Bumping to support Gaia's charities

Welcome to the *bump-a-thon* thread, where every bump you make raises gold for your favourite Gaia charity. Please read the rules before you start bumping for charity. smile

Introduction

Have you ever been on a quest? Have you ever thought "I'd like to give something to a charity, but I can't because I'm questing right now?" If you have, then the *bump-a-thon* is for you.

All you have to do is make as few as 25, 50 or 100 bumps in this thread, and then donate the gold you get while making those bumps to the charity you'd like to help. Your quest total will not go down because you don't have to give away gold or items you've already quested for. It's as simple as that.

You do not have to give away special events (pink links, enchanted trunks and giftboxes) that you get while bumping for charity. But please post in one of your bumps that you got a special event and I will keep a tally for the thread. smile

If you don't have time to donate your bumps to charity you can sponsor someone else in their bumps. You can agree to match their total gold raised and donate that to the same charity. Or you can donate an item or a set amount of gold. Some charities (especially the newbie charities) are happy to accept unwanted clothing items. Please check the CF link-list.

You might also like to organise a group bump with your friends, with the proceeds going to your nominated charity. Group bumps are always fun to do. smile

The *bump-a-thon* welcomes bumps from all. If you're not ready to join the *bump-a-thon* you can still bump the thread as often as you wish.

The *Bump-a-thon* Rules

1. The *bump-a-thon* is NOT a charity. Do NOT send donations directly to the *bump-a-thon*. All donations should be made to the charity you support.

2. Select your charity. Please only choose a Gaia charity. If you'd like to bump for your friends (or yourself) do it in your own quest threads. You can find a list of Gaia charities here:

3. Decide how many bumps you will do. Please be realistic. Doing around 25, 50 or 100 bumps is a good goal to start out with, 10000 isn't, unless you want to do a group bump.

4. Now that you have a charity and are ready, tally your current gold. Then start bumping and number each bump you do.

5. When you have made your bumps, tally your gold again. Donate the difference between what you started with and what you ended with. Make a post here to let us know how much you raised and that you've sent off your donation. (You don't have to donate pink links, enchanted trunks and gift-boxes during your bump-a-thon. But please tell us if you get a special item while bumping for charity so we can add it to the tally for the thread.)

6. Make sure you remember to make the donation you've promised. The charity owners will know if you haven't sent them the donation. (And God will kill a furry kitten, so make sure you donate as promised!)

Rules for 'Group' bumps

Doing a group bump is much the same as an individual bump. Everyone should tally their gold before they start. Number your bumps and correct them as you go. Don't worry if you're off by one or two bumps, just have fun! Tally your gold at the end, and send the donation to the charity you nominated.

Even if you don't have the time to enter the *bump-a-thon* there are other ways you can help.

1. Just bump the thread. The *bump-a-thon* welcomes bumps, to show you support Gaia's charities. Please bump this thread as often as you wish. (But please do not number your bumps unless you are bumping for charity as a *bump-a-thon* entrant.)

2. Many charities accept small gifts of gold or clothing. Please see the link list and give a gift to the charity of your choice.

3. Sponsor a *bump-a-thon* entrant. You could match their donation when they have completed their *bumps* for charity, or offer an item or gold (your choice) to the entrant's charity.

4. Encourage your friends to *bump* for charity. smile

5. Make a link to the *bump-a-thon* in your quest and charity threads. You can link to our banner using this code:
