Update, December 31, 2005

It's been a great eight months, and we've donated 40,000g in pure and items to many questors over that time. But now, Ookami and I don't have the time to gather resources for the charity, or keep this thread active. Thus, we've given out the last of the gold, and are handing out the last of the items in a giveaway. The giveaway is linked in mine and Kitty's signatures for as long as it lasts (scheduled to run to 1/08/06).

Thank you all for making our Charity a wonderful experience! We may bring it back some day, but for the time being adult life has tied our hands, and we'll be closed.

Welcome! Ever since I joined Gaia and experienced the generosity of others, I have wanted to start a Charity to help spread that good feeling around. I love getting items myself, but I feel even better giving them away. Unfortunately, I never had much gold. But all that has changed now! Thanks to the generosity of my friend Ookami Juujin, I have a good-sized pile of gold with which to open my charity! Both she and I are donating our unused items as well.

I ask that you respect the rules (please read all of them!) and be polite here. Ookami and I run this Charity, both from our own SNs and our joint Charity SN Kitty Dawn Marie. All Charity questions are to be sent to the SN Kitty Dawn Marie. Ookami has shops and talks to a lot of people, so her inbox is always ready to overflow. And she's on more often than I am, so she'll be reviewing things from the Kitty SN. Donations to the Charity and from the Charity are all handled by trade with Kitty Dawn Marie. That way, Ookami's and my personal gold and items don't get mixed up with that earmarked for the Charity. Also, do not beg us, or Kitty, by PM. We have busy lives and will be checking this thread and quest threads for people to donate to. PMing us with a begging message isn't likely to get you anywhere.

exclaim {1} Respect the owners and helpers. Gin_Kaze and Ookami Juujin own this Charity, and both use the SN Kitty Dawn Marie to facilitate charity business. Being rude to any of them, or their friends who help bump this thread, will make it unlikely that you get any donations. So please, be respectful and polite, it'll get you farther.

exclaim {2} Don't PM any of us asking for donations, or asking when you'll get yours. All requests must be made on this thread. Otherwise, our Inboxes would overflow and PMs would be lost.

exclaim {3} Don't just say "gimme gold" or "gimme this;" our funds are limited, so we'll be careful when we chose who to donate to. And being nice makes it more likely that you'll get something. What will get you the best results? Something like "Hi, I'm [name] and I'm questing for [item]. I have [this much] gold and need [this much] to afford the item. Could you help me out? Thank you!" is a really good way to start. It shows that you put some effort into it, and shows us how far you are in reaching your goal.

exclaim {4} Have a minimum of 75 posts before petitioning this Charity for gold or items. Why? Because it's really not that hard to earn gold by posting on Gaia and reading the threads. This minimum post limit is lower than many charities, but higher than some others to avoid petitions from mule accounts.

exclaim (revised) {5} A Quest Thread is now required to receive a donation. This has been changed due to limitations of time and funds, and to make it easier for us to verify your intentions. You must also have a tally on your quest thread showing your progress and how far you have to go (xxxx/xxxxg) Don't just say "visit my quest thread," post something like in Rule 2, and then add the link so we can see how serious you are about getting the item. If you have, say, 100g out of 40,000g you need to get the item... Well, you're not very likely to get a donation. It's a good idea to have at least half the gold you need for the item, depending on how much it costs, before asking others to help you.

{6} Bumps are welcome, but be reasonable. Don't just bump every two seconds, that just fills up pages and takes up bandwidth, making it harder for us to find petitions and making Gaia slower. Bump when the thread nears the bottom of the Charity Forum listings.

{7} Do not stretch the page. Please, NO HUGE GRAPHICS. Gaia TOS states that all graphics must be less than 500x500 pixels. Not everyone has a fast computer, and for some of us Gaia tends to lag a lot. Big pictures make our computers choke. Also, no long unbroken lines of text or smilies. This stretches the page and makes all the posts on that page an absolute horror to read. And smilies are pictures, too, and like I said, some of us have horribly slow computers that even choke on the smilies sometimes. Sad, yes? Pity us and be merciful!

{8} We reserve the right to choose who we donate to. We try to be as fair as we can, and donate something to as many people as we can, but there's only so much we can do. Donation amounts may vary depending on current Charity funds, or how much the petitioner seems to deserve it. We reserve the right to decide what deserving is.

{9} These rules can change or be updated at any time, so keep an eye on them, even if you've been here before.

Note: Rules with the exclaim next to them, if not followed, will keep you from getting a donation.

When you petition us for a donation, please be polite. Tell us what you're questing for, how much gold you have, and how much more you need for that item. If you have a quest thread, link it in your post, and we'll check it out. We'll even bump it while we're there!

This charity deals mainly in gold. We have items from time to time, which may be raffled off to raise more money, or given to someone who wants that item. But don't ask for items we don't have, please!

Donations will be sent from the SN Kitty Dawn Marie. Please change the Trade Title with some form of "Thank You." Do not PM Gin, Ookami, or Kitty to ask for donations, or to ask when you are getting yours. If you're getting one, you'll know it when the trade bubble pops up.

From time to time, Felidae Dreams will sell inexpensive raffle tickets to raise money for the Charity. The general Marketplace price of the item up for raffle will be divided among 10-14 slots, to make each ticket around 100g. Winners will be chosen using www.randomizer.org once all slots have been purchased. All proceeds from ticket sales go back into the charity to be donated to petitioners.

The first Raffle has begun! It's for an Enchanted Trunk, donated by Ookami, valued at around 1.4k. Each slot costs 100g, and there are 14 slots. Once filled, we'll use www.randomizer.org to complete the drawing and the winner will be posted and receive the Enchanted Trunk. All ticket proceeds go into the charity coffer to be donated to others.

The Charity gets its thread

Gin Kaze (geen kah-zeh), also known as Dawn, is a young woman with a giving spirit, who has wanted since her first week on Gaia to begin a charity of her own. Shortly after joining Gaia last year, she bought a Vending Pass and began the "Gaian Charity Shop" in the Marketplace, with an Exchange Forum Thread, to sell items for those on Gaia who didn't have their own trading passes. She sold items for them at fair market value, only occassionally adding 10-15g to the seller's requested price that she'd keep for herself. She made no real profit through the shop, but helped nearly a dozen gaians sell their items for over 50k total.

Dawn loves to read, write, sing, and watch anime. She's been a descriptive RPer for several years and runs her own RP and Original Works Forum, Realm of Infinity. Ookami got her started in the Order of the Roses guild here on Gaia, where she now leads the Burgundy Roses as Mistress of the Bards "Gin Kaze," a silver kitsune, or spirit fox. The name "Gin Kaze" means Silver Wind in Japanese. Dawn is teaching herself the language, and has spent a lot of time translating anime song lyrics into English, even adapting them to fit the melody while staying true to the original meaning. Her pride and joy is her translation/adaptation of the Cowboy Bebop ED theme "The Real Folk Blues."

Ookami Juujin ("Wolf Beastperson" in Japanese) is the same age as Gin, though she tends to act a bit younger rather often. A free spirit, she has a rather feline nature, though she spends most of her free time at the moment playing her Wolfyn character in The Order of the Roses. She is Mistress of the Shadows there, Leader of the Black Rose Sect. Hers is a sect of highly skilled assassins, but she's really quite the soft touch IRL and in nearly all of her online dealings and characters, including Ookami.

Now and then Ookami will reference "Creator" in her posts, referring to the woman behind the SN who is responsible for dozens upon dozens of characters crowding her poor skull and vying for attention, be it in RPs, fanfictions, or original stories. Each character is an aspect of herself, and many can be classified as "furries." She herself tends to be quite feline, and has quite a few felinid characters. Following closely behind are her wolflike characters, and she has one dragonkin character. Playing mostly magical characters, she has few who are fighters of any kind, aside from Ookami (a rogue) and her Draconian Calmyhra (a mercenary), though her character Kitz (a felinid hybrid) has the potential to be a character of godly strength and skills. Creator is just too nice a lady to go around killing people, though she's absolutely nuts about swords. Not to mention bishounen with swords, especially if they have silver (or at least long) hair, facial markings, and/or pointed ears XD (SESSHOUMARU-SAMA! now if only he weren't so distant.... but challenges are nice wink ) Her favorite creatures are--guess what?--big cats, wolves, and dragons. She's also rather partial to gryphons, though that's the one creature at the top of her list she doesn't have a character for. Her winged animorph mage doesn't exactly count, as she only transforms into a hawk.

Ookami recently bought a tablet, and she's not afraid to use it! She's been doing free tablet arts for random people and on the Freebies Forum since she got it, and for friends as well. She hasn't even gotten to her own characters yet, she's been so busy doing art for everyone else! She'll be opening up a shop at some point, as well as one for pets and adoptables. She already has one for her Avatar Edits.
