Background: The daughter of Stablemaster Cauda and his wife Agila, Muris has the same affinity for horses as her father before her. Muris was the 10th child freed of the curse.

Personality: Muris is a sweet and gentle tomboy of a fey. Her natural aptitude with horses comes from her father's tutelege before the curse. She can be shy at times, but when she truly has her heart set on something, she finds courage.

Muris as a Cursed One-- still trapped in her window!

User Image

Muris as a child. Isn't she adorable, with her little mouse ears and her favourite horseshoe necklace?

Papa always said you could tell a lot about the character of a man by the way he treats his horse!

Rosa- Owner of Nimlote A rather gorgeous horse, and she knows it. Nimlote is a Cremello. White, with pink eyes and hooves and a pink star pattern on her rump. Sadly, for all her beauty, she isn't the most pleasant of horses. She's possessive, rather competitive, and seems to look down on the others.

Rosa..might be okay. She's really mean to Aesculus, which I don't like, but she seemed to sorta like me at least a little. She offered to teach me to be more 'ladylike' whatever that is. I think it means I can act pretty like she does!

Alces- Owner of Orin A Grey, with white speckled rump, a gray star pattern, dark hair, black socks, and black eyes and hooves. Orin is very patient, which is good because Alces seems rather nervous about him. He also seems to have a one-track mind-- eating.

Alces is really really nice. He was pretty scared of the horses at first, but once he settled down he was really trying to get stuff right. I think he's going to be a very good owner, and he's a nice person for a friend.

Filix- Owner of Fera He's a Sorrel, with three white socks, white blaze, a pale tan mane and tail, blue eyes and hooves. A rather gorgeous creature, but he's a bit skittish. That is, he doesn't seem to like the other males, and he likes to boss the rest of the horses around quite a bit. Still, I think he'll calm down in time.

Filix and I used to play together when we were kids! She's so much bigger now, I didn't even recognize her. But I can remember how we used to play hide 'n seek in the hay and stuff. She's really fun, and I hope that we can keep being friends!

Lilium- Owner of Zora Zora is a Champagne coloured mare. She has dark socks and muzzle, with gold eyes and hooves, a gold pattern on her rump, and a dark mane and tail. A gentle, but elegant creature who enjoys being pampered a bit, and will occasionally get annoyed if she isn't looked after enough, but is generally sweet-tempered.

Lilium seems quite the same. A very nice woman who's used to having things done her way. I don't know that I'll find out much more about her, though. She's going to marry the King, afterall! Don't tell anybody, but she's secretly kinda scared about the wedding. It's a secret between me and her, though!

Equus- Owner of Altaea. A Sabino, dark mane and tail (flows to white!), pale tan eyes and hooves. Gorgeous creature, though I haven't had much opportunity to get to know her.

I look forward to meeting Equus, as his totem is the horse, one of my favourite animals!

Aesculus- Owner of Dearg Red bay, black mane and tail, black and white socks, gold eyes and hooves. Dearg's a nice enough horse, but he's very picky about certain things. He wants them done his way, or he simply won't do a thing. The other day I tried to groom him a bit early and he just about threw a fit!

Aesculus is really nice, though. He invited me in his room to see his mice, and they're really really cute. And Aesculus is easy to talk to, even if he does use really big words. He promised to come to the stables to play with me sometimes. I hope he does.

Cervus- Owner of Sunshade. A gorgeous black horse, solid black mane, golden eyes and hooves, and beautiful golden markings on his rump. He's very strong and rather temperamental. Oftentimes he won't even let the other grooms near him, and he has a tendency to bite even me. Still, he's a gorgeous creature.

Oh, yes. And Cervus isn't all bad either. He seems like a very nice man, though I doubt I'll have a chance to know for certain. Kings don't associate with the likes of stablemice!

Ardea- No horse. I only met him once, but he seems sorta...scary. Very intimidating (Sissy taught me that word!)

