Jan 11th Oh hey look at that, we're back in business, and off to a grand start! Growings galore, a couple moving into the breeding house and more!. I must admit I'm disappointed in the lack of RP in the time I wen't on shop hiatus till this point.
Dec 11th Shop owner taking a temporary hiatus, she has overwhelmed herself with work. Growths that she feels need to be done are likely to just 'happen' without prompts so PLEASE pay attention to the status of your Balan. Please dont take this as an excuse to quit RPing though...

...At one time the Balan Levain lived a peaceful existance, With their Alphas the Stromwings as their leaders. The Clesits were the second group of the Balan Levain race. While the two groups did not get along very well with each other they had gotten along quite well with the Pae'il race. The Ancient City was a part of much larger island. Kippu River once flowed through the Ancient City, rather than off the edge of Telrunya island. The City housed the majority of the Balan Levain, they were close friends and allies of the race of Pae'il, though some Balan lived in small villages all over the island with the Pae'il.

...Over time the Balan began to notice changes in how the Pae'il accted towards each other, they noticed the forming of a seperation between the two types. They notices the battles and very soon the Balan left the island returning to the City. There they stayed and watched the battles. That is until the fateful day when the Stromwing Alphas, the prominent leaders of their kind, appealed to the Guardians to seperate their land into two. For they saw no end to the warring and did not believe their allies would ever be at peace again. The Stromwings feared for the safety of their race.

...With their awesome powers the Guardians rent Telrunya and the City of the Balan apart. To punish the Pae'il, they did nothing to cushion the earth-shattering effects of the Sundering for the island, while the City itself felt little at the tearing. However, because the Balan Alpha had requested such an extreme and permanent action, the Guardians let the city fall to Gaia. The crash was cataclysmic, the island landing a distance away and becoming a large pile of ruins. Many fires came from this as well as the death of the majority of the Balan who were on the isle, very few eggs survived the crash, and the Stromwing Alpha one of the Balan who met their fate in the crash.

Excerpt From the Great Journals

What we had was paradise. We lost everything when the fire came, smashing our homes and our lives to bits. We tried our best to save the eggs, but none of us will make it out alive. They say we will, but they're lying. We're going to sacrifice ourselves so that the future might last a little longer, get a tenacious foothold and live. We will die, but we will not die in vain! Already I have seen all that I have loved, all that I have held dear to my heart, vanish in the blink of an eye. I doubt even this will survive the inferno raining down around us. But if it does, please rememberâ€¦. *the rest is singed off*

...Today's Balan know very little about the past, and next to nothing about the Pae'il race. The Alphas of hte age had either died or disappeared, the surviving adults also passing on before the Two remaining eggs of the Stromwing and Clesit lines hatched. The two new Alpha's knowing nothing about the past united their clans. They lived on the land finding homes and soon meeting a new enemy, the Shadow creatures. After a great battle with the Shadows and suceeding to defeat them, the two Alphas along with one of their Caretakers, used their powers to rebuild the city and lift it back into the air, they didn't however expect the pull that the ancient lands had, that brought Telrۮya island and the city back together.

...While the rejoining was unexpected the Alphas are determined to repopulate the streets of their great city and get to know their neighbours once again
Also a note on the Pae'il. While the societies of the Pae'il and the Balan were integrated, the Pae'il were still somewhat aloof. All of their important documents were kept within their villages, and privy only to their own race. After the Sundering, any information the Balan had on the Pae'il was lost.

Q: What happened to my Levain?! ITS GONE!
A: Well, if you didn't rp your Levain three (3) weeks after it the purchase of it's egg, it WILL run away. Obviously you couldn't care less about it. >_> So I'd rather it goes to someone who at least looks at it once in a while.
Q: Can the Levain talk?
A: No, they can not talk out loud, but they do have the ability of telepathy. Meaning that they can speak to you with their minds.
Q: What does Balan Levain mean?
A: The name is Elvish and it means Devine Animals.
Q: Is RP-ing required?
A: Yes, mild RP is required for all new Balan after November 29th,04, you may do so in this thread. Mild RPing is defined as 2-3 times per week
Q: How many am I allowed to have?
A: As many as you want to. Though you may only buy one Levain per sale, the auctions have no limits. Just keep in mind the Balan you own you must be able to RP
Q: Can I re-sell my Levain?
A: NO, absolutely not! The Levain are very attached to their owners, parting with them would break their hearts.
Q: Are we allowed to direct-link?
Yes, since we are using a Photobucket account. However, when your Levain has reached the adult stage, PLEASE upload it own your OWN HOST.
Q: Will you ever take my Levain away?
A: If you do not pay or if you do not RP your Balan in three weeks and are not exempt from RPing
Q: Do I have to RP the Egg and how?
A: Yes you most certainly do! and how? RP yourself taking care of the egg

For The Angelic/Shadow Balan Levain

Egg -> Baby -> Child -> Adult

Balan Eggs Are the first stage of a Balan Levain. They cannot communicate at this stage. But they do require plenty of care and attention, make sure not to drop them or their egg may crack too early. A Balan egg's wings may move a little in the presence of it's caregiver or another Balan, but other then that it does not move on it's own purposefully. A Balan egg is the size of a large ostritch egg

Before a child may grow they need to show a sense of maturity. A child Balan comes to about the height of just above the adult human knee.
Shadow Balan: Begins eating solid meats as well

The adults are the final stage a Balan reaches, at this stage a Balan can form a bond with another Balan and become it's mate. At this stage they learn more about themselves and can do things like fight and breed. An adult Balan from floor to top of head is about the height of the waist of an adult human
Shadow Balan: Shadow Tendrils come out when angry or threatened to start, control goes on from there...

