July 19: The semi-custom auction is over! Congratulations to TheSinWithin (and, I think, Seeno?) for winning! The new baby promises to be beautiful... He's based off of such a great idea, I can't wait to finish the art! Until the next event, I'm going to focus on growing all of the babies into toddlers. That way, you owners will have something to do besides having your pets giggle and wave at each other!

July 16: Okay, Gaia has been NUTS lately. I've presented Rik's baby and I will grow up Merewen's baby very soon. I'm also considering holding some kind of auction to get one more baby out into the open. I will probably hold it tomorrow or the next day, just so people have enough time to get interested. ^^

July 13: Back home from the funeral, I just finished my half of a pet trade with RikProwley for a Feien. Soon enough I'm going to present a beautiful baby girl. I hope everyone likes her. ^^;

July 3: I am honored to present to you, Noir. She is my Kabuki, whose muse is a black cat. She is a teenager, but came to the House of Noh as a young child. I have raised her, and you may visit her Shrine and spend time with her. She is kind, but shy. Like a guardian of the Kabuki, she has sworn to help and protect any children who come to this house with nothing more than a Muse. Please visit her Shrine!

July 2: Say 'hello' to the three flatsale Kabuki, with Koi, Night Sky, and Autumn Breeze muses! The FLATSALE will be on Monday, at 1:00 in the afternoon (Gaia time).

July 1: Welcome to the Kabuki thread. ^^; Grand opening! I just announced what the two flatsale Kabuki will be. I'm sorry I can't give more information right now, I'm doing a lot of work on them.

The Kabuki are a quiet, private sect of people who live in a large home in Japan. They are a magical people, but not in the traditional sense. Their magic comes from their worship of muses. The Kabuki do not spend all of their time inside the house of Noh, but they do enjoy to spend most of their time in the home. Outside there are beautiful water gardens, and trickling waterfalls (as the house is positioned on top of a large hill). Each Kabuki has a small shrine to their muse, where they record their daily or weekly events. Whatever happens to a Kabuki, they are sure to record at least the most important.

Inside the house, the Kabuki all share a few gathering rooms, and all have their separate living spaces. Kabuki are not overly materialistic, as they learn to live a simple life, but they enjoy both giving and receiving presents, especially if these gifts are somehow in relation to their muse. Some Kabuki may be told to 'quest,' by their master, which is usually a sign that they will grow to their next stage (a teenager to adult, etc.). Quests may involve gathering sacred objects, or writing poetry, or creating artwork that the Kabuki feels represents themselves.

Each Kabuki has a different muse, which means that each Kabuki has a different personality that is shaped around the way they worship. Muses can range from objects, to emotions, to anything in particular that a Kabuki feels strongly about. The Kabuki will receive word of their muse when they are just an infant, and the rest of their life is shaped around the worship and strong mental and physical relation to their muse.

The Kabuki are required to have a caretaker. This is where you come in. As the caretaker of a Kabuki, you have a great responsibility. You must be cautious to allow yourself enough time to spend with the Kabuki, as they will develop a strong bond with you. It is as if you are a surrogate parent to your Kabuki, and you should help to guide them through quests and through their daily life. Until they are old enough, you are responsible for the keeping of their Shrine, and guiding them to worship their muse.

Please take the time to read carefully over this thread, as it will provide you with more information about the Kabuki and how to care for them.

Adults: (There are no Adults, currently!)

Teens: Teens have a very good working knowledge of their Muse. Their everyday activities are based off of their studies, and as they reach an older-teen stage (20/21) they start to lose the resiliency of their early years and become more reserved and quiet. At this age, clothing is no longer made by their guardians, but instead, is made my the Kabuki themselves. They are given free reign, as children, to collect the fabric and patterns and decide what they want their kimono/yukata to look like, as a teen. (Guardians: Tell me as a child what you want the Kimono to look like and I'll draw it that way for the teen stage.)

Children: (There are no Children, currently!) At the child stage, Kabuki expand on the study of their Muse. They can get into serious trouble (if they stray too far from the House of Noh). Children still need to be sheltered from the 'outside' world, and will probably start to show signs of resilience from being cooped up inside Noh. This also means, though, that they will start to get creative. Guardians need to keep their children focused and entertained.

Toddlers: Toddlers are willing to learn and expand their wealth of knowledge. They can talk in sentences and can comprehend most anything. Think of a Kabuki toddler as a bright 2-3 year old, which you can RP till they turn 4 or 5. Guardians should teach their toddlers early on about their muses, and tell them about their roots (you can make up a backstory too). At this age, you can start teaching them how to read and write. Beware! Toddlers are tempermental and fussy, just like babies, so they need to be won over with trinkets and play.

Babies: Babies are wrapped in cloth, coloured to represent their Muse. At this age, the Kabuki does not yet understand their muse, but will probably take a liking to objects that flesh with their colour scheme. Babies can babble, but can't form coherent sentences unless it has an above-average intelligent. They can teethe and do anything a baby does, and have good enough dexterity to grasp and hold onto objects.

Flatsales: Flatsale Kabuki cost 10k. I'm sorry they're expensive! They are a lot of work for me, five whole stages of unique lineart... But I will let you do payment plans if I know and trust you. If you really, really can't afford the 10k I will let you pay me in favors, like finding great affiliates and doing odd jobs.

Raffles: I don't know exactly how much to make raffle tickets, so the price for them will be announced whenever I make the raffles. I consider raffles to be a great, fun way of getting pets. I will try to make a few raffles, if time permits, just to give lots of people an opportunity to get one of my pets.

Auctions: I don't know what to do about auctions yet! All of the information will probably be announced when the time comes.

---

Merewen has been selected to be the first test subject for the Kabuki. Her Kabuki will have the muse of Noh, the art of Japanese Dance or Theater.

Note: Not all Kabuki are based around items found in Japan, or Japanese culture. Other muses could be items, songs, or anything you could possibly think of. This will be explained in depth, later.

What is a Kabuki? Kabuki are a humanoid breedable that you have to care for. Kabuki come in 5 stages (Baby, Toddler, Child, Teenager, Adult), and you must post in your Kabuki's shrine, as they are RP-intensive.

How do I get one? You can get a Kabuki through a flatsale, raffle, game, auction, or as a pet trade.

How much do they cost? Flatsale Kabuki cost 10k.

Do I have to RP them? Yes, but you don't always have to participate in the thread. I do ask, though, that you post in your journal a few times a week. If you want your Kabuki to grow, you have to be active.

Can you PM me whenever there's a flatsale? Join the mailing list, please. ^^;

Are there any available right now? Check the "Availability" post to answer that question.

Can I bribe you? wink Sorry, nope. Unless you're bribing me with a pet trade or chicky slippers... Hehe!

What's a Muse? A 'Muse' is what your Kabuki models his or her personality off of. Noir, my Kabuki, has modeled her personality off of a black cat. She is shy and quiet, but very sly and prefers to wear dark clothing. A Kabuki with the muse 'Sun' however may be cheerful and happy, and would prefer to wear bright clothing.

Can I get a custom? Only through special events, like auctions and games. The "Custom Order" chart can be found in a quote, below.

Why don't you make lots like you did with the Lyrix? The Lyrix have 3 stages, and one of them is very basic. These pets have 5 very intense, detailed stages to draw. I can't just pump out Kabuki like I can draw the Lyrix. Sorry!

Any more questions? Just post in the thread or PM me and I'll try hard to answer!

Most Wanted: Pets!

NOTE: I AM NOT OFFERING ANY PET TRADES AT THE MOMENT! Sorry!

This is a list of pets I would be totally willing to trade for! I offer my trades as custom for custom. Any pets with (x) next to their names have been traded.

Custom Order Chart

If you are offered a custom Kabuki, please copy and paste this list and send it to me:

Muse: (It doesn't have to be Japanese inspired, it can be anything at all)
Gender:
Name: (If it means anything please tell me, I'm interested to hear)
Skin Color: (It doesn't have to be natural, it can be blue for all I care!)
Hair Color:
Hair Style: (Straight, Nappy, Etc.)
Hair Length:
Eye Color:
Eye Style: (Thin, Large, Asian, Etc.)
Weight: (Very thin, thin, medium, larger (muscley), chubby)
What colors would you want me to incorporate into his/her clothing?
Any special features: (Like a tail, or cat ears, or wings? - Please only choose a maximum of TWO special features!)
Tell me a little about his/her personality. This helps me draw your Kabuki to be more fitting.

Note: If there is anything very important that you would want on your custom that isn't on the list above, just describe it to me and I will tell you if I can draw it or not.

I don't include items on these pets unless I see you actually RPing with them. I won't draw your Kabuki with a bo staff unless your Kabuki uses a bo staff constantly in RP. Objects are supposed to be a treat for good RPers, so I won't include them in on custom Kabuki, at least until they reach the child or adolescent stage.
