I feel I must provide a bit of guidance and discipline at times.

Right now, my little Fenthry is perched upon my shoulder, watching me interestedly as i write this-- I think I shall go now, and make a little lunch for her. We are both very happy yet tired from staying up late last night for a bedtime story.

I will write again soon!

Just a short entry to log something I found interesting and cute... Roulette has actually begun to try to fly!

At first i thought she would not be able to until teen or adult stage-- seeing how weak and fragile her little yellow wings are. Imagine my surprise when I found her hovering shakily, in the air, over the edge of the table!

Her little wings were flapping with the intensity of the hummingbird, but still were not strong enough to hold her for more than 10 seconds-- she let out a little yelp, then plummeted to the ground. Thank god I had quick reflexes, and dove after her-- I was able to safely cup her in my hands before she hit the ground.

She is really such an intelligent little Fenthry-- now I must just make sure she practices flying where I can see her! ^_^""

I really want to buy her something, to celebrate her transformation into a child, and her beginner-ability to fly... a little gift, perhaps... but I'm really not so sure what! What present could I get that a Fenthry would like...

Eep! Forgive me for not logging for a while... so many things have just been happening, between my life and spending time with Roulette.

She can now fly quite well, after those first few shaky lessons-- she loves stretching her little yellow wings, and swooping about in the sky. I worry for her at times-- but she is proving to be quite an agile flyer. She loves tagging along behind me whereever I go, fluttering near my shoulder and observing the world.

Roulette had quite a new experience today, I must add. She actually came into contact with another Fenthry.. for the very first time in her life. It was amazing to see her curiosity, shyness, everything... just how she approached him and acted.

Yes, it was a male Fenthry-- Shiaree's, to be exact. He is a rare, handsome long-haired Fenthry, named Katsu, and he and Roulette seemed to hit it right off when they met. Soon enough, they were even curled against each other, purring contentedly!

It made me so happy to see her like that. Roulette is usually a creature who keeps to herself, and is wary of other people or Fenthries-- it just warmed me to see her so trusting and happy, curled up next to Katsu.

She even took the liberty to bathe him..! Or something like it-- she actually licked behind his ears for quite a while, before I had to drag her away. Aww... i feel almost bad for doing it.

Right now, Roulette is curled up on my table-- she had a small hairball attack, but now seems to be doing fine... except for missing Katsu, that is. sweatdrop

Well... this turned out a pretty long entry... I'm glad that Roulette and I are making good progress!

Katsu
...*yawns sleepily*

Roulette
<opens one eye shyly and regards the male Fenthry... who is yawning XD >

Katsu
*blinks sleepy-eyed at Roulette, little shy smile*

Roulette
<blinks back slowly, and blushes at the smile... scoots a little closer redface >

Katsu
*curls up with Roulette* ^_^

Roulette
<blushes again, and sniffs at Katsu gently> <curls up beside him, tail twitching happily *^_^* >

Katsu
*snuggles against Roulette, yawning again. Coming out of his feather took a lot of energy and stuff!*

Roulette
<totally understands... she had to go through that too, albeit earlier! x3 > <starts to lick behind Katsu's ears shyly, hoping he doesn't mind. *^____^*>

Katsu
*does the Fenthry equivalent of purring, stretching a bit happily and letting Roulette mother him a bit...his ears probably need cleaning anyways.*

Roulette
< whee heart > <flutters her pale yellow wings a bit as she licks....>

<gets a hairball from Katsu's long fur gonk >

Katsu
*looks embarrassed about long hair causing poor Roulette ickness*

Roulette
<hacks out a couple hairballs O_@>

<pauses, catching her breath>

<....goes back to licking Katsu again happily..! whee >

Katsu
*curls up happy-like and sleepy while Roulette gives him a bath* ^__^

sadly, as i had to leave, i was forced to interrupt this meeting--

Roulette
Roulette: <complains as she is lifted away from Katsu, meeping with her tongue still stretched out 8 _ 8 >

Katsu
*looks decidedly less than happy about losing his cuddle-friend, curls up in Shiaree's lap instead*

Just recently, as I watched Roulette wander around my home curiously, sniffing about and trying out her wings-- it occured to me that she might be a little lonely.

Now I did know that she was very fond of Shiaree's Katsu, but they obviously could not be together 24/7.
What Roulette needed was someone who would keep her company at home, someone she could maybe talk to... someone to protect her?

Someone to open her up a little bit more to the world.

She needed a brother, I promptly decided, and with much gusto at that.

I, however, felt very uncomfortable about the prospect of having to go back to the crowded store, and risk sounding rude or selfish...
Louhi had been very kind to me the previous time, and I respected her muchly. I didn't want to be on her bad side.

Yet, gazing at my little Roulette curl up in a ball almost boredly, I oppressed all my fears and decided to take the risk. Gently picking her up and tucking her into my coat pocket, I set off to the Preservation Society to plead my case.

