Welcome to Juice Bots! I'm always thinking of ideas, and 85% of them don't get concepted into a shop, because I know it'll take time to manage. But, after a long thought process, I decided to open another shop, not as complex as my other one, Panda.Box. I was planning on selling the lineart/pixel stuff for this shop, but my sister convinced me to make the shop myself, so here it is!

Juice Bots are tiny robots that somehow evolve from a simple, minature floppy disc to a functioning robotic creature. They live off the sugars found in different kinds of common, everyday juices such as apple juice or strawberry shake! They also need different vitamins, because, even though they're machines, they need to eat something. Why, is still a mystery. Juice Bots, JBs for short, also have stats, and owners can battle their bots! Interested? Keep reading. ;D

April 1/05: Sorry there haven't been much updates lately. I've been a bit caught up with Panda Box. Anyways, the auction is up (you can find the link at the top of this post), and updates will be done on Sunday! :3

March 28/05: The latest flatsale bots can be picked up on page 63. I've also decided on having another auction. Thanks to Steph and my error on her bot (I put her username "[ iPod ]" in the pet name spot, and her pet name "Gizmo" in the owner spot), I've been inspired to do an iPod themed auction! :3 Check the Availability Post (post 4) for more details. biggrin

Intro. Juice Bots are, for the most part, pretty simple to take care of. They only need vitamins and live off juice that only needs to be changed once in a while. They feed of the sugars found in the liquid they live in. A full grown bot is only 6 inches tall! The disc is the size of a normal floppy, yet thicker. I, Knil, actually created these bots in my secret lab... >_> Yes, I have a secret lab. razz Anyways, if you're interested, keep on reading to study up on how to take care of these metalic creatures. :3

<img src="http://members.lycos.co.uk/knilchan/jb/ims/diagram.gif" align="left"> Know Your Pet. To the left we see a diagram of the Bot itself, the bottle it lives in, and its "tag". I will now explain the labeled parts. n.n

Bot. The creature itself! The one in this picture is actually a full grown bot living off green tea! As you can see, the bot lives in solitude. If you want another bot, you're going to get a seperate tag since each individual Bot has stats, which will be further explained later on in this post.

Owner Name. The name of the Gaia user who owns the Bot. This person has the responsibility of watching over the Bot. He/She has to make sure that the water level stays up, and that the bot has enough vitamins. The Owner also has the chance to battle his/her bot(s) with other owners.

Pet Name. It's only natural to give your Bot a name, so this is where its displayed. n.n

Stats. As you can see, there are five different stats: Atk (Attack), Def (Defense), Spd (Speed), Int (Intelligence), and HP (Hit Points). The first four stats grow by how many vitamins the Bot has eaten. For every vitamin a bot consumes, a pip under the stat will increase. When all 5 pips under the stats are filled, the stat will go up 1 level, and the cycle will start again. The HP meter, though, starts on level 1 as a default. This does not mean your bot has 1 HP! (This will show when your bot has grown to the Byte stage; as a disc, the HP stat is level 0.) Multiply the level by 5, and you get the total HP. A pip under the HP bar is filled everytime the Bot levels up in any other stat. These numbers will be used in the mathematical equations that are used in the Bot Battle.

Type. Technically, Bots aren't living things (pun intended). However, I created two different types of Bots. They have different functions on the inside, but their exterior looks the same. I call the two types alpha User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

. We can think of the Alpha types being the "males", and beta the "females".

Food. These bars are the Bots' Vitamin meters. When you buy a pack in the Merch store, there are five pills, one for each pip. When you buy a pack (which you can only do one at a time until the pips are empty), the pips will be filled. Your Bot will eat on its own, so all you need to do is buy more vitamins when the meter is empty. The Vitamins raise your Bot's stats, as well as keep the bot happy. The Vitamin image corresponds to the stat on the right side; they will be named in the Merch post.

They stay happy when fed and payed attention to (a.k.a. RPing them in the thread/your activity in the thread). What also keeps them happy is decorations on their bottle, which are stickers, as well as the vitamins they eat.

To the left you see the stages of the bot: Disc, Byte, Drive, which you can correspond to "Egg, Child, Adult". It takes them about a week to grow, give or take a few days. Your thread activity also helps them grow. When they're in the Drive stage, they can battle and 'upload' with another bot.

Here is what it looks like when a Bot's OS (Operating System) shuts down from lack of sugar, vitamins, or depression. :'( Hopefully I can save them before they die and put them for adoption before they shut down.

This is where your bot lives. It's a cozy little spot, yes. As Bots consume and filter the sugar from the liquid, the level decreases. You should consider changing your juice when it reaches the level 4 or 3 stage. If a bot does not have enough liquid to live in, then it will slowly get errors and soon die. You do not have to change your juice to the same liquid you had before. Feel free switch juice. n.n

Here is where you can buy Vitamins to increase your Bot's stats and make him/her happy. n.n There are four different vitamins, as you can see to your left, each one corresponding with a certain stat. You can only buy one oack of vitamins at a time, which fills 5 pips on your tag. All vitamins cost 150g each.

Since bots are technically not living things, they cannot really breed. However, I have included in their OS a program that will take some of their information, an alpha's and a beta's, and upload it to a computer that will process 4 new discs for the owner(s) that uploaded them!

Sometimes owners neglect their bots, and the mood falls. The Bot becomes sad and will be taken from the neglectful user and put here. Bots are also put here if the owner notifies me saying that they don't have the time anymore. Don't worry if you feel guilty dropping off your Bot here; we all have lives in reality (I HOPE xD) and need time to do other things.

Things You Need to Know -- Neglect
-- There will be no refund for bots taken away from neglectful owners.
-- The original owner has 5 days to claim their bot again before it is opened to the public to try and get.

Things You Need to Know -- Abandoning
-- There is a fee of 250 Gold to abandon your pet.
-- The abandoning owner should PM me, Knil Chan, giving me a reason why they cannot take care of their pet anymore. A plain "I don't want it," will not make you eligible.
-- Once the trade is complete, the name will be put here on the list.

Things You Need to Know -- Adopting
-- You cannot change the pet's name/type.
-- There is a 300 Gold fee to adopt.
-- You get the previous owner's tag and any vitamins that may be left, as well as current stats of the bot. The only thing changed is the name.
-- You must post a short paragraph (no less than 100 words) here in the thread, stating why you would be a good owner for the pet you want.

Alright, this might be a bit hard to explain, so bare with me. The Bot Battle is exactly what the name says: a battle between bots. Only Drive stage (adult) bots can battle.

You have read in the "Bot Care" post how vitamins are eaten and simutaneously raise the bot's stats. If you're not sure, please re-read the section, or ask questions in the thread.

Typically, the higher your bots stats, the better they will fare in battle. The next section will cover what your bots stats are according to their level.

Calculating Your Bot's Stats
On the tag, the number next to the stat is the bot's level in that stat. There is a difference between Level and Stat. To get your bots stat that corresponds to its level, multiply the stat by 5. Here's an example.

The Stat numbers are used in the various calculations of the game. Before we get into equations, though, I will explain the stats.

Stat Name Explinations
ATK -- Attack: This is how powerful your bot is. The higher the level, the more damage it can deal in battle.
DEF -- Defense: This is how tough or hardy your bot is. The higher the defense, the more hits it can take without getting damage severely.
SPD -- Speed: How fast your bot is. The faster your bot is, the more likely it can go first and dodge attacks that your oppononent blows.
INT -- Intelligence: How smart your bot is. These are computers after all. The smarter your bot is, the better your bot can dodge and/or hit a target.
HP -- Hit Points: Simply your bot's life. This goes down as they receive damage. When your bot's HP hits 0, your bot's OS (operating system) will temporarily shut down. Don't worry, after the battle, I will restart the OS, and your bot will be back to life.

Though it is good to have bots good in all areas of battle, sometimes there are times when you should bring up a bot's certain stat.

The Equations -- Intro
You don't really need to know this part, but it's nice to know how I calculate the battles. Most of this is mathematical and probability. The only thing you need to do is give your bot a command. Issuing commands will be explained later on.

