Returning Home
Sun Oct 03, 2004
I am the worlds biggest loser.
Last night, I moved back in with my big brother. My nice apartment in Durem? I got evicted. My job working part time at the salon? Lost it. So I had to come crawling back to my big brother.
We hadn't talked much since I stormed out a few months ago. He was always interfering in my life, and I got tired of it. So I got a job, got a house, and tried to live my life by myself. It wouldn't have surprised me if Bob had shut the door in my face.
But he didn't. He took one look at me (I bet I looked awful, all the bawling I'd done that day), shook his head and invited me in. I started crying again as I told him how I'd screwed up my life. And what did he do?
"Well, your room's still open. Stay as long as you need to, brat." He tousled my hair and went into the kitchen. I followed him, hardly able to believe that he wasn't even gloating.
"You do know," he added, "that I expect you to do some of the housework. Especially until you get a job of your own." I wrinkled my nose; the kitchen smelled very odd. Turning my head, I saw dishes piled up.
"That's why you're not gloating! You want a maid!" He grinned at me as he disappeared down the basement stairs.
"Of course!" He said cheerfully. I groaned, because Bob and I were too much alike in our housekeeping skills.
I coaxed Bob out of the basement and we went and got my few possessions. When we returned to the house, I tossed a box on the ground and collapsed on the couch. Bob wrinkled his nose at the box and started to dig in it.
"And what is this, little miss?" He asked, holding up the bow I got a few days ago.
"A weird disappearing lady gave it to me." He scowled at the bow and tossed it to me.
"You attract things like this, don't you?" He grumbled, stalking back down into the basement.

What hunts me
Wed, Oct 27
Lesson learned: When Bob says: "Don't go outside, you'll be eaten" Beleive him.
Bob hasn't been sleeping nights, you know. One night he did, curled up on the couch. He's warned me for the past week or so not to go outside. While he slept, I played soliare and watched cartoons.
It was half after eight when I heard something outside. It was someone sobbing and begging for help. I took one look at Bob, sleeping soundly for the first time in a week, and I grabbed my trusty broom and headed outside.
Yes, outside.
I walked off my porch and stood in the light from the porch light, looking around. The first thing that told me that I was in trouble was when the porch light shattered. I twirled around and saw a flash of red and heard hard breathing. Then it was right beside me. Grabbing me.
The stench hit me then. Something like rotting meat. It pushed me to the ground and I twisted away from it, and turned to see what had me. Big red eyes was what I first noticed. The skull like face and long arms were what I saw next. The eyes stared at me and I tried to crawl away.
It had me in a second, long fingers grinding into my windpipe, starved eyes staring into mine. It shook me back and forth, snarling something like 'Give'. Then it threw me onto the driveway, and there was a mild explosion of light.
I woke up the next morning in my bed. I sat up and rubbed my neck and was startled by a rather peeved voice saying: "I told you not to go out."
Bob sat up off of the floor and glared at me. He walked away from me, then paused at my door. "Now you know what hunts you."

Meet Pepito
Sat Oct 30, 2004
There's a new person staying at our house. Pepito, my good buddy from a while back. He's more than a little odd.
Anyway, it started out at about ten this morning. I was on the porch, trying to get Dupin out from under the porch. There was a clopping of high heeled shoes on the porch, then a husky voice called out "Lish?"
I scrambled out from under the porch. People hadn't called me that for quite some time. The person stood with her back to me, long blue black hair floating in the air.
"Yes?" I asked. She spun around, smiling. The face I knew...
"Pep?" I asked. She grinned and winked.
"How's it going, girl?" Pep asked.
"What's... with the skirt?"
"I wanted to be a woman." He shrugged. Cripes. Bob was going to love this.
Bob came out a moment later, glaring at Pep. "Freak." He snorted. Pepito leaned over and kissed my brother on the cheek.
"You're just jelous." He chirped. "Because I look better than you."
The day just got worse from there. By five o'clock, Bob and Pep were both sitting on the couch in the living room, bruised and glaring at each other. Pep's sleeping on the couch, Bob in the basement, and me in my room.
Things are never dull, at least.

