This is a journal for Avelena to use as she coaxes her Fenthry out of its feather and has lots of fun adventures with it.

Please don't post here unless Avelena has given you permission!

Naomi
The fluffy navy feather suddenly stands straight up on its shaft, quivering slightly. Moments later it rises slowly into the air, barbs rippling in an unfelt wind. For a moment it hangs in the air, a patch of starry night against the ceiling; it plummets back toward the ground, fluffy barbs pressed tight against the shaft. The feather is suddenly swallowed by a flash of white-hot light...and a tiny four-inch tall child tumbles gently to the floor. Her long fur is the dark navy of the sky and studded with tiny stars.

July 14...

This evening I acquired a rather odd, yet beautiful, item. I bought a Fenthry feather that looks a great bit like the night sky, speckled with stars, I'm very excited to see the dear little thing when it comes out. For now I've placed the feather in a small open box, as I don't want my cat getting to it and when I travel I'd hate for it to blow away.

Last night I noticed my cat seemed to like watching the deep blue feather through it's glass enclosure, I still don't trust her not to play with it but perhaps the Fenthry that comes from it will get along with kitty. That'll prevent a lot of future headache.

Perhaps later today I'll go down to the shop with my feather, have some tea with a few other owners and such.
July 16...

Last night I took my Fenthry feather out to explore the city with a few friends. The little thing seemed so warm everytime I picked it up though, probably because it was night as it did this the first night I had it aswell. I'm sure the feather very much enjoyed the trip. We went out for ice cream, then to a movie, and lastly to a coffee shop. I was rather sure she liked it there more, seemed warmer. When we got home I placed her in the little case and placed it on my bedside table. The cat seemed less interested in it tonight, perhaps a lack of curiousity.

Today we went out to the Fenthry shop and talked to Korea for awhile, she told me it wasn't that odd that the little thing gets all warm when it's night. I didn't talk to many other people and Korea seemed tired so we both left after a little bit. Perhaps another day I'll get her more acquanted with the shop.

I've begun to feel more comfortable that I won't misplace the feather and have been wearing it in my hair so it's a bit more comfortable. It's also easy for me to remind myself it's still there, all I need to do is reach back and run a finger up against the nice soft edge of the feather.

On the few times I've taken the feather to the shop I've seen a lot of fenthry and talked to quite a few owners, but I'm a little nervous of how my little dear will react to others when she emerges. There's not much of a way to know 'till then, the only thing she really has a reaction to is coffee shops and night and normally only when she's near a window or outside. The dark, even in mid-day, sometimes does the same thing, but I'm unsure as to why.

I'm kinda worried that it reacts most to darkness and coffee...that can't really be a good mixture.

Sometime this afternoon Naomi emerged, sadly I was too busy working on other things to actually notice the event. However, some few minutes afterwards I felt a faint shuffling about in my hair, where the feather had been kept, and was a slight bit frightened at first. I reached back and picked something small and squirming from my hair. The little blue body clung tightly to my finger as I looked it over with excitement. She didn't move a lot, nor did she make a noise when being inspected, it seems she's the slightest bit shy.

I took her right afterwards, dropping what I was doing, to the shop and found my usual spot on the couch. Before any of the other fenthry approached us I pulled her once more from my hair and placed her out on the palm of my hand. She seemed to hover for a few moments before promptly falling to my leg. I'm sure she'll get the hang of it with a little bit of time. A few other fenthries came up and the oldest, a sweet little teenage fenthry, tied a lovely silk ribbon to her tail and spun to and fro allowing the others to chase. Naomi seemed a little scared at the others at first but was quite happy playing with the ribbon and hardly seem to notice them after a few moments.

This evening I constructed a small bed of sorts out of a narrow box for a bracelet, a cottonball, and a very fluffy bit of material to use as a blanket. I put it on the windowsill and she cooed happily and fell asleep rather quickly.

Tonight Naomi and I will be staying the night at the society, it looks like we're not the only ones either. A large storm seems to have been rolling through and it's not something I really want to walk Naomi home in. We seem to have been there during a large conflict between Pirate's two fenthry, even though it was put to rest...atleast for that evening.

Naomi watched a teen fenthry named Rioko be pushed from a table by Sakura and, as always, her curiousity dictated that she should watch this fight that seemed to be going on. Her wings have become much stronger and she can fly decent distances and hover for longer period of time, so hovering near the table was not a problem. Once Pirate was alerted to the fighting Naomi even stood up for Rioko, with her limited english.

So it seems now Naomi has made a new friend and they talked for bit, from what I could hear, about movies (it seems my midnight movie watchings have been helpful) and his Katana. We had to go to bed not long after that though, so perhaps they'll talk more later.
July 23...

I took Naomi around town on a shopping trip yesterday, and thought she was originally very frightened by all the big people it didn't take too long before she more interested in the stores than anything else. We passed a store that sold koi and she promptly wanted a black and white one which she pointed to and called "monkey," I'd assume this is it's name and I have no idea why she's called it that.
July 30...

A few days ago Naomi realized that my other recent addition to the family (Oliver) was very good for riding on and now makes use of the quiet little kyunru by pointing to places and having him carry her there. She's also enjoyed feeding her koi fish, or "the panda" as she's dubbed it. She seems to be running out of things to do in the house and is becoming bored on occassion which is something I might want to remedy soon.

Yesterday Rioko taught Naomi how to skateboard, her balance has improved and she didn't really fall down while doing this either. She can turn it around in a large and odd circle, thought it's rather slow. I'm glad she has someone that can be a big brother figure for her.

Sakura seems to have calmed a bit, but is still grumpy. I'm rather concerned that Naomi's rather bold with her and Sakura can be violent so I've been keeping an eye out.
August 2...

Darneith's been dropping by the Fenthry Society lately, I think he's interested in one of the feathers Louhi has up for sale. Yesterday he brought Naomi a gift, a little illustrated book to teach her the alphabet, it's got big pitures and then has the word for the picture with the first letter really big. After we went back to my house I went through the book with her telling her what each letter was, she now knows most of her ABCs, but would rather use the book to remind her. It's a bit bigger than her, but she can still turn the pages and I can always carry it around for her.
