I went to Abiding Harvest Methodist Church in Broken Arrow, OK, Sunday July 1. There not only was homosexual sex considered sinful, but presiding pastor Dr. Chris Buskirk gave a presentation (it wasn't much of a sermon) on why homosexuality itself was sinful, and likened it to alcoholism. It was entitled "How to rightly love your homosexual neighbor". The Catholic Church does not teach that homosexuality is sinful, and me being Catholic -- Catholics are Christian, by the way -- I generally agree with the Church. It does, however, teach that sodomy and fornication (premarital sex) is sinful.
The presentation was a bit disappointing, as it not only wasn't anything I hadn't already heard, but he left out important questions (the reasons I still don't think I agree with most Christians' opinions of gay marriage), and didn't really properly address the few scientific studies he mentioned. I still found it odd, that they didn't open a Bible once throughout the entire service. (Catholic services center around the Eucharist and frequently read the Bible. This Methodist service had communion to start it off -- complete with grape juice -- and then was strictly praise and worship music, then his presentation.) In his presentation, he mentioned Genesis, Leviticus and Romans, but of course his only strong point was the English translation "It is an abomination," and didn't bother considering the original ambiguity of the Hebrew.
I am a very religious person, and I consider myself bisexual. The questions then, if it and gay marriage is acceptable to God (and there doesn't seem to be many good reasons why it wouldn't be), is how many others feel the same, and what are my chances of winding up with a Christian guy, anyway. (I am a guy.)
Thus the poll. I realize this poll won't be vast or representative of the majority, but I assume thousands visit this board so it may give me a good idea. Please be honest. I wish the poll could be larger, but Gaia only allows 10 poll choices.