Shopping at midnight
Nov 02, 2004
It was perhaps two in the morning when Jeane realized that, with all of her planning, she had forgotten many things. As she held a sobbing, wet baby on her hip, she realized that she was not at all ready for Conan to be at her house.
She had bought toys, pets, and candy: Everything a baby could need! Of course, she hadn't bothered to buy diapers or baby food.
Bob walked into the living room, half asleep. "Car's warming up." He muttered. Conan sobbed, clinging to Jeane?s shirt.
"What do I do?" She asked Bob, tearing up. "How can I make him stop? He?s breaking my heart!" Bob collapsed on the couch and looked at her blearily.
"Unless you know how to put on a cloth diaper, we can't do anything." He grumbled.
Flawlessly dressed and groomed, it was Pepito who saved the day. He grabbed Conan and plopped him on the couch, then replaced the wet diaper with a fresh one made from a dishtowel. He then wrapped the subdued baby in another towel before tossing the wet onesy aside.
"Here you go!" Pepito happily said, hading Conan back to Jeane. She started to cry again, cuddling the happier baby.
"Thank you, Pep." She whimpered. Pepito grinned and adjusted his skirt.
It took half an hour to get to Meijers in Bob's purple Beretta. Jeane carried Conan on her lap during the ride, mentally adding 'Car seat' to the long list of items to buy. Once they were inside, Pepito started to assign jobs.
"Bob, you get the food, Jeane'll go for the bathroom stuff. Since I have the best fashion sense, I'll get clothes." Jeane and Bob looked at each other, dressed in blue sweatpants and a Dragon Ball Z shirt, Flannel pants and a vest respectively, and they were forced to agree with him.
Bob finished shopping first and waited near the cash register. While he waited, he fell asleep with his head in a bouquet of mixed flowers. Jeane woke him up when she arrived, cart full of diapers and other hygienic things. They started to check out, forgetting about the third member of their party.
"Oh, what a cute baby! He looks just like his father!" The checkout lady cooed. Conan gave a baby glare.
". . I'm not his dad. Uncle." Bob grumbled. The woman looked at Jeane.
"So, you're a single mother then?" She looked very disapproving. Jeane was about to answer when Pepito ran up, arms full of clothes.
"Oh my gosh, Jeane, look at this itty bitty cute shirt! Isn't it the greatest?" He tossed the clothes on the checkout table and picked up Conan. "Oh, my little man will be so handsome!" The checkout lady looked a bit frightened as she rang up the final purchases. Bob loaded the groceries up as Pepito carried Conan out, still cuddling him.
"Doesn't my ickle baby look just like his daddy?" Jeane cooed at the woman. "Shame he likes to wear my clothes." She grinned, grabbed the last few bags, and then started off.

Receiving Rene
Sat Nov 06, 2004
The oddest thing happened tonight. As Bob and I were sitting, reading our papers (Okay, He was reading the paper. I was cleaning Conan slobber off of my shirt.) when there was a thunk on the porch. Bob folded his paper, glared at me, and picked up the broom. He opened the door and poked whatever was out there.
"Sweet tapdancing Jesus!" He cried, running back into the house. I stood up and picked up the broom, looking for whatever scared him.
"Please don't poke me." A very soft voice piped up. Out on my porch sat a little girl, dressed in a white robe and... chains? And wings, with an odd halo?
Bob sat behind me, rubbing his nose and sneezing. He glared at the little girl before retreating into the basement.
"Would you like to come in?" I asked. The girl followed me in, looking around. "Umm..."
"I would like to stay here, if it is allowed." She said seriously.
"Of course. Uh, you'll have to sleep on the loveseat tonight, 'till I can get you a bed made up." She nodded. "And, uh, what do we call you?" She blinked.
". . . Rene." She said. I extended my hand.
"Jeane. The guy who poked you is my big brother, Bob. My crossdressing friend Pepito is around here somewhere, too. Conan's upstairs sleeping, and Raekon the hound is probably drooling on Bob right about now." I said while getting some blankets. I took another look at her and felt sad. "You could sleep with me tonight. Just keep your metaly things on your side of the bed." She nodded again and followed me upstairs.

Jeane returns!
Sat Nov 27, 2004
Rene awoke in the middle of the night, teeth chattering. She snuggled down into Jeane's waterbed to gain warmth, but was soon up again. Conan was sniffling and whimpering inside of his crip. The fallen angel crawled out of bed and brought the baby to the warmer bed.
The door to the bedroom opened moments later and a half frozen Luc was dragged in by Gwy. "Reeeenie, why is it so cold?" Gwy asked, puffing her breath. "I'm breathing steam!"
"S-s-s-s-snow!" Luc wailed. Rene scooched over to the window and peered out. It was indeed snowing outside. Rene sighed and climbed out of bed. She was quickly replaced by the two Arupan. Slipping her feet into a large pair of house slippers and tugging on a bathrobe, Rene opened the bedroom door.
"The furnace hasn't kicked on. I'll go and tell Bob." She said before closing the door. As she padded her way through the kitchen, she became aware of things staring in the windows. Things with large red eyes, things scratching the windows. She clutched the robe tighter to herself and nearly flew down the basement stairs.
"Bob!" She cried, running to his side of the basement. The figure buried under blankets didn't move. "Bob?" She shook him, gaining no response. Removing the blankets, she found him curled into the fetal position, a cobbwebby like material gathering on his closed eyes.
The scratching sound outside grew louder, and was joined by screams. The basement door creaked open and slammed shut as the two Arupan, Luc carying Conan, bounded down the stairs. "Scary Scary Scary!" Gwy wailed.
"Scry!" Conan agreed, clinging to the Snake, who pried him off of her hand handed him to Rene.
"Up." She commanded Bob. The man didn't answer. She bit him on the calf, to no response. ". . ." She blinked a few times before turning to the rest of the group. "We're all going to die, you know." She said seriously. "It appears that our beloved Uncle was keeping them away."
The room fell silent. Even the cries from outside stopped. "You... You can talk!" Gwy cried. Luc nodded.
"Never saw the point before. It's boring here." She said, then crawled on Bob's bed. One by one, each child followed her and snuggled up to their uncle. There was a loud crash upstairs, and heavy footsteps crossed the floor. The basement door was thrown open, and the footsteps crashed down the basement steps. All ducked under the blanket as the footsteps approached. But Conan, either being very brave or very curious, threw the blanket off of his head.
"Mommy!"

Bob Returns
Dec 12, 2004
Rene wondered how she got into these sort of messes. Really, she wasn't a bad person. She respected her elders, she behaved. But there she was, sitting on the loveseat in the living room and trying to hold Bob's arm on untill Jeane brought more bandages.
It had started out early in the morning. Rene was asleep on the couch, as Luc had ursurped her place on Jeane's water bed. Of course, the Snake was cold blooded, so the warmth was needed. And after Jeane brought down several blankets it was quite snug. She had fallen asleep and was resting peacefully when there was a soft knocking on the door. The knocking was followed by scratching, and a very hoarse voice calling for 'Lish to open the door.
Like a horse let out of the paddock Jeane flew out from upstairs. She unlocked the locks and threw open the front door, and Bob fell to the floor. Jeane gasped before trying to tug him up. Bob moaned.
"M'arm." He groaned. Jeane gasped.
"What did you do to yourself?"
"Dn't do it to m'self." He muttered. "R'member th't h'lf? The one tha' you liked, and you-"
"I remember him, Bob." Jeane said, pushing back his hair.
"Well, he ripped my arm near off."
There was a rustling as Jeane dragged her elder brother up and onto the loveseat, then she started out of the room. Rene sat up and stared at him. The man was in sore shape; his left arm was hanging on by perhaps an inch of skin and meat, there were gouges over his chest. Bob looked at her and smiled.
"Hey." He called hoarsley. "Can you prop me off the couch?" Rene crawled to his side and held his back from the couch. There were two vertical rips along his back. "Thanks, kiddo." He closed his eyes and grimaced. "I'm all banged up. My arm..." Rene held Bob's arm to his body.
"You'll be fine." She said. Bob laughed.
" 'Course I will be. Jus' need to rest." His head fell back. Jeane entered the room a few moments later. She saw Rene and stopped, eyes widening. She took a deep breath before she returned to Bob's side.
"Sweetie, I need your help here." She said. Rene nodded.
"Just tell me what to do."
Between the two of them they bandaged the wounds and managed to tie the shoulder in place. Jeane shot a look at Rene. "I can't do this, okay?" She closed her eyes and placed both hands on Bob's shoulder. Her hands glowed for a moment, and Bob sighed in releif.
"Thanks, love." He murmured, gently caressing Jeane's face. "You're not like her. Not at all." Jeane held his hand.
"Good."