The Equations -- Abbrivations You Should Know
PLY - Attacking Player
TAR - Target
ATK - Attack Stat
DEF - Defense Stat
SPD - Speed Stat
INT - Intelligence Stat
HP - Health Point/Stamina Stat

The Equations (Equations Subject to Change)

Probability of a Hit
(PLY SPD + PLY INT) / (TAR SPD)

Probability of a Counter
(PLY ATK * PLY INT) / (TAR DEF * TAR INT)

Damage Calculation
TAR HP - (PLY ATK - TAR DEF)

Who Goes First
If PLY SPD > TAR SPD, then PLY goes first.
If PLY SPD < TAR SPD, then TAR goes first.

When Using the "Tackle" Attack
+5 to the PLY SPD, then
continue with normal equations.

When Using the "Kick" Attack
+5 to the PLY ATK, then
-2 to the PLY SPD, then
continue with normal equations.

When Using the "Multi-Kick" Attack
+10 to PLY ATK, then
-5 to PLY SPD, then
-2 to PLY DEF then
continue with normal equations.

When Using the "Laser" Attack
+5 to PLY ATK, then
-2 to PLY DEF, then
-1 to TAR DEF, then
continue with normal equations.

When Using the "Multi-Laser" Attack
+10 to PLY ATK, then
-7 to PLY SPD, then
-2 to PLY DEF, then
-1 to TAR DEF, then
continue with normal equations.

When Using the "Defense" Command
+10 to PLY DEF, then

Battle Styles -- Two Types
There are two types of battling: an NPC battle or Player vs. Player battle. An NPC battle is where you can battle a 'droid' (NPC Battle Bot) and get small rewards! When you do Player vs. Player battles, each of you must 'bet' something. It can be gold, items, or you can offer to buy something for the winners' bot. These will be explained in further detail.

Battle Styles -- NPC Battle
There are three levels of NPC you can face: Novice, Intermediate, and Master. In order, Novice is the weakest and Master is the hardest. You get different rewards from each level if you are victorious in your battle.

NPC bots only have 2 attacks -- Defend and Laser, though at Intermediate and Master levels, their attacks are Multi-Laser. If you're interested, here's how you can calculate the NPC bot's stats.

For Novice Level: Multiply each of your bot's STATs (not levels) by 1.5 -- the products will be the NPC's stats. The HP is only one level higher than your bot.

For Intermediate Level: Multiply your bot's STATs (not levels) by 1.5, then +15 to each stat. The outcome will be the NPC's stats. The HP is 2 levels higher than your bot.

For Master Level: Multiply your bot's STATs (not levels) by 2, then +15 to each stat. The outcome will be the NPC's stats. The HP is 5 levels higher than your bot.

Battle Styles -- Player Vs. Player
Owners can battle their bots with each other! First, you'll need to make an agreement with another owner to battle -- DO NOT force owners against their will to battle with you. This is taken as an infraction against the respect rule of this store, and will not be taken lightly.

After you have made an agreement, you both must choose something to 'pool'. When I say pool, you're making a bet that your bot's going to win. If you win, you get whatever you bet, plus what the other person bet. Feel free to bet Gaian items, gold, or offers to buy vitamins for their bot. As long as it's nothing against the Gaia ToS and Rules, as well as my own, then it's a legal bet. I will check with your bets. Only bet what you have, and do not cheat the other person out.

Nothing is done to either player's stats, since it is the owners responsibilty to level up their bots.

Battle Styles -- Prices
Because this takes time to do, I will not be doing this for free. It takes a lot of effort to put this all together, for I have also made animations (of the gray colored bot) to represent the attacks. I also made droid NPC sprites, and a special arena! These will be shown later on.

NPC Battle Prices
Novice -- 200 Gold
Intermediate -- 250 Gold
Master -- 350 Gold

Player Vs. Player
150 Gold from each Player. This cannot be included in your bet.

A: Sure, just wait for a flatsale/auction/raffle to get one and fill out the form right. n.n

Q: Can I get more than one bot?
A: You can own more than one bot, but you cannot get more than one at a flatsale.

Q: Your prices are high. :/
A: Not really a question... But they're somewhat pricey because: 1) They're animated, and animations take a while, 2) My time is precious.

Q: I don't get the battle system.
A: Read it again, and if you have any specific questions, ask in the thread. n.n
