Hey guys; marching band season's started, I forgot how busy I get these days. The shop may not open until the season's over (around the end of October). Still definitely going to open, though!

Welcome to the interest thread for Daeskin, growing humanoid pixel pets.

Humans see and know of many animals that make their homes on the face, skies, and waters of earth. Humankind has become increasingly aware of the peril that many kinds of animals face; dwindling numbers, leading to extinction. Many humans have taken steps to try and preserve and protect these animals. What humans are unaware of are the smaller animals also threatened by their advances-extraordinary little creatures, ranging from the beautiful to the comical, invisible to the human eye but just as easily affected by their actions.

This is where the daeskin come in. Once, they were just the manifestations of innocent spirits, wandering the earth without purpose. Small creatures, sensing their gentle nature, gathered to them naturally. As the daeskin began to take notice of the destruction many of these little animals faced, they began to gather them, keeping them safe inside of their homes. Now, the effort is much more organized; it is considered the duty of all daeskin to look after any animal that needs help. Of course, daeskin could sometimes use looking-after themselves, and any human willing to take in a daeskin would be very welcome.
Daeskin look like small people, half animal, half human. They come in a variety of types, some rarer than others. They begin life as a spirit orb, the manifestation of an innocent soul, and slowly solidify into a child. Once they solidify, they begin to grow, and soon reach adulthood. As a spirit orb, they cannot look after any animals; they can begin to take in animals once they solidify into a child.

There are eleven main, reoccurring types of daeskin. Others may show up depending upon the time of year in which they manifest. The eleven main types of daeskin in ascending order of rarity are lupkin, beatkin, bikin, mokin, forkin, topkin, markin, tamkin, sivkin, and belkin. They come in a variety of colors, although each type of daeskin has several generic or common colors. These will be available in certain quantities, depending on the color and the rarity of the daeskin. Princes will range from 1-2k. More individual/seasonal colors will be available in occasional flatsales, auctions, raffles, etc. and will probably be a bit more expensive than the generic colors.

Here’s an example of a generic color for each type of daeskin. The spiritual orb colors are the same for all daeskin of that type. They meant something at one point (as did the symbols on the orbs) but they no longer mean anything other than showing the type of daeskin the orb will solidify into. Again, these are in ascending order of rarity.

I mentioned earlier that the job of daeskin is to look after animals. Well, this is the second part of the shop. You don’t just get the daeskin; you can buy little creatures, pets for the daeskin. They don’t grow, but you can buy a lot. Some are also available for free through various events, raffles, contests, etc. for example, a single beanbag pet comes free with your daeskin-but you can’t buy them or get them any other way, and you can only get a beanbag of the species that matches up with your daeskin’s type.

So far, the following species will be available; more will be added constantly, and retired, as well.

Roleplaying. Always an important question in any pet shop-is roleplaying required? Is there even roleplaying?

Well, to be honest, I do not like to roleplay in groups. I am, right now, not even interested in meeting new people to roleplay on a one-on-one basis with; I’m happy with the tiny group of friends I have now. However, I love to watch groups of people roleplay, I love the idea of rewarding people for roleplaying, and I know many people like to roleplay. Therefore, I’m willing to hire a roleplaying director if anybody’s interested. The roleplaying director will have access to the mule (yet to be made), will run the roleplaying thread, can make suggestions and be a part of discussions related to all parts of the shop, and will receive 10% of profits (payed at the end of every week…everything else goes to me). The 10% is somewhat negotiable.

I expect the roleplaying director to be imaginative, a good writer, somewhat assertive (so they can lead plots and keep any potential godmoders, etc. in line), and friendly. If you’re interested in applying for roleplaying director, fill out this form:

I’d like to apply!
Name:(your username)
Why:(why do you want to direct daeskin roleplaying?)
Past Experience:(where have you roleplayed before, what have you done, how long have you been roleplaying, have you ever been on staff in another shop, etc.)
Strengths:(why do you think you’d be good for this job? What kinds of things are you most comfortable roleplaying?)
Weaknesses:(any reasons you may not be good for this job? Anything you’re not comfortable roleplaying, any jobs you’re not comfortable taking?)
Other Shops:(are you involved in any other shops (in a roleplaying position or otherwise)?)

