Before Falco, Slippy, before Dinosaur Planet and the Apparoids, before any of it, there was James McCloud. He created a little band of Starfighter pilots for hire consisting of a young rabbit named Peppy Hare and a sneaky swine named Pigma Dengar. He was, and always will be, the original Star Fox. I dedicate this thread to his memory. Here's to the old school.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Adventures was a nightmare, but this... this shall be a ressurection! 3nodding
I actually really liked Adventures. Hell, it is the only Rare game I can say that about. It was a solid adventure in its own right and I thought it was interesting seeing what happened to our fave furry mercenary team during a time of peace.

Assault will still definitely be a return to glory though.

I don't know, the engine just wasn't very solid to me. The game was a fine rental, sure, it just wasn't up to par for Star Fox games.
I feel a MIGHTY NEED to up and explain SF:A's background. When you are fully aware of this tale of shock and horror, you, too, will be less bored! Recoil now, lest your brains melt and leak out your ears!

A looooong, LOOOOONG time ago, There was a console known as the nintendo 64. And upon this console, there was to be a Zelda game; one trancending previous Zelda games to the Nth degree; known as the Little-blue-flute-thingy of time. (I cannot spell that word, and seek not to try and fail miserably here.)

Now, this game was delayed. And lo, Rare was independantly developing a game known as Dinosaur Planet. At this time, Nintendo people and Rare people got together over some watercress sandwiches with a side of cucumber; the nice, crisp kind with the light fluffy dip, and Nintendo said there'd be a gap before OOT was launched in which heroes would have no zombies to slay, no monsters to bash. And Rare had an idea; or maybe it was the other way around.

Rare looked at their DP engine, which was similar in execution to the Zelda one, and said: "Hey! We could make a Zelda-esque game out of this, and people would buy it and be happy!"

Time passed, and Rare delayed, as Rare always does (With good reason, of course; they deliver quality products.) OOT came and went, and Nintendo offered a SF liscence, and Rare ran with it and upgraded the graphical engine...

until it was released.

On the GAMECUBE.

There are certain intristic patterns in the game. They all, behind the graphical upgrades, belong to the SIXTY FOUR ERA. This is important to remember.

Now, somewhere along the line, the Nintendo people forgot the nice lunch with the watercress sandwiches and the light and fluffy dip. They veiwed SF:A as a new launch, and were understandably miffed. This, I suspect, contributed to Rare being sold, as it were.
