Golden Sun and its sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, are RPGs released on the Game Boy Advance. In them, you take control of a group of young heroes journeying to rescue kidnapped friends and save their world from destruction.

Plot Synopsis: Long ago in the land of Weyard, the power of Alchemy flourished and people were in touch with the elements that made up everything; Jupiter: the forces of wind, Mars: the powers of fire, Mercury: the gift of water, and Venus: the strength of earth. People could manipulate these elements at will with the power of their mind. However, Alchemy was deemed to be too dangerous for man to control. The power was sealed away by the Elemental Lighthouses and their keys, the Elemental Stars, were hidden in the Sol Sanctum deep within the bowels of Mount Aleph. Since the seal was enacted, the power known as Psynergy waned in the world, and just a few remain who can command it. Those that did were called Adepts.

Though the seal put upon it is strong, it is said that if Alchemy was ever unleashed again, the world would be thrown into upheaval and chaos. Life itself would end. Naturally, there are those who would see it unleashed once more.

Three years after a horrific accident, Isaac, a young Venus Adept from the small town of Vale, unwittingly finds himself on a quest to stop two mysterious Mars Adepts from firing the beacons of the sacred lighthouses. Saturos and Menardi, who stole the Elemental Stars from their holding place, now held the key to the fate of the world. Worse yet, they abducted the young hero's teacher Kraden and friend Jenna. Given little choice, Isaac and his best friend Garet set out to stop the evil Adepts from destroying the world. On their adventure they meet new allies in the wise Jupiter Adept Ivan, and the Mercury Adept healer, Mia. With these two new friends, Isaac and Garet explore a world full of rich characters and landscapes, tricky puzzles, dangerous monsters, and a deep, complex plot.

Plot Synopsis: Golden Sun: The Lost Age picks up directly after GS1, this time putting you in control of Felix, his sister Jenna, the mysterious young girl Sheba, and newcomer Piers (also known as Picard, his Japanese name), as they quest to light the Lightouse beacons. Vetrans of GS1 will likely miss Isaac and company but don't worry, they join up again late in the game, giving you an eight person party. TLA is a much longer game than GS1, involving challenging puzzles, a vast sea to explore, and many new summons and Djinn to collect. While some argue it is not as good as its predecessor, it is still amazingly fun to play and nicely concludes the Golden Sun storyline.




=Elements, Alchemy, and Adepts=


The world of Golden Sun revolves around the four Elements: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. These four elements make up the power of Alchemy. Furthermore, some people are able to tap into the elements and use 'Psynergy'- psychic or elemental energy- to perform amazing feats. These people are called 'Adepts'. Here's a rundown of the four types of Adepts:

Venus: Earth Adepts. Can cause damage with earthquakes and stone spires. Also knows limited healing magic, and the invaluable 'Revive' technique.

Mars: Fire Adepts. Can cause damage with flames. Female Mars Adepts can learn Aura healing spells, which cure the entire party.

Jupiter: Wind Adepts. Can cause damage with wind and lightning. Jupiter Adepts can also read minds, peer into the future, and Reveal the unseen.

Mercury: Water Adepts. Can cause damage with ice and water. Mercury Adepts are great healers, keeping the party healthy with their Ply techniques. Female Mercury Adepts can learn Wish, which heals the entire party.

Information:

The main hero of Golden Sun. He is your party leader and is commonly viewed as the most versatile party member. Balanced in offensive and defensive capabilities, he is the spearhead of any strategy your party undertakes. Isaac is a good-hearted but brave young man who has the task of saving the world thrown on his shoulders rather suddenly. Though his leadership abilities are excellent, his decision making skills are lacking somewhat. He is easily identifiable by his spiky blonde hair, blue eyes, and long, yellow scarf.

Information:

Garet is Isaac's oldest friend and most trusted companion. Blessed with immense stamina and strength, Garet is a force to be reckoned with in battle. His one downfall is that his Psynergy is weaker than the other party members. He is a very loyal person, and stands by Isaac throughout the game. Garet's temper is quicker to flare than Isaac's, and he has a tendency to shoot his mouth off at the wrong time. He can also be somewhat dense. Despite this, Garet is a firm ally and should never be taken lightly.

Information:

The adoptive son of the successful merchant Hammet, Ivan has both intelligence and wisdom despite being the youngest party member. He is the primary offensive Adept whose Wind based abilities tear through large groups of enemies quickly. Though physically very frail, Ivan is extremely quick with both his feet and his mind. He is often quiet and reserved, only inputting his opinion when he believes it necessary. Ivan was isolated through most of his youth due to his mind-reading abilities, but he quickly formed a strong friendship with Isaac and Garet upon meeting them. After a series of events that prevent him from carrying out the duties he has placed upon himself, he joins Isaac's party to help protect the world.