In addition, please post (in a separate post) an example of your roleplaying skills. Length, subject, etc. are all up to you-show me your best! It's fine if it's a cut bit from an RP you've already done, just make sure it makes sense on its own.

I’d like to apply!
Name: KarasWind
Why: I love how you have made the Daeskins and I want to help out any way I can. I also love to roleplay, so I think that I could do a good job.
Past Experience: I have roleplayed in Barton Town and also with pets of various origins of mine. I have also done a few private one-on-one roleplays with friends.
Strengths: I feel like I would be good for this job because I like to roleplay and I am quite literate, therefore setting a good example for those wanting to roleplay their pets. I am comfortable roleplaying almost anything, in fact I'm not even sure what I'd be best at.
Weaknesses: School is starting soon, and I may have homework to complete. However, I don't really think that will drag me down too much. As for things I can't roleplay, well, I get a little flustered when roleplaying in a romantic setting, however I don't really think that will apply here too much.
Other Shops: I am the Roleplay Manager for the Chronicles of Narnia shop, which is currently on hiatus, and I have pets from various other b/c shops, none of which are roleplay required.

This shop is ADORABLE. I love the art and concept! <3

>>; I gotta apply. These are just too freakin' adorable...

I’d like to apply!
Name: mint `tea
Why: They're absolutely adorable and even if I don't get the job, I'll definitely stalk it and buy a bunch of little luvs from it.
Past Experience: I've never been on a successful shops rp staff, but I've been roleplaying for over 4 years now. I've progressed dramatically in that about of time from script (ex. *walks in* hey guys) to a some-what advanced stated. I have quite a number of roleplays from Soquili dating back to last year up till only weeks ago if you'd like to read through them as proof. I also have a long-running 1x1 Lord of the Rings roleplay with was rather good quality if you wish to read that as well.
I'm also seen in the Barton OOC every now-and-then looking for a good roleplay.
Strengths: Fantasy themes are my specialty. Elves, dwarves, dragons, you throw me in there, I'll come up with something good~ Romance and action are also two of my strong points.
Weaknesses: I completely FAIL at fighting. If for any reason fighting ensues, I normally discuss it with my roleplay partner and try and skip that scene (or just say, "Your character wins and this, this and that happens to both of them, stuff like that).
Other Shops: I'm an active rper in Soquili, that's about it. xP

Whether or not I get a roleplaying director, roleplaying will never be mandatory. However, it will probably be the only way to get certain animals.

I’d really like the opinions of everybody, of course. Tell me what you like about the idea, what you don’t like, what I could change, etc.

As an endnote, here's the first ever daeskin, my sivkin Llocke. She's modeling the cert for you. There are a few colors for the border and background available, and there's also an indoor background. In the future some other ones (snowscape, forest, etc. for example) will most likely be available.

The Donkey...I mean, Mule;

So, this shop is going to need a mule...what sort of avatar should the mule have? I'm open to suggestions, although of course I am messing around myself on tektek.org because I loooove to tektek. Here's a few possibilities I've got so far.

The Musical Sheep

The Literal Cowgirl

I love the pets themselves, they're really cute. However, I think the prices are a bit too high. Other shops have their pets selling at 3k-5k, and they're fully coloured large pets. The cert background is decent, but maybe you should colour the black frame, which is a bit out of place.

Anyhow, I'd love to see these on sale in the B/C threads once you're ready.

Thanks mirokarosu, those were pretty much the same things I was thinking. I didn't realize until I threw together that example that the frame looked so plain, I'll probably make a few colors for it. And I'm just horrible at pricing sweatdrop I'll bring them down. Thanks for the input! heart