Greeting the Heartfields
Jeane was finishing decorating the tree while Bob watched, looking very uncomfortable. Conan rested on his knee and would occasionaly pat him kindly.
"Bob ow." He told Jeane, nodding. She nodded and frowned, Bob was not recovering as quickly as she would have wished. He was unable to move his left arm at all.
The door was thrown open with a large: "Ho Ho Ho!" Conan sat up in alarm and Rene peered at the door with large eyes. The largest human that either child had ever seen stood in the doorway. He was nearly seven foot tall with snow white hair and skin. His eyes were large and blue and filled with joy.
"Little one!" He called, sweeping Jeane up into his arms. She struggled for a moment untill she could wrap her arms around his neck.
"Josha!" She called, burrying her face in his shoulder. Joshua laughed and sat her down. An older man followed Joshua in. He was around five foot seven, with dark skin and shoulder length grey hair. But his eyes were the exact same shade of blue as the larger mans.
"Greetings, dear." He said, and Jeane hugged him gently.
"You look well, Lord Gareth." She said. Gareth smiled softly. Then Jeane was knocked to the ground and covered by another person clad in fur.
"Sista!" The girl cried. Jeane and Glow did indeed look somewhat similar, both had green eyes and curly brown hair that was shortly cropped. But the girl was well muscled and strong looking.
"And Miss Glow." Jeane hugged Glow and sighed. Bob jiggled Conan on his knee as he watched the group. Rene, with a scowl on her face, walked up to Gareth. The older man blinked and laughed at her.
"Just doing your job, I suppose." He said, picking her up. "And who is this, my dear?"
"Rene." Jeane said, standing up. She dusted herself off. "And Bob's got my baby, Conan."
"Well, then. I greet you, dear seraphim. I am Gareth Heartfield. This is my son, Joshua, and my grandaughter, Gloriana." Rene gave him an odd look. He smiled toothily, then leaned close to her ear and whispered something, and she relaxed.
Then Gareth's eyes landed on Bob. "Hell." Bob muttered, trying to hide behind Conan.
In twenty minutes, Glow was laden down with Rene and Conan. She had been given strict orders to hide in the barn with Tempest and Pyro. Jeane and Joshua were going to go visit some friends.
Gareth was going to heal Bob. That is, as soon as they pried him off of the ceiling fan.

Three Draydeneers, Two funny elves, and a Kitty that's really dumb
The house was finally settled down after the entrance of the three Heartfields. Tempest and Pyro were, not all that happily, settled in the barns. Glow spent much of her time with them, keeping a bonfie lit. Pyro spent her days sleeping in the fire while Tempest was covered in blankets and laying on straw, a pair of earmuffs and a hat on his large head.
Joshua passed his days either reading of sleeping, but he did help Jeane take care of Conan and Rene. Not much was seen of Gareth, who chose to stay in the basement. Jeane happily ignored any odd sounds coming from the basement.
Bob, pushed out of his room, moved to Jeane's bed. He was much improved in health standards, but enjoyed sleeping. Gareth said that this was a normal thing, and it would pass as Bob returned to his full health.
Three of Glow's pupils had arrived as well. Chrys Tamur, Mil St. Clair, and Futch van Pelt. All three helped around the house. Another friend of Joshua, Kyrthria Hicory, also joined them for christmas. She usually repaired any of Futch's 'Boo-Boo's'.
The final pair to come to Jeane's home were a bit odd. The man, Sian, was a very soft spoken Sea Elf. He seemed to be very reserved, in contrast to his partner. Lynxa was full of energy and enjoyed jumping and playing and trying to be Spider-Man. She had the metal processes of a four year old, but she was indeed fun to be around.
Glow refused to come in the house after Lynxa arrived.

