General Notes and Description

Gabriel is the Angel of Life and Compassion. She is of the choir seraphim, which means she has three sets of wings, which may sometimes be concealed in little feather bundles called wingspurs. Her soul color is deep kelly green. Her cherubic animal is the doe and her associated flower is the red rose. Her stasis age is sixteen, meaning she never appears older than this age, no matter how old she may be in reality. She is one of the four archangels. She governs the sefira Yesod, and is archangel of the west. Her cardinal element is water.

In personality she is vibrant and in love with the world. She is passionate, fierce, and enjoys her life to the fullest degree. She is one of those goons you will see out dancing in the rain – similarly she is also the kind of person who would chain herself to a tree in a hurricane. She is ultimately very forgiving and accepting. She is bright-eyed, cheerful and beguilingly charming. She may seem like she's got nothing between her ears but cotton fluff, but her genial facade conceals a very intelligent mind which is particularly adapted to understanding and controlling social situations. She is a gracious queen, like Diana or Jackie O. She is a beautiful figure head and her intrinsic understanding of all life means she can make you a six legged dog with vulture wings, if you really want one.

She is 5'0. This means she is extremely short compared to Duriel, who is 6'0. She has wavy brown hair that undulated to a length somewhere between her calves and her ankles. Her eyes are blue-grey-green and reflect the light differently in different lights. She is very slightly built. In realistic proportions she would B+ breasts – meaning larger than a B cup, smaller than a C cup XD. Her skin is very fair and she is almost always going barefoot. She likes frilly dresses, feminine attire, and the color green. In the late 1990's she plays high school lacrosse for a posh English boarding school.

Her face is heart shaped, her nose slim and slightly upturned, her mouth is naturally just a bit pouty, with a medium full lower lip, and her eyes are large and clear with dark lashes. If you are doing semi-realist work, then you're looking for something like this.

In total, she has six children. Five boys and one girl. These are spread out over the course of her considerable lifetime, although a chunk of four of them occur in a five years span. She is rosy and lovely, but she conceals the fiercely beating heart of a wild queen in that little chest of hers, so don't under estimate her just because she makes hearts with you. Just because she is ultimately forgiving doesn't mean she can't hand your a** to you in a basket if it's necessary.

Ascension Presence

In truest sense, Gabriel is the Green, not an exterior protector or guardian, but a manifested avatar. Her essence is life, the full, opening blossom of all of born, living, dying, growing, pitching creation. She is an idea of the world, existing not as a ball of rock and stone and water, carbon and nitrogen and oxygen, but as a teeming organic mass, the symbiote community of all things: a web, a tree, the world tree. She is Rosamond, rose of the world, and as the Green she is also the rose tree, the world tree, the tree of life. Ascended, she is pure joy, an explosion of lifelove, a happiness and a pulse of vitality. Roses grow where she walks, they grow and blow and seed and wilt to mulch. Insects are born under her feet, butterflies that hatch and eat and spin and emerge and mate and die, meaning that wherever she walks she leaves a litter of rose mulch and butterfly carcasses, whether it be on the earth, on stone, concrete, steel, ice, or glass. She inspires not only a swelling desire to rush out and do what there is to be done, to live and love and be merry, but also washes those present with the warning that they should gather their roses while they may, as Life cannot but present mortality in her bearing as well.

Gabriel is the maiden, forever young and giddy and heady on the fragrance of spring, while at the same time as the Green she cannot be anything but maiden-mother, child-bride, forever youthful, but also forever the essence, representative, beginning, issue point, of all that lives. She is the intoxication of pheremones, the thrill of the hunt and fight, the pain of birth, the fear of death, the suckling of young. She is dirt and blood and sweat and hunger and orgasm. She is fullness and leaness and she is enjoyment, purely and simply. All of these physical reactions she churns up constantly in those who are washed by her full presence.

Other than her spontaneous roses and butterflies, the changes her presence causes are entirely physical and always wrought on all organic things in her radius. Other than the shifting soup of instincts and primal joys, her most tangible area effect comes from an idea of coming to ripeness and fullness. As her emotions swell and overflow, they tend to effect the environment, causing fruits and vegetables to ripen unseasonably, and animals -- including humans -- to come to sexual maturity. These pulses of growth vary entirely according to Gabriel's emotional state, but never is anything forced past its prime. At their highest point they stay, washed over gently by further pulses from Gabriel's greenwave. Of course, while Gabriel can inadvertently affect the patterns and growth of very complex organisms like humans, she can do very little unintentionally except nudge gently against an event that was on the cusp of happening anyway. She cannot send a toddler into puberty. She may, however, send a pubescent girl into her first menstration. Thanks Gabriel, I'm sure she appreciates it.

