Before you participate in this RP, it is advisable you have already read IDW's comic series Beast Wars: The Gathering for full enjoyment.


If you haven't read the book, and plan to buy it, it's available from many online stores, as well as most well-selected comic book stores.

However, if you don't wish to buy the comic book, it's possible to read a synopsis on The Gathering's Wikipedia Page.



In the Aftermath of the Beast Wars, there seemed to be a resolution, as Optimus Primal took Megatron back to Cybertron, only to enter the time of Beast Machines...

But what became of the crew of the Axalon, scattered far and wide over the prehistoric Earth and seemingly lost to the violent, hostile world?

The Gathering answered this, in an insidious plot as Magnatron went to Earth upon the Tripredacus Council's strict orders to return with the traitorous Megatron.

His assault team went in via a chrono-slip, a little wormhole that places them 3-seconds in the future of all the combatants of the Beast Wars, meaning that they cannot be seen, they cannot be heard and they cannot interact with any of these other transformers.

Except when they exit this small pocket of time.

Magnatron went upon his orders, but quickly, showed his true colors, while he went to retrieve Megatron, he reactivated ALL of the pods, awakening all of the forms to become his personal Predacon army.

He failed.

Razorbeast, a Maximal double agent, was able to stop the shell program infiltrating all protoforms, and now, a new chapter of the Beast Wars begins, with Magmatron gone, locked between time and space, the remaining Maximals and Predacons now awakened are left, with only hope of eventual rescue, and the threat of war resuming once more...



As mentioned, the canon Beast Wars cartoon characters will not be the main focus, but rather, the other characters that were never created from their toy selves.

It IS possible to interact with a canon character by leaving the 3 second void, but such circumstances are hard to achieve, and will only be possible if made part of the plot, so please keep this rule in mind when we begin.

Rules of the RP:


General Rules:
All rules you know to be general are in effect, as Gaia is of course, a PG-13 site, swearing, cybering, etc are out of bounds... although really, they ARE robots XD

We just ask you're semi-lit, and you won't take control of others characters without their permission.

Also, any time you wish to speak out of character, just remember ((your parenthesis)).


Dice Rules:
One of the main little gimmicks of this RP will be the fact we're going to use Dice throughout the RP when it comes to actions/battles

There will be occasions when you will face an obstacle or task and be asked to roll the dice to see if you overcome said obstacle or test, such text would appear at the end of a post in bold, so please pay attention when reading through posts.

One of the largest rules when playing with dice, is you MAY NOT DELETE YOUR POSTS just because you got a bad roll.

This system is supposed to make it fairer than characters just continually moding their way out of obstacles or attacks, luck is a factor in many situations, and with the right preparations, you can most likely be ready for it in any case.


Battle Rules:
As you may now imagine, when you choose your characters, you'll be creating them with a set of stats to accompany them, and when you battle, it will be these stats that are used to fight with, by adding whatever dice roll you create to your accompanying stat, and comparing it to your opponents.

There are 3 basic battle options:-

-ATTACK
-DEFEND
-COUNTER-ATTACK

ATTACK is most obvious, you will fight by turn, where the faster transformer attacks first, using his attack stat to fight.
Attacks are then split into three categories, depending on which way you want to fight:

-Strength: You fight with your body, your arms, hand to hand, claw to claw, when you attack like this, roll ONE 20-sided die

-Melee: You fight with blades, swords, spears often fashioned out of parts from your beast mode form, when you attack like this, roll ONE 20-sided die

-Long Range: Any weapon that uses projectile ammunition, or bombs, throwing blades, these are classified as long range attacks, when you attack like this, roll TWO 8 sided die

DEFENSE is simply a roll when used against attack, to try and block/dodge the blow, when your opponent attacks, roll ONE 20-sided die in retaliation. If you roll the same number or higher than your opponents roll, you automatically dodge or if you match the opponents overall score, or surpass it, the attack has been successfully dodged/evaded also.

COUNTER-ATTACK means that you meet an opponents attack head on, and should be warned, is a far riskier alternative, although it means you can maybe try and score in some extra damage outside your turn... however, a counter-attack MUST roll higher than the opponents score.

If a counter-attack fails, the damage applied still uses a characters defense stat, but then, that damage is DOUBLED to what it normally would be, so be very wary and choose your shots carefully.



EXAMPLE:
Cheetor tries to shoot down Waspenator.
Cheetor rolls TWO 8 sided die [5,8], Waspenator rolls ONE 20 sided in defense [1]

Cheetor's long range attack is 9, Waspenator's defense is 6

So Cheetor's [ROLL + LONG RANGE ATTACK] - Waspenator's [ROLL + DEFENSE] = DAMAGE

[13 + 9] - [1+6] = 15 DAMAGE

Now you know your basics, this is applied to all methods of fighting, whether the opponent defends OR counters.

