Mewling Lunatic

This is Nightmare Jester's Mendel SL, and only she should be posting please. If you would like to learn more about the Mendels, visit the thread here.

> 11/3/04 - Diary created, and Carbon was transferred to you! Due to his regression back into a powder, he has no memory of his former life and has been placed back into a tube. Hopefully, with care, he'll emerge?

Personality: Playful and mischevious, Antimony likes life to be fun and enjoyable. He has a thing for "borrowing" shiny objects and considers himself a thief, but honestly, his antics are harmless. He's a bit meek when it comes to confrontation, however.

> 11/10/04 - Carbon's emerged! With absolutely NO memory of his previous life and previous owner. How strange - maybe it's a coping mechanism of some kind. Either way, it's a relief to see he's okay!

Personality: Carbon's a total playboy. If it's got two legs and a nice twitch, he's after it like a shot. Charming, relaxed, and rather flighty. Not the brightest and perhaps a bit shallow, but honestly, he normally has good intentions.

:: ahoy ::
So for some reason TODAY is the first day for me to have an SL. I've never really bothered to keep
one before, mostly because I'm so busy. I'm not entirely sure what's compelled me to start keeping
one now. I think it's Carbon's sad state that's made me decide to keep a public log. It's something
that's never quite happened before with a Mendel, and I think it'd be best if it were documented
somewhere.

For now, he seems to be pretty dormant in his tube. Perhaps with some luv and care again we'll start
to see some activity from him. I certainly hope so. ; ; I'll continue to pamper him and make note
of his condition here for anyone interested.

Let's all hope for the best!

:: Progress ::
Carbon moved a little today!! He sifted a little in his tube, sort of like sand does in an hourglass. I couldn't
help but the jibblies a little to think that the dust is slightly coherant, if at all, but reminded myself that
this means Carbon isn't dead! Puchi had assured me that he would theoretically be reborn if he
was placed in emergency care, but that didn't keep me from worrying about the little bugger. You
know how those crazy scientist types are anyway. Cant believe a word until you see it for yourself!

. . . .

"Emergency care." NJ pondered to herself. What exactly was emergency care for a test tube? Puchi
had failed to elaborate on the subject, and being an artist, NJ had completely forgotten to ask.

"Well, I suppose this is sort of a mendel equivalent to a severe depression, right?" the artist
asked the stagnat tube. Naturally, and thankfully, there was no reply. NJ had spoken to many inanimate
objects before, but if one actually came and talked back that might've scarred her for life.

"Well, when I'm down I like to get out and forget stuff," NJ set the tube down in a pile of laundry
(clean, mind you) and sat down, legs folded underneath her, opposite of it. "Get my mind off all the
blasted things that're wrong and just feel GOOD for bit."

She was mostly talking to herself, trying to come up with a good way to pull the powder out of
depression. This was going to be tough. Weren't artists supposed to be interesting people?
They were the most boring, at least she though. Hours on end spent staring at a piece of
paper or a computer screen. She couldn't do that with Carbon! Oh no. He'd stay a little pile
of charcoal forever that way. Then she felt a sudden pang of guilt as she thought about Anti.
Wasn't that what she did with him all the time? Aie. Where was the little thing, anyway?

NJ redirected her attentions toward the tube. "Well! I guess we've got a full day ahead of us!"

And it had been a full day. Keeping in mind all the things that Carbon liked in his - er -
former life, NJ did what she fancied a rather good job of keeping the little thing entertained all
day. She at least felt better. There had been thoughtful driving to a mix CD of j-rock and
j-pop artists that she thought Carbon might fancy, a walk down Elm street to see all the colorful
people, clubs, and cafes, plenty of Skies of Arcadia and GG: Isuka, a good walk around Barnes &
Noble with a warm starberry hot chocolate, and of course, time sitting at home reading her
collection of manga and doujinshi.

NJ was actually feeling quite chipper after all that, but Carbon had yet to show any positive signs.

Halfway through a volume of Zombie Powder (which she had been sharing with Carbon, showing
him interesting pages and halfway explaining the plot), NJ sighed and looked up at Carbon, who
was still propped up in the snuggle pile of laundry.

"Hmmmm," she glanced down at the open page. She blinked a few times, a light seemlingly going on
in her empty head. "Wait!! Ohohoh, I got it. Wait just a second Carbon. You're gonna love this."

NJ grinned snarkily and pulled over her sketchbook, pulling it open to the first empty page and
begin scratching at it with a mechanical pencil. Minutes passed, but the sly grin never left her face.

"There!" NJ scooted across the rug over to Carbon and lay the sketchbook open for
the tube to look at. She pointed at a small sketch in the corner, still smiling crookedly.
"See that? If you ever make it outa there, that's what's waitin' for ya."

And thats when Carbon sifted.
