Marionettes begin life as simple blocks of wood. It is up to their puppeteer to carve them a body and then to the Blue Fairy to give them life. A select few are chosen to become carvers of this special wood, they are known as puppeteers.

Once a marionette is carved it is placed before the ancient star tree to be visited by the Blue Fairy. She fills them with life and transforms their wooden bodies into ones of flesh and bone, making them into live children. Like all children, the marionettes need love and care from their parents or in this case their puppeteers.

The wood for the puppets all comes from the Star Tree who gives of her wood rarely but when she does you never know what type she will give. Each different type of wood relates to different physical characteristics that are listed below. (These descriptions are not the end all of what your Marionette's personality has to be like. Mostly they are there as an idea of what your future marionette may look like. How they actually behave is completely up to you, the puppeteer.)

Click on the links below to see examples and learn about the different stages and how long they last.

Stages:

Block of Wood - This is the first stage of a Marionette's life. The gift of wood from the Star Tree is very special indeed. If you listen closely, sometimes you can hear the wood singing to you, guiding you in your carving. One week when heavily roleplayed.

Blank Marionette - You have the basic shape carved out but not much else. Their voices are stronger now though only the puppeteer can hear them. On occasion other family members and marionettes can hear them as well. One week when heavily roleplayed.

Detailed Marionette - Your Marionette is finished! Now you just need to wait your turn to place it beneath the Star Tree. Remember, not everything that your Marionette is wearing will be on it as a child. Their voice is clearly audible to any who will listen. One week or more. It depends on when we have time for your ceremony.

Toddler - Your Marionette is now a real living and breathing child. They will need care and nurturing to grow successfully.

Child - Your Marionette is much more active now that they are a child, they can walk without falling and speak in complete sentences. Just like any typical child.

Teen - You all know how teenagers are; loud, rebellious, they're trying to spread their wings and grow in their own direction.

Adult - They've grown out of their aquward years and are now fully mature physically. This is the age when they are able to choose a life partner to spend the rest of their lives with any maybe one day have children with.

Elder - They've reached their limit in age and are now at the twilight of their lives. They can no longer have children and are at the height of their mental powers if any.

exclaim READ THE RULES I think that's self explanitory.
exclaim No art theft. We work hard on our art and you should as well.
exclaim Be patient. Marionettes are very time consuming to draw and color, if there are none available please try to be patient and wait for one.
exclaim Do not pm us. If you have a question ask it in the thread. If we do not respond within a day or so post it again, we may have missed it.
exclaim Only one Marionette per person. There will not be many of these available so I would like to see as many puppeteers with Marionettes as possible.
exclaim Roleplaying is a MUST. I cannot stress this enough. If you do not roleplay your Marionette regularly not only will it not mature, it will also be returned and given to someone with more time.
exclaim Journals must be updated weekly. Each Marionette will recieve a journal in the breedable's roleplaying section. These must be updated regularly to record the progress of your marionette.
exclaim Have fun! Don't let the rules scare you away. Being a Marionette owner is supposed to be fun despite the hard work. You'll be able to watch him or her grow from a simple block of wood to a full grown adult if you take the time to take care of them.

Marionettes will be purchaced during flatsales and the occasional custom auction. Flatsales will be 5,000 gold and auctions will start at 5,000 and go as high as people are willing to spend. Our flatsales will not be done first come first served. There will be a few questions that each puppeteer will have to answer. We will pick the ones that we like best to recieve marionettes.

He who would have a Marionette
Must answer me
These questions three
Ere the purchace just won't be.

(Here are the questions!)

These questions must be answered as fully as possible for you to even be considered in the flatsale. The four best entries will recieve one of the four available blocks.

1. If you recieve a Marionette, how will you roleplay it? What he or she looks like doesn't have to have any bearing on their personalities. So tell us, what will your marionette be like? If you want you can submit seperate male and a female personalities if they would be different.

2. Imagine that you have your own marionette and they are at the child stage. They have gotten into some sort of mischief and you have to deal with it. Please roleplay out this scenario.

3. Why should we choose you to be a puppeteer? They require a lot of time and effort, so convence us, without begging, why you are the best canidate to become a puppeteer.