Information:

A usually quiet and calm woman, Mia serves as the group's primary healer. She often is a voice of reason in the party, due to her intelligent nature. The Mercury Adept hails from the town of Imil, not far from the Mercury Lighthouse, where she serves as its guardian. When Isaac's party arrives in the small town, she eventually joins after being assisted by the group.
Though she lacks strong offensive capabilities, Mia is perhaps the most valued member of the team because she keeps everyone alive during combat. At high enough class levels, she can heal the entire group in a single round.

Information:

Felix is a Venus Adept and the main character of Golden Sun: The Lost Age. In the first game, Felix was presumed dead after the fateful night when the Mt. Aleph boulder fell on Vale. After three years, Felix reappeared along with Alex, Saturos, and Menardi to take the Elemental Stars. He is reunited with his sister Jenna when she and Kraden are taken as hostages. After the events of the first game, Felix ends up washed ashore on a floating island and begins a journey of his own. Felix is on a quest to light all four elemental beacons, something that the elders of Vale deem a threat to the world. However, he has reasons for his actions, which are revealed as the game progresses. He is accompanied at first by Sheba, Jenna, and the scholar Kraden, and is later joined by Piers. It has been told that Felix's fate is a burden that would not be wished upon any man.

Jenna is a pushy, headstrong, short-tempered, auburn haired Mars Adept. She is the sister of Felix, whom she thought was dead along with her parents after the boulder incident three years ago. Her best friends are Garet and Isaac. She was taken hostage along with Kraden by Saturos and company when they returned to steal the Elemental Stars.
Jenna constantly worries that one-day, her two best friends and her brother will have to fight each other, or worse, one of them might be killed. Though she comes off mean at times, she's actually very sympathetic. She just likes things to go her way. You first control Jenna when escaping the Venus Lighthouse, and meet up with Felix on Idejima.

Information:

Sheba is a Jupiter Adept who "fell from the sky" at a young age near the town of Lalivero. Her strange and unique powers caused her to be worshiped as a child of the Gods. A year before the beginning of GS1, she was taken hostage by Babi, the ruler of Tolbi, as leverage so he could force the people of Lalivero to build a tower. She has despised Babi ever since. When Babi finally allowed her to go home to Lalivero, her group was ambushed and she was kidnapped by Saturos and Menardi and taken to the Venus Lighthouse. When the Venus beacon was lit, the shaking of the lighthouse threw her off into the ocean, and Felix dove in after her, thus causing them both to wash ashore and begin the events of TLA. Though Sheba is not physically strong, her Jupiter Psynergy remains a huge asset to the team.

Information:

Piers comes from the ancient island of Lemuria. Like all his people, he is a Mercury Adept. He was sent by the King of Lemuria to learn more about the world outside their island and test a theory about Alchemy. While leaving, a gigantic tidal wave swept over his ship and he crashed on the continent of Indra. He was taken by the people of Madra, believed to be a member of a pirate crew that had raided their town. With the help of Felix, Piers is eventually proven innocent, and he decides to help them in their journey to light the beacons.
Piers's true age remains unknown, as Lemurians are able to live for hundreds of years with the help of the magical waters of their spring.
Note: Piers' Japanese name is Picard, though this was changed for the English version because of the five character name limit. Many fans still prefer to call him Picard.

Sunshine's Forge

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, there is a smith named Sunshine in the city of Yallam. Sunshine will forge useful armor and weapons for you using items dropped by monsters. Sunshine will eventually be able to forge some of the best equipment in the game, including the powerful Excalibur longsword.

Golden Sun and Golden Sun : The Lost Age will always be cool.I own them both and play sometimes :l.I already beat both games a few times and got everything in my transfered file.My favorite character is Felix just because he is a lonewolf but he wants to protect his sister surprised .My favorite type of Djinni ? Venus surprised ..Got to love Judgment ! biggrin

I figured someone probably had made one sometime in the past, but since it's disappeared now... might as well make a new one. And I have no intention of letting this one die. wink So, who's you guy's favorite characters? Mines Ivan, as the sig shows. He's just so adorable. heart I only wish there was more of him in TLA... While Felix's team is cool, I really missed playing as Isaac. It just didn't feel right with his group as secondary characters.

i got both but i had the second one b4 the first and i think i'm halfway on the first i'm not to sure. i can't find piers on the second 1.

I have both games. I loved them to death, and still do, but I haven't played it much lately. My favorite character would probably be Ivan.

Probably because I played it over and over to the point where I memorized everything.

I was on my twelth playthrough with about 192 hours in total playtime when the girl in Yallam who asks you about children's songs trapped me against the wall and I had to restart. stressed

Whoa... I didn't know that could happen... That sounds horrible... eek My farthest game file in TLA is 63:47, but I had another one with about 40 or so hours on it that I eventually deleated. It was a continued game file after beating the game the first time, but it wasn't any fun because Isaac & Co's stats don't transfer... xp My longest file in GS1 is 42:42. wink I haven't touched it since cause that time is so cool. But yes... I'll have to remember to stay away from that Yallam girl from now on...
