Care to explain?
You idiot girl.

Mieke was fed up with being sick.

She was tired of waking up to nausea for the past few days, and what she hated the most was that she had no idea what was CAUSING this morning plague for her. So naturally, the doe began to use everything at her disposal to figure out why she was sick. Eventually, her search had led her to the internet, and those google results gave her two options. To narrow it down, Mieke had gone out to get a few things to check over one of the options many sites had given her.

So there she was, standing in the bathroom and staring at her reflection, at her baggy black PJ's, at her orange tipped white hair, at her own bright, if not sick looking, orange eyes. Mieke was waiting for something, and it seemed to be taking forever to accomplish. She had been about to walk out of the bathroom when the soft alarm of her watch started up, in turn startling the doe into staying where she was. Shutting off the alarm, she reached over and plucked two items from the other side of the counter, one in each hand. Studying one, she then looked over to the other, leaning her head to the side.

Mieke paled visibly then, looking back at the first item, and once more at the second in disbelief. Uttering an absent minded sigh, her orange eyes rolled into the back of her head, the doe falling heavilly to the bathroom floor. She remained there, having fainted.

Teivel had, by chance alone, been walking passed the bathroom when he heard a heavy 'thud' noise within. He had been about to put his shirt over his head, but this sound...it worried him. Discarding his shirt to the floor outside of the bathroom, the stag knocked on the closed door.

"Mieke, whats wrong? Mieke? ...Mieke!" Getting no response from his twin, the stag tahnee pushed the door open, pausing for a moment to make sure she was decent before walking in. He knelt beside his sister, shaking her gently. Nope...no response, she was out cold. Worry etching his pale feature, the usually stoic boy checked around her, making sure she didn't hit her head on anything as she fell. Luckily, no injuries were found. Then...what happened here...? Hm...maybe this had something to do with it.

Teivel, reaching out, lifted the two objects that Mieke had dropped in her fall, holding them in seperate hands like the doe had done only seconds before. Like she had done, he eyed one, and then the other, looking at the colour match from the object to the box it had come in. Like Mieke, his golden eyes widened in disbelief, throwing the smaller of the two objects to the other end of the bathroom and turning the box around, staring at the logo.

"What the...?! VeRean Preg...nan...cy...test..." As the stag spoke the words he saw on the logo, his voice faded, until he was simply staring at the box. Narrowing his eyes and growling suddenly, he threw the box to the other side of the bathroom, so it rested with the test strip itself. "Oh [********] no. You [********] idiot...! God damnit Mieke!"

Teivel, falling back into a seated position beside his sister, rested his back against the bathtub, his arms resting on his parted knees. His golden eyes stared down at his unconscious twin, fully intending on staying right where he was until she woke up once more. This also gave him time to figure out who was newly placed at the top of his hitlist. He paused in his grumbling though, silencing himself so he could sniff at the air around him. Yes, there was definately a change here.

It was spring time, and thus the doe had given off a particular scent thanks to the season. He'd smelt it a few times before, and while it drove him crazy everytime he was near her, his morals kept him in line. But now...now that scent was gone, replaced in part by the scent of someone else; the telltale sign that some stag had taken Mieke. That scent was faint though, and chances were this happened to her days ago.

But again, that question came up...the question of WHO. It obviously wasn't him; he wouldn't touch his twin like that with a fifty foot pole. And really, the only other stag he could think of was Momo...the stag that Mieke was in love with. Great. She'd given herself to that idiot...and it obviously had to be him, he was the only stag aside from Teivel himself that was close to Mieke. His golden eyes narrowed in disappointment towards the doe, shaking his head a bit. Wonderful...she was carrying the fawn of a mute pansy boy. Just wonderful.

Oh yeah, Teivel really hated the other stag now.

Unfortunately for Mieke, she had started to come to just as Teivel was seething with anger. Her orange eyes fluttered open, a soft sigh escaping her lips. She had just started to sit up when a voice startled her so badly she hit the ground again.

"Mieke. You're awake. Wonderful." Once he had noticed his twin start to wake up, Teivel swallowed his anger for now. Oh yes, He'd yell at her in a few minutes.

"GOD Teivel...you scared me...! And...I'm not sure if I'm okay or not...because I think...I think I'm---"

"Pregnant? I know."

"What?! How'd you---Oh." Looking frantically around the bathroom, Mieke spotted the pregnancy test, as well as the box, where it had fallen when it was thrown.

"So. Care to explain?"

Interrogation
Mieke....He's just using you.

"I can't...I can't explain it, Tei...you know I can't..." The doe looked up at her twin, her orange eyes pleading for him to give her a break...to just leave her alone and to let her sort this out by herself.

That, of course, was not about to happen.

"Mieke you [********] idiot! What the HELL were you thinking?!" Now that the doe was sitting up, Teivel leaned forward, putting his hands on her upper arms. Scowling, he leaned over her, making him seem rather intimidating, just to get his point across. Anger flashed in his golden eyes, his tone harsh and louder than normal as he scolded her. Of course, there was no pun intended in his outburst.

The doe attempted to shy away from him at first, but as he growled at her, she got defensive.

"I don't care what I was thinking...! Its what I have to do! Leave me alone!" She growled right back at him, instinctively wrapping her arms over her stomach.

"Oh and what? Getting knocked up is what you were made to do? Mieke, listen to yourself! You sound like an idiot! You two aren't even married yet, and here you are carrying his b*****d fawn!" He could tell she was getting defensive, and he continued pressing his offensiveness.

"I'm a Doe Teivel. A doe! And being married doesn't matter, I love him, and he loves me!"

Teivel rolled his eyes, slapping his forehead. "Its spring! Momo is a Stag, Mieke. He was probably just taking advantage of your affection in the name of the season!"

"No!" She pleaded, suddenly feeling like breaking down into tears. Teivel was wrong. He was just wrong! "Momo wouldn't do that! He'd never do that...if You'd seen how he acted before-"

"What, before he knocked you up? No thanks...the fake attitude of his would have made me sick."

"Teivel, you're being unfair! You're a stag as well, you know! Would you 'knock up' Nefryth and leave her?"

"No, I wouldn't, but---" Teivel started, though he got cut off.

"Then you can't say that Momo would leave me because of this...!" The doe's orange eyes, though lined with tears, were narrowed in pure anger. Teivel was over reacting, everything would be okay! This was Momo they were talking about. The love of her life; her mate. He wouldn't do that to her.

"Let me finish, damnit! I wouldn't leave her, because I'd be married to her. I have morals, Mieke. Morals! Besides, how do you know he even loves you? He's mute, it'd be easy for him to lie."

Mieke's expression dropped into pure disbelief. He was accusing her of having no morals now? What a nasty sonuva--nevermind. How dare he! She growled, her ears lowering in warning. "Oh god damnit Teivel, this is none of your ******** business! I know he loves me, he told me so himself!" Her words were growled through gritted teeth.

Teivel was, in all honesty, taken by surprise as Mieke began to throw obsenities into her replies. This was not going to stop him, however. "He told you? Mieke, the boy is MUTE. He can't talk!"

"He can now, Jada gave him his voice back!"

"That changes nothing." The stag growled warningly at Mieke, just daring her to retaliate again. He was serious this time; and he was not in a good mood whatsoever. He scoffed as the doe shied away from him, her ears lowered in anger, but also submission. As adamant as she was about being right on this, she was suddenly afraid of her twin; she'd never seen him this worked up before, and she didn't want to take the argument any further.

Besides, he'd calm down eventually...and she could talk to him calmly about it....but not right now. She was too afraid to try it now.

Standing, the stag fixed his pants (he was still shirtless, however) and turned towards the door...only to stop dead in his tracks, seeing someone standing there who shouldn't; a little blue skinned child with wide white eyes.

What does that mean?
Vidya...BAD TIMING!

In this household, it wasn't all that unusual to hear Teivel yell at his sister....not at all. It was like clockwork...Teivel would yell at her, and the doe would come running down (or up, depending on where he was) the stairs, giggling like crazy. It was routine, it was funny...and it was expected. Whoever the doe saw first always became her human shield...small child or no. Teivel usually gave up after Mieke took refuge behind...well...anyone.

But this time, there was no giddy doe flying down the stairs, no poor victim behing grabbed and hid behind. No...there was nothing. In fact, at one point, they heard Mieke yell back at him. They couldn't hear what was being said, save for the "WHAT THE HELL, MIEKE!?" and a rather angry tone in reponse. This was unusual, and the assembled group at the kitchen table all looked upstairs, all bewildered expressions donning their faces.

Vidya wasn't about to let this go without looking into it! This was ground breaking news, it was! Big enough for the press...NO...Big enough for the ENTIRE WORLD to know! Mieke and Teivel ACTUALLY fighting! She could see the headlines now: The world crumbles as twins fight. Not that she knew what headlines were...she heard it on TV once, and it worked in this case.

Eyeing Vincent, the tale slid out of her chair, abandoning her bacon and eggs as she wandered up the stairs of the Nibelhiem mansion, following the sound of voices all of the way to the bathroom. Teivel had left the door open, and it was enough for her to look inside. The twins were on the ground, Mieke sitting down and Teivel on his knees infront of her. At one point, he had his hands on her shoulders as he growled out his words. She witnessed the entire thing...and thus...Vidya heard everything. everything.

She stared up at him as he turned to leave, her white eyes wide with curiousity.

The stag had stopped suddenly, his furiously blushed face paling visibly. How long had she been standing there...!? He frantically searched for something to say, to at least get Vidya to shut up and go downstairs again...and to not ask any questions. Teivel looked over his shoulder at his twin, whose orange eyes were also wide with surprise and fear, her face just as pale as his own. Vidya was known for talking...and she talked about everything. If she knew about this...she'd tell Enoh and Nio for sure!

"Uh...Vi-Vidya...about what you heard..." The doe stuttered, her search for words as frantic as Teivel's.

Vidya however, leaned her head to the side, looking around Teivel to stare at Mieke, and then leaning back to look up at Teivel again. She stayed silent for a moment, and after a lengthy time of silence, she licked her lips, and with pure curiousity, asked what they'd been dreading.