Remember, be as descriptive as possible with your answers. We don't need a book but there should be more than a few sentences for each question as well.

Also, be sure that you have your gold ready! If you don't have the 5,000 gold when we ask for it you become disqualified and the next best entry will replace you as the winner.

Owners will be required to keep a frequently updated journal on the carving and the lives of their marionettes. Owning a marionette is a big responsibility, without their owners love and support they will be unable to mature. Only the owners should post in the journals unless they have the permission of the individual puppeteer. Posting in anothers journal is a banable offense. If you are a puppeteer and do not update your journal regularly you will at first recieve a small reminder. Then a warning. After that... well. You will no longer be a puppeteer.

When two adult Marionettes decide that they want to spend the rest of their lives together, they form a pair bond beneath the branches of the Star Tree. They speak to eachother of their love and comitment to eachother and their puppeteers give a gift of gold as an offering and to show their support. If they are true, the Star Tree will bless the union by giving of a block of wood. This block will be given to a new puppeteer based on their ability to care for the new marionette. (Some type of contest will be held.)

The Process

Since the joining does not require any sort of physical activity from those involved, any gender of Marionette can create a block together. To actually set up the process, please follow the following steps.

1. If there is a breeding slot available, send Chie or Feinxyn a pm with the names of the two marionettes that will be joining.
2. We will set up a date and time when the ceremony will take place. Either Chie or I will have to be in attendance as well as both pairs of Marionettes and Puppeteers.
3. We will need 4,000 gold from each puppeteer to use as an offering for the Star Tree.
4. After the ceremony takes place and the newly formed pair has their block of wood, a contest will be held to find an appropriate owner for the new Marionette.

The Star Tree is an ancient tree that would take six people holding hands to circle its massive trunk. Rumor holds that it was planted by the moon godess herself. On certain nights out of the month the tree gives gifts of magical wood. Pressing your ear against the wood you can almost hear it singing with magic.

The Star Tree plays an important role in both the spontainous creation of a Marionette and also the joining of two adult Marionettes that can result in a child. When two Marionettes are of age and decide that they want to spend the rest of eternity together, they proclaim their vows to the Star Tree who will bless the union when a gift of gold is presented by the Marionette's Puppeteers. After the ritual is complete, the newly formed couple will be blessed with a magical block of wood, formed by the love of the couple.

Apointments

At one point or another, every marionette needs to make an apointment to visit the Star Tree so that the Blue Fairy can grant them true life. The following marionettes are ready for their appointments.

No one knows exactly where the blue fairy comes from but we do know that she is the one that breathes life into the lifeless marionettes. When the puppeteer wishes upon the wishing star on behalf of their marionette she arrives to give her blessing upon the little wooden child. Now it is up to the puppeteer to raise their new child. How they turn out is entirely up to the puppeteer. Marionettes can be anything from a dancer to a fighter, nice and kind or rough and tough. The posibilities are limitled by that of the puppeteer.

Role Playing is very important when it comes to Marionettes. Not only is this nessisary for them to meet other marionettes, without proper socialization your marionette's growth could be stunted or worse yet, your marionette could be taken from you. If you're thinking about getting yourself a marionette be sure you have a fair amount of free time on your hands.

For now all roleplaying should be done in the main thread until we (if ever) create a roleplaying thread. Feel free to include your other pets or children in your role playing, and most importantly, have a great time!

If you have a question, check here before you ask one of us. Also, if your answer isn't here it may be in another section of this page, please check throughly before asking.

Q: When are you going to have a flatsale/auction?
A: Marionettes take a long time to get ready. We will announce all flatsales and auctions in the sale section of the thread. Keep checking there for dates and times.

Q: Can I reserve a marionette?
A: No. There are so few marionettes that it would be unfair. For the flatsales it's whoever can answer our questions the best in the time alloted that will become a puppeteer.

Q: How long will each stage last?
A: There are a few factors that determine how fast your marionette will grow and the main one is how often you roleplay in the thread. Owners who never or rarely roleplay will find the growth of their marionettes stunted or even halted. If this happens the puppeteer will recieve first a warning then have their marionette taken away. With active roleplaying the wooden stages to becoming a real child should take close to a month. The real stages each take different amounts of time that we're not sure of yet.