As to be expected, the Society was bustling with life and people, the day being a very nice one. Disliking huge crowds, and sensing Roulette curl up in fright in my pocket, I quickly made my way to the glass display case-- one that i knew all too well.

Lo and behold-- feathers! Many, beautiful colored feathers, gleaming back at me, calling to me. I smiled slightly-- looking at them relaxed me.

Louhi must have been a very busy young woman, collecting all of them.

Speaking of Louhi-- I soon spied her in the crowd, chattering with a number of Fenthry owners and prospective ones. Luckily, I managed to get a hold of her and inquire about a sibling for Roulette... very nervously, I must add.

She was more than happy to let me... to my surprise and relief! What a generous soul!

To my surprise, it was relatively easy to pick the right feather for Roulette's brother-- it caught my eye almost immediately in the glass case, due to its colors and its aura--

But I will tell you all about the new feather... as well as Roulette's 2nd encounter with her dear Katsu... in the next entry!

(It is the 4th of July, and I have BBQ plans. Until next time!)

Before I go on to talk about my mysterious new feather, I'd just like to post my thoughts down here about Roulette and Katsu--

First of all. Watching them together just makes me want to die...
It's just too awesome, too perfect. It's like they were made to fit into each other's contours.

Shiaree and I have agreed that we musn't let them go long periods without seeing each other-- it'd be horrible. Two mopey, lonely Fenthries could NOT be good for our healths or for theirs...

Anyways, yesterday while I spoke with Louhi about the new feather, I let Roulette loose to play with Katsu-- they immediately settled down together as if it were routine-- the long-haired male even began licking Roulette's little ears, forehead, and cheek!

Shiaree and I watched and chatted a bit-- we touched on the topic of our Fenthries' futures.
Would Roulette and Katsu stay good friends as they grew, began to talk, began to grow up?

I certainly hope so-- and I'm sure Shiaree does too. It's painful to lose friends and eventually break away, but I'm sure these two will remain friends as they mature. There's just something about their actions, their relationship that makes me believe in it.

Before I had to go...... I witnessed the strangest thing...
Katsu gently body-slamming Roulette! eek Or it LOOKED like that at least..!

She didn't seem to mind.... VERY strangely enough.... even though the poor male looked embarrassed to death! It was just very cute to watch.

I took leave of Shiaree after that little incident, cradling my new feather gently with me... Roulette hated to go, and admittedly moped about a bit at home. But she soon accepted the fact that she would, indeed, see Katsu again sometime soon...

And now... for my next entry, I will introduce Roulette's new brother!

I named him Virgil-- indeed, I thought it would be fitting to his striking, deep-colored feather.

It must have been exactly that that drew me to his feather, nestled in the glass case. His colors are a deep, rich maroon, striped with brilliant turquoise-- they struck me as mysterious, sophisticated.

I could just imagine him growing up to be a confident, cool young Fenthry-- dark and suave. Something like that.

With that kind of personality, he could be a perfect companion to Roulette; she is shy, withdrawn and thoughtful, and could use some opening-up to the world. Virgil just might give her the confidence to do that...

I'll just have to wait and see, watch my new feather grow, hope for him to emerge. I can barely wait to see him-- and see little Roulette's response to her new brother.

HE'S HERE.

It totally took me by surprise, for i've been very busy lately... without much time, regrettably, to play with Roulette and Virgil's feather. sad

Just a few days ago, I had finally found some time to myself, to sit down and enjoy the night... to relax from work.
Poor Roulette had felt quite a little lonely, as I was constnatly busy, Katsu was nowhere near, and Virgil.. well.. was only a feather.

Feeling like i had to make it up to her, I took the little teal child on my lap, as well as the beautiful dark feather, and settled down in a comfortable chair. I planned to read to them...

So you can imagine my astonishment suddenly, Virgil's feather shot up into the air, releasing streaks of light everywhere, as it drifted back down...!

I nearly shrieked and dropped my cup of tea, as Roulette let out a small yelp and flew beneath my arm, quivering.
When i finally took my arm away from my face, daring to look at the small feather... Virgil stood there, a fully grown child!

I gazed at him in awe... his dark, rich chocolate form and color, his bright blue hair... his expression.
It was a cool, careless expression, complete with a small, crooked smile.
He regarded me casually with jewel-like eyes, before turning his gaze onto the poor frightened Roulette.

He seemed to recognize her as someone close, as his own sister..
He tilted his bright head, letting out a small chirp.

She looked at me with frightened eyes, burying her little head in my shoulder.

I had expected them to get along from the start...
Well, i had hoped at least...

Inching forwards to my new, handsome child, I cupped him gently in my hands, bringing him over to Roulette...

Who immediately let out another small whimper, and fluttered quickly away to hide behind the curtain.

Virgil, experimentally flapping his beautiful, bright blue wings, turned to look at me with a curious look in his eye, as if questioning about Roulette's behavior.

I sighed.
This was gonna take a while, to get the two acquainted...
