As you may have gathered, I'm Orestria. As you may also have gathered, I really want some new art.

I redid my random signature recently, and doing so made me sad. There just wasn't enough art. Not enough of my avatar, not even of my original characters... especially since I haven't bought art in at least a year (how did I ever hold out that long?)!!

So, this contest will be for both avatar and original character art. Original characters include normal, present day people, pirates, and vampires, and elf-like people! I also very much want boy-love/shonen ai/slash/gay art for a lot of original character pairings.

Feel free to post here or pm me with any questions, but PLEASE read this page first! It's entirely possible you can find the answer to your question here :3

Clarification I can't believe I have to make:
Avatar art means art of my avatar. There are pictures in another post.
Orignal character art means art of my original characters.
I've had *so* many pms, I can't believe it.

Start date: Aug 6th, 2007
Early Bird deadline: Oct 1st, 2007.
Final deadline: Dec 1st, 2007.

EVERY SINGLE ELIGIBLE ENTRY will get 100g, just for entering!

I will be the judge of the art. It's true using other judges may be more impartial, but this thread isn't impartial. It's me giving money for things I like.
However, if I can't chose between two entries, Skell will make the deciding vote.
But, there is a category for which I will be getting several of my friends to decide on their favourite picture!

My biggest heartthrob is going to be towards style and poses. Something stylish with an interesting pose is going to likely catch my eye more than something plain but perfectly proportioned.

The early bird competition is over. Winners will be announced later today. There are still two months left for the competition. If you've already submitted, and don't win the early bird, don't fret. There're many more prizes at the end than for the early bird, and I'll be spending every gold coin I have tipping pictures I like.
Oct 7th
Added 120k in prizes!
The oc couple category is now couple/group.
To encourage more oc art, both the single oc character and oc couple/group have been added to. instead of just 30k for the best, each category has a 30k first place, 20k second place, and 15k third place prize.
I also added a category specifically for art that's explicitely gay. the prize is 50k, and entries for this category with also count for the couple/group oc category.
This means that if you draw two oc boys kissing, for that one picture you could win anywhere from 15-50k.

These characters all either belong to Skell or I.

Need more? Ask! The more you know, the better you can do it. Pm or post and ask anything you'd like about the characters. If you want, I can even link sample scenes between characters, so you can get a feel for the way they act. If a question asks about one of Skell's characters, it might take longer to asnwer, since I might have to ask her.

Each character has a specific character they're to be paired with, if you're doing a couple picture. These characters are all male except the last one. I want/would love some slash/shonen ai art! We do have a boy/girl pairing though, if you don't want to draw two boys :3 They're at the bottom of this post.

I would really like at least three entries a pairing, ideally.

Shirai Toshio
Toshio is Japanese, and of average height.
He is in University.
His hair is long, usually worn in a ponytail with long bangs.
The bangs and the underneath of his hair are dyed a wild colour,
often Orange since that's his favourite colour.
He wears clothes he can dance in,
loves ribbons and dangly things (especially beads!)
since they move when he dances.
Wears very bright colours.
He wears a *lot* of jewelry!
Very relaxed and calm person.
writes music and plays Bass.
Absolutely loves dancing.

Toshio
Toshio2
Hair (colours reversed)
(Pair with Hana Hiroyuki).

Hana Hiroyuki
Hiro is also Japanese, but somewhat shorter than Toshio.
He tends to wear huge platforms to compensate for this.
He is also in University.
The frankest way to describe him is that he's a goth boy.
He loves to sing and be in musicals, and is friendly and cute.
Defensive of his loved ones.

Kaled'a'in, for those who know what that means.
Otherwise, think vaguely elfen, although without the ears.
Foxy has extremely long white hair, and haunting light blue eyes.
He is quite short, and petite.

Tends to look/be a lot cuter than he thinks he is.
Has a very serious, 'in charge' side when he's working
When not working, he prefers to let others do the leading.

NightArrow
Arrow is Tayledras. Again, think vaguely elfen, but without the ears.
Arrow has short, spiked hair.
He is a fair bit taller than Foxy, and is more lean.
He likes to show off how toned he is, so his shirt is almost always open (if he's wearing one!)
He looks about in his twenties.
He has a distinctive scar on his cheek.
He enjoys flustering Foxy.
Likes to smirk a lot.

Spanish, and average height.
Rafael has medium length, black and white hair. Like this.
The top is white, the bottom is black.
He is lean, even muscular.
He's in his late teens, and loves cars.

Caucasion, slightly taller than Rafael.

He doesn't stuff though, so he's flat.
He has long, dark brown wavy hair.
He's a vampire, so you can show fangs if you wish.
Very motivated by a fear of loneliness.

Keith's taller than Maddy, with a slim build
He smokes, but maddy doesn't like the smell.

He has short messy black hair, brown eyes.
He can be rather scruffy

His hair is naturally red, but he dies it black. It's medium length.

He's ok in school, and loves photography, film, and directing.
He's shy, and doesn't have many friends.
He tends to follow rules.
Calls Billy "William" when mad,
even though Billy's name is 'Billy' on his birth certificate.

Billy is caucasion, in his late teens.

I'll probably do another entry....I tried giving him vampire teeth, I put on the same layer as the lips. screwed up the teeth and because of my stupidity of painting on the same layer screwed the lips and had to repaint them. crying Do not get me started on the hair...oh and the eyes. dude. they started of blue, cause I wasn't sure what colour, so I decided to change the hue to a brownish one after you told me what they were. and now they are like grey-green? wtf. the skin...well yeah I don't know what happened - it started off so nice. I think he turned out alright, though not "hot" or "handsome" (traits that are beyond me x___o). Butterflies... this was actually inspired by Kao's Maddy headshot, damn her *shakes fist*. Gaaah... that woman's just too good. I'm no where near her level or realism (there is a reason why she won 2nd place in my art contest XD), but I can at least try, right? <D;;;
