Strawbery's Parlor

User Image

This is where Huni Pi takes care of her Scoop, Strawberry. Please, may only those who have been invited post.

Strawberry’s Note

Out of these classic flavors, Strawberry is definitely the most fun and outgoing. Armed with style and a smile, this pretty pink girl makes friends with ease. Though, there is still a bit of bite to her so don’t think she is always sugary.

I couldn't believe my good fortune! I had been entrusted to care for this scrumptiously darling child! And it's not just any child, no siree bob! It's a Scoop! I'd hug the darling ice cream but... Pun's going to kill me for getting ice cream all over me.

Besides, he or she is still in the first stage. I wouldn't want to upset him physically. So I lowered the thermostat and made the house colder. A lot of the others didn't like the idea of having a chilly house... Well tough! Or maybe I should just keep Strawberry (or Straw as I'll call him or her)) in one room in the meantime. And I'll keep that room really cold.

Plus I'll have to set up some form of security measures, I wouldn't want anyone trying to eat him or her, now, would I? And just to make sure, I'll be telling everyone NOT to eat Straw. They so much as try and heads will roll!!!

Straw has grown!! Doesn't she look absolutely delicious?! Now that she can speak and move about, she's become so curious about everything. While she's still not that solid, I've decided to carry her around in her bowl. I've done that with Tara, and Khun Ying, so Straw shouldn't be difficult. Although she did try to hug the velvet, and I had just given her a bath... We stopped by the kitchen, just so I could see if I needed to buy anything.

Nyeta made the mistake of thinking Straw was some novelty ice cream and asked if she could have a taste. My baby bawled in horror at the sight of the spoon, and the bodyguard screamed back in surprise.

"You didn't tell me that thing was alive!!!" Nyeta gasped, scrambling away from the wailing Straw.

"What?! I did!! You just never listen to me. Serves you right for trying to eat her!" I growled, "There, there, Straw. It's alright, mama won't let the mean scary kitty eat you. Nyeta, apologize!"

"No friggin' way!! Food should not have faces!" Nyeta insisted, and after the Scoop gave Nyeta a most watery eyed whimper, the tressym conceded. "That's really low, using the puppy-dog eyes on me." I only laughed and decided never to bring Straw into the kitchen until she was older.

In any case, after I left the house, we went to the wax museum. I figured it was cold enough for Straw since if the place was warm all the wax would melt. She didn't quite like the horror part, and truthfully neither did I. So to help comfort the both of us, we hugged Khun Ying. This means I'll have to give her another bath, and Pun will have my head for getting ice cream all over me.

After the wax museum, I noticed Straw was getting restless, as if she wanted to move about. So I brought her to the shop, unfortunately, either we're too early or we're too late as it was empty. She looked a bit disappointed, but I promised her we'd go back some other time.

I've been such an awful parent... I haven't done much with Straw, other than bring her to the Velveteen Toychest and the Fenthry Preservation Society. I need to spend more quality time with her, but things have been really... hectic.

The sem is ending in a few months so all the deadlines have started to pile up. I was typing my part for the marketing project (which will end when I die or the sem ends, whichever comes first) when Straw started gurgling from her bowl. I had set up a baby talkie near her so I could hear if she was awake.

In any case, she was babbling and it helped calm me down hearing her. I got fed up with marketing and decided to watch some musicals with Straw and the others. Getting a little baby scoop to pay attention to a show is hard work! She kept insisting that she sits close to the screen when I told her the radiation from the tv might melt her.

Although it is my fault since radiation isn't something a baby would understand. So I told her (God punish me for this) that a monster lives in the tv and if Straw gets too close it will eat her. Maybe when she's older I'll explain to her the 'monster' isn't really a monster but the said radiation...

In any case, I think Straw only watched fifteen minutes of "Hello Dolly" and the remaining 60 minutes were spent explaining and trying to keep her from getting all over the place. I had covered the bed with a plastic, but that proved uber uncomfortable... the things I do to keep Straw near me. But she's well worth it.

Alright, the house is FREEZING because... the kitchen went kablooey recently. I tried to bake something, but ended up destroying the kitchen. Unfortunately, the kitchen's wiring is connected to the heater and... well... no kitchen means no heat... so Straw's environment is perfect for her. The rest of us, however, are freezing our noses off.

In any case, Straw still drips a lot whenever she insists on crawling out of her bowl. She doesn't do that often, thankfully. Still, she's showing independence at a fairly early age I'd say.

She can't sit still when she's intersted in something else, but that's children I suppose. And she wakes up at the wonkiest time, my body's internal clock is all confused now. She woke up at 2 am, just when I'm starting to really sleep. She started to cry for attention, so I had to read her a book until she settled back down.

What was the book? I would have read her my Theo book but she'd only start crying for a different book. So I grabbed the nearest kiddy-type book and ended up with a cook book. She loved the pictures... and when I read the recipes to her, she soon fell asleep. Short attention-spans, gotta love them.

Huni stretched her arms above her head, absently rubbing her nape. She had been reading aloud to her 'children,' pets seemed too derogatory. Besides, according to Scott Peck, pets are conditioned to be dependent on their owners. But Huni wanted everyone living in the house to be independent, hence she refered to them as her children, in spite of their non-human appearance.