Ursa- No horse. I've finally met her! Ursa seems really nice. She helped me figure out what was wrong with my bunny and everything. I feel really bad she's sick, though.

Pappila- No horse. A very pretty and strange little girl. She's too young to talk just yet, but somehow she manages to get her point across just fine anyways. And she seems really really smart already!

Muris' room is pretty simple, and she likes it that way. The floors are plain wood, as are the walls. She's mentioned to Shiaree that she might paint them sometime, but it's unlikely as she tends to appreciate the natural look of them.

It was pretty dusty when she first got up there, but she cleaned it quickly enough. The once-grey curtains on the window are now white again, and Shiaree's bought her some all-new furniture as the old stuff could easily have been condemned.

Against the right wall there's a wooden day bed with white sheets and a soft gray comforter, as well as gray and white striped down pillows with white cases. It's made of thick, heavy wood and was quite difficult for the two of them to move up there because of that and it's bulk.

On the side of it near the door there is a nightstand of the same wood with a small lamp on top of it. The nightstand has two drawers in it where she keeps her various pieces of paper and stuff for writing and reading practice.

Roleplaying log from page 37-36 of the Castellum Argentus thread

Summary: Shiaree is brought to the castle in hopes that she is a kithain--most likely Muris, the mouse. It is found that she is indeed, and she sets the little girl free. Not long after that, she encounters Rosa, who loses interest in Muri the moment she hears the word 'stable' in regards to her, and Aesculus, who seems to be quite nice and invites Muris to call on him at any time to see the mice that live with him in his room. After a short conversation with him, he leaves her to look for his mother, and Muris goes to rest in her room above the stables.
Journal Entry:

I arrived back at the castle not long after Muris finished her conversation with Aesculus. It seems, however, that a lot of her cheerfulness was facade. The girl gets excitable, but when she calms back down, she appears generally rather sweet and easy-going.

Of course, that was before we talked. She's rather bright for her age, not at all unlike my own daughter, Linali. But she is still a four-year-old girl, just as my daughter is. I knew that she would be upset, even if it didn't show after that first bout of tears.

More than likely she was reluctant to show this side of her among the others because she didn't want them to think of her as a baby. She seems very self-conscious about that and about her own rank, and confided (in the manner in which all children confide) to me that perhaps she was mistaken in this, for Aesculus had been nothing but kind to her.

Still, she spent a good deal of the time before she fell asleep in tears. I think that she misses her family more than she will let on. Muri loved her father quite dearly, and her mother only slightly less so. She's still so very young to be on her own, as well.

Hopefully Lady Sun will be able to take care of matters at my home until I feel confident that Muris will be all right here by herself for a while.
Journal Entry:

These past few days have been quite refreshing. Muris is a ray of sunshine, what with her constant sense of childlike wonder. She wanted to write in the journal herself, but as she's still learning her letters, I told her that I would write what she wanted me to put, and that she could then copy it in her own hand.

This, of course, delighted her to no end. As you can see by the ragged scrawls above this page, she did at least -try-.

She informs me that while I was resting, she met several of the other Fey. Lilium, the princess who is to be queen, Alces, a very friendly young man who appears to have the totem of the Elk, and Equus, the horse.

Muris says sthat Lilium seems quite nice if a bit strange for her standoffishness, and that she thinks she could be friends with her if she could find the right words to use when speaking with her.

Alces she definitely likes, as she started going off on a tangent about elk and shaking hands when I asked her what she thought of him.

Equus, of course, she holds in a bit of a state of awe. She loves horses dearly, and I think meeting the man with the horse totem was almost equivalent to one meeting the god of horses or some such for her.

At any rate, after talking with her about this, I took her out to play, and she had a lovely time chasing after birds and tumbling around in the grass. She got quite dirty and I had to give her a bath afterwards (the grass also seemed to give her some red marks-- it seems her skin is very sensitive, because she was quite itchy until the bath removed the last remnants of grass from her skin)

And then I put her to bed. She sleeps with the sort of peacefullness only the very young seem able to achieve.

Roleplaying log from Page 2-3 of Aesculus' journal

Summary: Muris goes over to visit Aesculus as per his offer to show her the mice. The littlest mouse seems to take quite a liking to her, and Aesculus and Muris get along quite well too. Muris asks a bit about the other Fey, wondering if they're as easy to get along with as Aesculus. He informs her that most are, although he seems to think that he's actually not really that nice, but Muris disagrees. Eventually she comes across the idea that he really needs to have more fun, and offers that he come to the stables to play any time he likes.
Roleplay Session Begin

Characters: Muris, Alces

Summary: Alces comes to visit the stables, and finds a curious little stablemouse ready and willing to assist him in finding the perfect horse!

"Who's in the forest strooollinnnngg? The biiirds and beeeees siiinnnng Muuuuriiii...!" The little girl hummed, changing the words for her own benefit. Shiaree's daughter, Linali, had taught her this song when she came to visit the other day. Apparently it was from some sort of play, the details of which Muris didn't really understand, but she definitely thought the song was cute and so had picked up on it rather quickly.

She was lying in her room above the stables, her stomach against the floor as she flipped through the book she'd been studying for a while now. Muris had asked Shiaree how best she could start being smart like Aesculus, and the elf (after laughing for quite a while!) had suggested that she teach the little girl how to read and write. Muris had -some- previous experience with both, but not enough to properly do either, and so she had agreed.

...Which put her where she was, attempting to make sense out of the lines and squiggles on the paper in front of her, chubby little legs pumping up and down as she sang her little tune to the beat of the horses' hooves stamping.

They would -definitely- need to be walked out to the pasture soon...a lot of them were getting pretty impatient.
Alces looked up towards the ceiling in the stables. He hadn't been here all that often and scrunched his nose at the first smell of horses and hay that entered his nose. He looked back ahead of him and eyed all of the horses. He knew the right one for him was here. It had to be. He had seen one horse in particular while Cervus, Equus, and him had been rounding up the horses. Now all he had to do, was find it here in the stables, and take a closer look to see if that horse would indeed be a good one for him. He walked down the center of the stable slowly, taking his time. Not expecting anyone but himself to be here at this time. He stopped and put his arms behind his back. Examing each of the horses trying to find the one he had seen earlier.
Muris stopped a moment, tilting her head to listen. The horses were awfully noisy all of a sudden. Lots of whickering, as though they were trying to get someone's attention. Someone who -wasn't- in the room above their stalls. The footstamping had stopped too.

Had somebody dropped by to walk the horses? Or maybe just to see them. That seemed more likely, with this lot. Then again, Lilium had been by rather frequently to take her horse out for rides, so that could be it too. If it was, she sure was taking her time about getting Zora out there.

Either way, Muris supposed she'd better go walk some of them to the pasture, or they'd get really mad now that somebody was there who -could- let them out. Snapping the book shut, she tossed it onto her bed before sliding open the hatch and releasing the rope ladder she'd contrived to get her up and downstairs.

"Umm...hello? Is that you Miss Lilium?" she asked as her feet hit the ground,
"Are you taking Zora out?"
The boy spun around when he head the voice from behidn him. "Huh?" He asked at first. What the young girl had said didn't quite register until that had come out. "Oh, no. It's not." He answered with a slight smile, "It's me. Alces." It was obvious he hadn't been expecting to see anyone else here and it had somewhat startled him. "I'm sorry if I bothered you. I didn't know anyone lived up there." He made a motion with his head towards where Muris had come from, "And I'm sorry if you were expecting the Queen, only to come here and find me." He moved his hands to his front again and was fingering his bracer around his wrist with his other hand. He smiled wider at Muris and watched her.

After remaning silent for a moment or two he explained why he was here. "I just came here to see if I could find a nice horse for myself. I honestly didn't except to see anyone else here."
