Long ago, near the land of Egypt, was a nomadic tribe of peoples. They came, finally, into Memphis, and were banished, and brutally attacked by the peoples of Egypt. Driven from home, and with no country hospitable to the people, they wandered to the East. In China, they were welcomed, and treated well, however, they were kept seperate, for they were a godless people. It wasn't until the old emporer died did China too, shun them. Distraught, they fled to the sea in small boats carved from wood.
And finally they came to islands, and, half starved and weak, they were welcomed by a shining woman with golden eyes and raven black hair. She fed them, and cared for them, and tended their needs. When they were healthy, it was as if she vanished. None knew her name until encountering a native people. And they learned they had been blessed by the Goddess Amaterasu.
In their thanks, they settled in land by the sea, and they rose a shrine, a shrine of thanks and praise for Amaterasu's kindness. And a day came when a man emerged from the temple, golden eyes glowing as Hers did, and they knew at once she was a child of Amaterasu, and they knew not his name, save for how much like a cat he looked and behaved. And, thus, came to worship him as a god, among the other children of the Goddess.
Finally, the day came when he had to leave for war, and he left the peoples, who were so thankful to the Goddess. And he was slain, and when he fell, all at once, it was known in the village. All that remained of him in their temple was a gold and red tapestry, bearing his image. And it was said he would return, looking again, as a mix of the cat god, and of these people.