Draco Lands!
"Only you," My brother Bob said with a glare, "Would want to go stargazing at this time of year." He snuggled deeper into his fur lined parka.
"I wanna find Draco. Plus, it's a clear night, and we have some decent stargazers staying for Christmas." I replied stubbornly. Joshua, one of the decent stargazing guests I mentioned, laughed and patted Bob's head.
"And rider worth their salt can pick out Draco." He said, puffing out his chest. Glow glared at him.
"Of course, it's in a completly different position up here!" She grumbled. Her grandfather calmly pointed at the sky.
"There. The four stars in a smushed box shape. Then the tail follows up with a northern curve." Both Glow and Joshua crained their heads up to stare at the sky.
"Thanks, Gar. I allways have a hard time picking out the tail end." I said, peering up myself. Gareth smiled a bit smugly.
"There. You found the stupid constelation. Can we go inside now?" Bob growled.
"You can. I'm going to get some stargazing lessons from Gareth." Glow and Joshua both stood up and stretched. While they were busy, I was watching the sky with a frown. "Hey. Is that normal?"
All eyes returned to the sky as a twinkling light fell from the sky. "Falling star." Glow said with a shrug. She returned inside with Bob, while the two men stayed outside.
Joshua was first to notice the problem. "The old pole star's missing." He pointed towards the dragon's tail with, was indeed, missing a star.
"Odd." Gareth said cheerfully. "I want some cocoa." And so he returned inside, leaving me with his son.
"Maybe that galaxy blew up, and the light's just reaching us?" I asked. Joshua, looking a bit shaken, shook his head.
"We'd see a flash of light. Not just a falling sta-" His eyes widened as the falling star got brighter and brighter. He instictivly ducked to the ground and I followed him. Not that the star came anywhere near us, but, hey. When a guy that's seven foot tall falls to the ground and covers his head, you tend to follow him.
We both stood up rather quickly and stared to the neihbor's feilds. The star crashed down somewhere past their cow pastures, as the angry cow sounds led me to beleive. The house lights flipped on.
"You know," Joshua started up coversationally, "metorites usually have valuable metals inside of them. And it would be a shame for the Robinsons to get them." I grinned and agreed. After climbing up my eight foot fence we ran through their horse feilds, and into the cow pasture. Joshua cursed angrily, and I had a feeling he soiled his dainty boots.
"Woah." Was the first word out of my mouth when we came upon the landing site. Hey, I don't see big smoking craters every day.
"Now, where's the metorite?" Joshua grumbled, scraping his shoes on the grass. All that came from me was a small whimper as I slid into the hole. A whimper answered me from the hole as it's tiny occupant tried to hide from me.
"It's okay, little man." I cooed, reaching out my hand. It blinked at me and growled, then lunged at the hand. "Now now, that's not nice!" I scooped up the little creature, and curses were heard in the distance.
"We'd best go. They're usually drunk." Joshua said. We both started running as fast as our legs could take us, once again momentarily delayed in the cow pasture. We finally ended up right where the envening started, by the picnic table. I placed the little creature down on the snowy table and he glared at me, shaking.
"It's a little dragon boy!" I cooed again, snuggling him. I can only immagine the look on his little face. There was a hissing little giggle and my back suddenly got a lot warmer...
"You're on fire." Joshua said cheerfully, grabbing my little dragon as I started to roll in the snow. The flames quelled, I took posseson of him again.
"That's not nice, little guy." I scolded. He blinked his large eyes at me and whimpered. "Awww, you're too cute!" He giggled again, then rubbed his belly. "Well then, let's rustle you up some grub."
As we made our way into the house, he chewed happily on my arm.