Profile Layout

Remember, as mentioned earlier, canon characters from Beast Wars will not be playable, it's recommendable you choose a Beast Wars character that was either one of the figures, or that you can make a fan-made transformer, or alterations to a previous transformer figure.

It's also recommendable if you're going to play a figure, you research the character behind it, as there are many websites that pertain to the toys profiles, so you can portray it properly.

It's also advisable, as we're making this RP before the soon release of The Gathering's sequel 'Ascension' that we take into account we can't accurately predict the future of the storyline, but that we try and stay true to it.

Which means that some of the main characters to fill are:

-Razorbeast

As they were main focus of either side.

I will allow mythical creatures, as dragon AND plant have been so seen before, but I will be judging ALL profiles before I allow any entrants.

EACH player will be given 25 Health to their transformer, excluding any Transmetal/Transmetal II/Fuzor characters who are then given 30 health.

When you create your profile, you will have various stats you are allowed to fill in at your own choice, and you will be given 30 points to distribute throughout your 6 stats divisions, so it is therefore possible to have 5 for each. (Again, 36 points for any non-normal)

And then, your Beast Modes will have an additional 15 points to be split between its three sections. (18 for trans/transII/fuzors)


For a rundown on what each stat gives:-
Health: This one is obvious. Health is one's vitality. When it's low your character is going to be heavily damaged, when it hits zero... Well, they're defeated, and need to be restored before they can battle again.

Defeat does not always mean death: If critical damage is done that would leave you at -5 Health or lower, your character is slagged. This means they are VERY heavily damaged, so much so that their spark will be putting the body into stasis lock. One can recover from being slagged, but it takes a while.

If TRULY critical damage is done, which takes a lot since it's something that leaves you at -15, your spark is damaged and sent back to the Allspark, and your character is essentially dead.


Strength: This is your character's physical strength when weapons are not used. It determines things like how strong your kicks, punches, rams, shoves, headbutts, and the like would be.
Melee Weapon Power: This is how strong your character is when using close range weapons such as swords, staves, spears, blades of any other kind, etc etc...
Long Range Weapon Power: This is how strong your character's guns and such are.
Defense: This is how durable your character's armor is, very important when fending off attacks.
Speed: And this should be horribly obvious. It's mainly used to determine who goes first in battles and such.
Intelligence: A slightly more abstract stat, this will be used often in challenges, or can be used to a characters advantage to try and escape a battle at any point, entering a battle of wits. Feel free to exercise this stat as you may.

Your character may then be customised with weapons and skills:

Weapons: You may carry up to three for various use, make sure you know what is melee weapons and long range, you can carry up to THREE weapons at a time (although weapons like arachnid leg guns, missiles or twin swords collectively count as ONE weapon each.)

Special Abilities: Transformers each have their own amazing capabilities, in beast form or not, their unique abilities make them who they are, and below is a base breakdown of abilities, you can choose up to THREE special abilities per character.

Beast Climber: Beast mode is excellent at climbing.
Beast Flier: Beast mode is capable of actual flight. It also makes trees and rock pillars into disadvantages.
Beast Scaler: Beast mode is capable of simply walking up walls and across cielings, making obstacles such as trees, rock pillars, and cliff walls no longer a problem.
Beast Swimmer: Beast mode is quite adept in the water, making it capable of not only crossing rivers, but larger bodies of water also.
Bot Flier: Robot mode is capable of actual flight, making obstacles such as cliff walls, river panels, and marsh.
Bot Swimmer: Robot mode is quite adept in the water, making it capable of crossing rivers.
Digger: This ability means that in beast, bot, or maybe even both modes, a character is great at burrowing. This can have many creative uses outside stat-based combat, but in them has no applications except maybe explaining HOW the character managed to dodge something.
Engineer: This ability says something about a character's technological prowess, and is a necessity if they are to be the more scientific types. Engineer allows them to repair equipment, invent, and deal with anything pertaining to the basics of maintenence and repair.
Escape Artist: This ability is a rather obvious one, isn't it? If a character has the ability escape artist, then they can make an attempt to escape any sort of confinement unless unconscious, in stasis lock, or it is specifically stated that the specific cell is inescapable, in which case they will be imprisoned by means other than the Maximals or Predacons as they currently are.
Paralyzer: Paralyzer allows a beast mode to send a victim into temporary paralysis, and for robot modes to carry special extra missiles for their long range weaponry which will allow them to paralyze victims in the free style play if hits are successful, and will also take away an opponent's offensive turn for one turn if it hits them successfuly in battle. It must be stated that paralyzer is being used in posts, paralyzer shots only do half the normally calculated damage, and if countered successfully the paralyzer shot still only does half the normally calculated damage, but also paralyzes it's user for a turn as it would have the intended victim.
Prowler: This ability simply makes it so that outside of battle a character is difficult to detect when being careful. Spies are also capable of setting up bombs and using grappling hooks or webbing to get around where they couldn't normally