"Whats...'Knocked up' mean, Teivy?"

He'd been the one to say it, so he gets asked the question. The stag, in response, looked like he was going to pass out. Shaking his white haired head, he merely growled and picked up Vidya, hoisting her into the air and placing her infront of Mieke.

"Ask Mieke. Its her god damn problem anyway." Teivel stormed out then...it wasn't his problem anymore. She can deal with it however the hell she wanted to, in his mind. It was her fault, after all.

Both Doe and Tale stared at the Stag as he left, and then slowly turned to face eachother. Vidya was looking more bewildered than ever, and Mieke...well, Mieke was panicking. Taking a shuddering breath, Mieke wrapped her arms around Vidya, pulling the child close to her. Her gaze softened a bit...in a few months, she'd be able to do this to her own baby...and while the thought was once a happy one, Teivel's interrogation made her want to cry at the thought.

In the end, the only thing she could come up with was a pathetic whine, her fingers brushing through her Tale sibling's long white hair. When she noticed that Vidya was about to ask again, Mieke instantly started talking, just to cut her off.

"A-actually Vidya...I really can't tell you that right now. Uhm...I'm...I mean...I might...No. No wait." Mieke sighed heavilly again, pulling Vidya onto her lap. "...A lot of things have happened recently, Dia dear...a lot of things--"

"Is Momo bad? R'you in trubble, 'eke?" Vidya cut her off. This was really more important of a question. The tale connected Momo being mean, and Mieke getting in trouble for it...and somehow, Mieke got herself 'knocked up'...whatever that meant.

"No...Momo's not bad. He's wonderful..completely wonderful...I love him a lot. Like how Mommy and Daddy love eachother...So that was just Teivel being himself." She pressed her fingertips against her temple. "I don't think I'm in trouble, but Teivel thinks so."

"Like Mommy and Daddy? That s'lot, then!" The tale brightened...so maybe being 'Knocked up' wasn't all that bad! Okay, so she was worrying for nothing!

"Yes, that is a lot!"

"So...What's 'Knocked up' mean?"

Mieke would have fallen over, but she caught herself, uttering a nervous chuckle. "Well Dia...I...Uh. I'll tell you later, how does that sound?"

"Promise? C'n I ask Mom---"

"NO!" Quick to the jump there. Mieke pressed her hand against her heart, willing it to stop pounding. "No Vidya...I'll tell you, I promise! But...don't ask Mom. In fact...don't tell Mom or anyone else what you heard...please...?"

Vidya went silent, looking rather disappointed...why she could't ask her mother was beyond her. "Nobody?"

"Nobody. Promise me, Vidya...please."

Again, the tale went silent. After a few seconds, she brightened, and pressed her fingertip to her lips, the universal sign of silence and secrecy. Seeing this, Mieke relaxed visibly...it was common knowledge what when Vidya was asked to keep something a secret, and once she pressed her finger to her lips...the Tale didn't peep another word about it.

How did Mieke know? Well, Mieke had told Vidya some things before now...and Vidya kept them secret, as she promised.

"...Good. Thank god. Once I get some things straightened out...I'll tell you then. I promise...So...How about we go get some breakfast...?" She giggled nervously, slowly getting to her feet, and picking up the evidence eluding to her pregnancy. This was something she didn't want anyone else to know about...

Teivel, she knew, would be too mad to bring it up...and Vidya. Vidya was trustworthy with secrets, and so the doe had nothing to worry about at all concerning that child.

Vidya grinned, jumping to her feet and grabbing Mieke's hand, dragging the doe out of the bathroom, and, after a detour to Mieke's room to hide the evidence, both went downstairs for breakfast.

Now if only nobody said anything...and if only Mieke could get the colour back to her skin.

After Donny had dragged his father to almost every toy store in Barton and Gambino combined, the two had trudged home, laden down with packages.

Rather, Nio was laden down with packages, and Donny. Donny was laden down with a plushie in his arms. The poor kid. c.c

The boy was exhausted, and as he was carried up the steps to his room, he murmured something unintelligible and shifted in his father's arms. Nio chuckled softly, and set down the bags just outside the doorway. He creaked the door to Vidya's room, checking inside to see if they'd gotten home yet. It was still early, and it seemed they were out for the time being.. but Donny was ready for bed here and now.

"Squish.. eee."

Donny looked up with sleepy eyes as he was settled into the bed, still clutching his new plushie in his arms.

"Donny, say daddy." Nio whispered one last time, smirking faintly.

"Squishee."

Nio shook his head softly, and tucked the covers around him.

"Leave plushie for Viddy?"

"Sure short stuff, I'll leave her the plushie you got her."

Donny smiled one last, lazy smile, before closing his eyes and drifting off. Nio watched him fondly for a few minutes, before brushing a lock of hair away from his face, and standing up to grab the plushie from the bags just outside the door. He set the little lion plushie on Vidya's side of the bed, and whispered one last good night to Donny before heading off to his and Enoh's room.