The book was a graphic novel, actually one of the three she intends to read to them. Done by a Filipino named Arnold Arre the book is entitled "After Eden." Straw was balanced on a nearby coffee table, Ora and Tara rested on one shoulder each, Khun Ying (being the cuddliest) was in her arms.

Nyeta and Pun had read "After Eden" before, and were not interested in hearing it for the nth time. Tylan didn't really care while Hao and Hoai were too busy upstairs in the attic doing who-knows-what.

It was not a love story, one set in a society so much like today. At least, from a Filipino's perspective, it was three love stories. She would often sigh wistfully at some scenes, and though she tried to minimize her laughter, Huni was -is easily amused. Ora and Tara often had to grip onto her hair to keep their balance.

But after the warm fuzzy feeling had subsided, Huni found herself unconsciously explaining why she was still 'single' and didn't have an "Adam." Single blessedness and all it's burden, the rejection of the Noah's Ark mentality and all that, and yet she told them never to close their heart to love. Huni insisted that she hasn't, for she has had no reason to, although it was questionable whom she was trying to convince.

Once Straw started drifting to sleep, she picked up the others and tucked them to bed. Kissing each of them a goodnight, with the exception of Ora who wanted no part of getting her hair messed up. Huni only chuckled as she brushed the Aeya's hair.

An exhausted red head was snoring on the bed, with Khun Ying cuddled up next to her. Tara was snuggled up with the panda and all three were on Huni's bed. On a table nearby was Straw's bowl, where the Scoop was gurgling in her sleep.

Several story books and flash cards were strewn around Straw's table, indicating their earlier activity. Some of the cards had dollops of strawberry ice cream on them, and were sticking to each other. The pink child was so quiet, something that she wasn't when awake. She wasn't loud per se, just active verbally.

Though the Scoop had yet to say her first word, her babble was nearing verbal coherence. She almost said "Mama" but ended up giggling "Glaawaaa." Oh she was such an active little thing, usually trying to crawl out of her bowl. She never did get out all the way, perhaps it was just a means of getting Huni's attention back to her?

Her eyes opened and began to wail, jarring the red head, the fenthry and the panda awake. Khun Ying was the first to reach her, the little green panda always had a soft spot for the Scoop. However, Khun Ying wasn't tall enough to reach the table top so instead she began to 'sing.'

It wasn't a song exactly, more like a melodic purring that seemed to soothe the listener. Straw unfortunately wanted Huni's attention and continued to cry until she got it.

Sleepily the red head smiled at the Scoop, while patting the panda affectionately on the head. "Go on to bed, Khun Ying." she bade the velveteen animal. "And I wont take no for an answer. You can keep Tara occupied or sing her a lullaby." Huni suggested, anticipating the panda's response.

Once Khun Ying climbed back into bed with the Fenthry, Huni picked up Straw's bowl. "Well love, what is it? You hungry? Hot?"

The pink child shook her head and clapped her hands while pointing to the flash cards. "Ah, pretty pictures again?" Huni said, trying to keep the tiredness out of her voice. "Okay, but this is the last time, mommy needs to sleep."

Half an hour passed, with the cards and Huni's hands getting stickier and sticker thanks to Straw's dripping. It was a little after two am before Straw decided she wanted to sleep again and allow her mother to do the same.

"Night Straw, sleep well."

We're moving today... to a small little village. Why? I was summoned for some reason or another, it hasn't been revealed to me exactly but I had to bring Stawberry and Khun Ying. Tara, Ora and the others stay here at the Agency with Pun and Nyeta.

In any case, I packed and asked the tressym siblings to bring the stuff to the village... I just hope Strawberry doesn't melt there.

God, that move took longer than I thought it would, plus getting Strawberry to adjust to a new envorinment was hard... we've settled in fine. Though I think Strawberry misses the old house...

And would you look at that? After unpacking the rest of the stuff, we found this little cutie buried under tons of clothes... my clothes to be exact since I'm the only one wearing clothes... anyway it's a bunny plush, and ever since Khun Ying came to life, Straw's been looking for something else to huggle and drool on.

((semi-cross referenced to my Memory Doll and velveteen journal))

Strawberry peered from her bowl as her 'little brother' Jare tried to crawl towards her bowl. She didn't like the way he was eyeing her, and quite frankly she was just ready to cry. Until that is her big brother Marl arrived to pick the magus child up.

It's no fair! Why does he get all the attention? Strawberry wondered, trying to climb out of her bowl. Just then her big sis Khun Ying came to her, carrying the pink bunny plush. Quickly she grabbed it from the panda's mouth and promptly started gnawing on its ear.

She gurgled and giggled as the panda sang to her, and nuzzled her own nose against the panda's. Other than Khun Ying, Strawberry didn't seem to care about Jare, or Marl or Malady. But her mom arrived and gently pressed her cheek against hers before cuddling up with her big sis.

"Straw, honey, after mommy and Khun Ying go out, we'll go on a date. Just the two of us, would you like that?"

Strawberry didn't quite understand what her mommy just said, but she nodded nevertheless, she somehow knew her mommy wanted her to nod. She clapped and giggled around the bunny plush, babbling to everyone in a most adorable way.