Weapons: Chemical Gas (Beast Mode), Hypnosis (Both modes, optics), 'Stink bombs' (Robot mode)
Special Abilities: Engineer, Paralyzer, Digger

Bio: A maximal self-absorbed within discovery, Stink Bomb's primary functions were from simple field medic to physio-studies and psychology, subjects that seem to dictate her life from the application to the study of said topics.
Now in beast mode, she can't help but express a little irritance over her new form's small demeanour, but conversely, is fascinated to study their new forms more and more, as well as that of their predacon enemies, and a little more flamboyantly, has a fixation with her new tail.
However, her slightly dismissive nature and self-absorbed labors make her slightly alienated from her fellow maximals, with very little social interaction except that forced upon her, it's no wonder why the other maximals coined her the name 'Stink Bomb' after an embarrassing welcome out of her stasis...
In research and repair she has no peer, but in combat, she has to rely on her tactics of paralysing the enemy with her chemical sprays or hypnotic abilities to find an opportunity to make an escape with her wits and manueverability, or at worst, return to original form and risk stasis lock to conduct some form of battle strategy.

NOTES:- Stink Bomb is a female, normal version of an existing Transmetal II toy.

((With two characters, I'm willing to kick off, if only to keep this thread up and see more people hop on board ^^ ))


::There were so many things in this world to see, so much to wonder and disbelieve, just how different it was to Cybertron was just beyond belief, as a small mustelid lay in the morning break, as dawn crept over the lands, and shadows fell before it::

Here it comes... ::The skunk whispered, raising her head as the line of shadows crawled ever backward, and as she closed her eyes, it washed over her, as the sun reached the cliffs and caves, and a sudden rush of warmth spread over her, filling every little cell of her beast form, and the feeling, was indescribable...::

::As a cybertronian, heat was but a measurement, a scale of degrees to be monitored, but here, here, these bodies and creatures, the things they were capable of, this was why she had joined the Axalon... discovery...::

::But she only allowed her single leisure for a few minutes, before she rose, and took a deep breath:: Maximise!!

::Suddenly, as she threw her forebody down, the skunks rear torso rose up and twisted 180 degrees, as the legs all quickly disjointed and extended, until they revealed her feet and hands, finally followed by her head, rising out of the split torso, and she was maximal once again::

::A simple helm addorned her head, with an elegant red eyemask obscuring the most of her actual face, as she looked back upon the cliffs, letting the morning's warm breeze flow through the skunk-tail that remained and hung down behind her head, as well as the other patches of fur visible on her body, where they remained and hung::

::Behind her, the last stand of the Maximals, and still construction continued... these caves and networks would be their home, until their eventual rescue it seemed...::

::And she had her own weight to pull, as a physician, she was the one in charge of repairs and maintenence, as well as some of the more ambitious feits of engineering behind building their camouflaged structure::

::So she sighed, and again her morning ritual was gone, as she looked once more to the sun, and made a biding wish...:: ...Let it be a good day.

Cybershark was not nearly as elegant with his feelings about this world as Stink Bomb was. He'd been on harsher before, but it had always been temporary, and he'd had the comfort of knowing he had his own ship waiting to leave whenever he wanted. He signed up for exploration and to get away from potential dangers that the profession held, and wound up chucked into an even more dangerous situation on a very hostile planet.

While the skunk was enjoying the start of her day, he was helping others clear away rubble that remained from the earlier battle that happened here while Magmatron was being defeated elsewhere. That was a bright side at least, they were no longer outnumbered... The factions had gone from 20 to 21, to an even 20-20 with his diappearance.
((I actually spent a few hours looking through to figure out every transformer who appeared in the comic, and that's how the numbers came out. @_@)) But now Ravage would probably take lead. Though he seemed to be far from the leaderly type considering his history, he had plenty of experience in war as an actual Deceptacon. And Cybershark doubted Razorbeast's capabilities beyond dealing with computers. Still, what could one do in a situation like this?