FAMILIARS (aka guardians)

There comes a time in a Balan's life where a familiar is a good thing to have. A familair may join a Balan when they reach the third stage of life, the Child stage. The familiar is a loyal friend and companion creature. These creatures are not Balan but rather they come from a race called the Balite. They are smart and bright and they join their Balan with full knowledge of communication and other things essential to life. They know when not to be around if your Balan is with another in a relationship as well.

Differences between Balan & Shadow Balan:
*Balan have angelic wings ~ Shadow Balan have Dragon's wings
*Balan eat a large variety of foods ~ Shadow Balan eat meats and drink blood
*Balan are many colors usually including at least one bright color ~ Shadow Balan are very dark in colors

All Growth Rates Depend on Amount of RPing Done, an un-RPed Balan will NOT grow (some exceptions apply)

For The Feline Balan Levain

The baby stage of the Balan is the second stage of the Balan's life, in this stage they begin to learn how to communicate via telepathy (telepathy comes natural to them it's the words that doesn't), they are not born with a vocabulary and need to be taught. Be sure to teach your baby as they are not likely to grow if they are unable to communicate with others. A baby Balan's footing may also be wobbly as they get used to walking as well. An infant Balan is about the height of just below an adult human knee. They wear on their heads the feather their father gave them at birth and cherish it with their lives... they find them to be somewhat of special meaning. Beware the feline is a tempermental creature, If they don't like something said or done, they may scratch or claw as their claws are sharper then the canine's.

the shop of the Balan Levain, located a half hours flight (That would be an hours drive peeps) from Barton. There is however a flaw to the shop's placement. There is no road leading to the shop, and the only road stops a good mile away. There is a well worn trail however, and all it takes is a good mile long walk to reach the shop.

Unlike before December 2004, Roleplaying is required in this shop. All Balan Owners pre-November 30th 2004 are invited to join the RPing but it is not required except in order to breed.

Roleplaying is required minimally, meaning at least 2 days a week. Your Balan will not evolve to the next stage without roleplaying and Balan which do not hatch within 1 month will run away to find a caring family.

Roleplaying can be here in the thread, please keep it to a PG13 level. In the future we will offer Journals and decent sized entries in the journal will be counted towards roleplaying.

If you post a Gaian hiatus but are seen posting numerous times in Gaia your hiatus status will not be honored!

IT IS PREFERED that RP is in 1st or 3rd person style eg.
Tika smiled and relaxed her paws in the air as she 'roasted' by the fire keeping cozy and happy

if you find your name in this list you have not met your RP minimums for that week get 3 User Image

and your Balan has a good chance of having run away, you will get a reminder warning after 2 of these. If you RP the high minimum times the following week (3 days) this will reset by one User Image

if you have 2 User Image

you will have to RP 6 days to reset both, you will not be able to reset them if your Balan has run away. IF we look up your name for a warning PM and you have not been online Gaia in 1 month we will not send the warning out at all.

Rules of Breeding:
1. Roleplaying is required, in saying such you must have kindled a relationship for your Balan in RP with another Balan. This applies to ALL Balan, new and old.

2. Breeding can only be between two Levain of DIFFERENT owners. The gender does NOT matter.

3. The new Levain may NOT be co-owned.

4. You are NOT allowed to sell the eggs yourself. If you do not like an egg, we will auction it for you and you will get 70% of the profits.

5. Both owners must confirm that they wish to breed their Balan and both owners must confirm any eggs given up

When used alone this potion can cause the Baby to grow within 12-24 hours. Please be aware that the potion effect their bodies but may not effect their minds.

These are for those who are interested in a Balan Levain that is completely unique to your desires. Please be aware they are not cheap, this is to avoid a flood of orders.

Price is dependant on how complex your order is, the simpler the order the lower in the price bracket it will cost, the more complex the more expensive. If you wish for a lower price then this please feel free to wait for a flatsale, auction or raffle.

To order PM THIS nick or post here in the thread in a QUOTE. However do NOT request one if the Slots are full. If you get a slot, you will be quoted a price, please allos 3-5 days for completion of your Balan. After which your trade must be completed within 48 hours of the PM of notification, if you do not we will resell your custom, most likely as an auction.

You can divide everything into multiple colorsm you dont have to give just one color for any part. Please specify if they are blocked colors or a gradient though.

Be specific on markings! Include the color you want them to be, (darker or lighter is fine) Try to describe the shape or better yet, send a sample of said marking.

It would be best if you used the HEX HTML color code (eg #000000 = black)