Gabriel is green. Gabriel is the rose tree. Gabriel is life. She is an exploding celebration of joy, radiant, painful, and lovely. Her majesty is the crippling, ecstatic, unknowable complexity and simplicity of life.

Gabriel is the seraph of Life, and as this thing she is great and beautiful and terrible, wild and raw and physical. But she is not only the seraph of Life. She is also the seraph of Compassion: a swelling wave of peace and happiness and comfort. She is not a brilliance. She is acceptance. She is forgiveness for all sins: real or imagined. She leeches pain and fear and anguish out of all those around her, and what fills them is peace. What fills them is comfort. What fills them is love, and they know that no matter what they've done or what's been done to them that as long as she's there, standing, then everything will be all right. She is a guardian and a mother and a protector. She is gently warm and encompassing. She passes no judgments, and her presence falls equally on both the sacred and the damned. She is not hope, but she offers it because her hand is the hand that forgives.

She inspires tears – weeping, tired relief. Thankfulness. There is someone to go to. There is someone who cares, who understands, and who forgives, infinitely. She is a refuge. She is a last home. Her majesty is a simple one: Grace, although it is felling in its own way.

Compounded: Life over Compassion, Compassion as Life, and Life as Compassion, Gabriel resonates on two distinct levels, harmonic, but not uniform. Depending on the situation and her emotional state, one of them may rule the other, but they are always both present, forever rippling off of her, and her presence as Compassion effects her presence as Life and vice versa, without them actively interfering with one another. As a broader sphere, Life tends to rule, but as a subtler sphere, Compassion has far reaching effects in the way that it gently mutes certain aspects of the ferocity of Life.

One suspects that the presences of the singular Angel of Life and the singular Angel of Compassion would be noticeably different even from the separately taken presences of the compound seraph of Life and Compassion, but pulled apart into two pieces, neither piece could ever possibly be Gabriel.

Duriel: Full Profile

General Notes and Description

Duriel is Angel of Clemency, the mercy of death, meaning he is the angel who dispenses the mercy of death. He senses when you are near death and mercifully kills you so that you don't suffer. He is a fallen angel and the Lord of Pain for several thousand years before his soul is restored to him and he becomes the Angel of Clemency again. He is of the choir cherubim, which means he has two sets of wings which may sometimes be concealed as wingspurs. His soul color is cardinal. His cherubic animal is the mongoose, a killer of snakes. His associated flower is white bryony. His stasis age is thirty three, meaning he never appears older than this age, no matter how long he lives. At thirty-three he has premature silver hair streaking discreetly at his temples. He is, however, stuck in the simulacra body of Pope Gregory IX for several hundred years. That's another story though, and since I'm not asking you for art of that, you don't have to worry about it.

In personality, he is very serious. He prefers to remain in the background of any given situation, and is most comfortable out of public view. Duriel is a deeply responsible person, usually unwilling to allow others to engage in pursuits that he believes himself capable of doing; he elects to carry a burden for others, and refuses to talk about it. He is most often silent, patient, and unendurably obstinate. He is a keen thinker, but a terrible conversationalist, hence his customary quiet. Duriel has the ability to see when those around him are beyond hope of recovery, and it is his job to ease their passing into death; this morbid awareness of mortality colors his perception of the people around him, gradually causing him to withdraw. Fortunately, there is at least one person interested in keeping him in touch with life.

He is 6'0. He is very noticeably taller than Gabriel who is 5'0. His posture is very closed. His hair is a black I usually represent as highlighted with dark violet. His eyes are a cool red. His facial structure is narrow and what some would call severe. His nose is hawkish, his cheekbones are high and his skin is a medium apricot in tone. He is built like an assassin – lots of speed, his muscles are in his arms and his calves, not his shoulders. He is tall and lean, built like an athlete from a fast game. He is not bulky. He carries his height well – precisely. He has a deep appreciation for economy of movement.

He is a government employed assassin turned inquisitor and torturer turned Pope impersonator turned despairing alcoholic inquisitor turned faith-in-humanity-restored family man. He can be brutal and he can be deadly and perhaps these things are the most chilling because they're offered so casually and without interest. Mess with his loved ones and he will turn you into dogfood.

His standard costume is the red tailcoat over a plain white undershirt. His slacks are a warm, dark gray. They're fencer's pants that button up the outside of the leg to the knee and tuck into his high black leather boots. When his coat is fastened he wears a dark salmon sash across it. His weapon is a long black jousting lance called the Lance of Zadkiel. He is rarely seen without it. As an assassin he also wears a concealing double layered cloak fastened with a string of dark plum and crimson rosary beads.

It is also important to note that Duriel is 6'0 and Gabriel is 5'0. There is a considerable height difference.
