01/01/2006: Happy New Year! Congratulations to FloraStar for making the first post to the shop for 2006 and scoring a free Mohnikei egg.
Also 6 new eggs have been revealed and will go up for Raffle/Flat Sale this FRIDAY 01/06/2006. Details and thread to be posted soon.
12/31/2005: New Year's Eve surprises and a teaser on page 116!
12/03/2005: Congratulations to the winners in the first Mohnikei flat sale held today. Changes to the front page continue, including new banners and a new link image for the shop. Shop-wide plots are being planned to reveal more about the new arrivals in the lagoon.
12/01/2005: The Mohnikei have arrived! Please be patient as I update the front page to accomodate our new companions.

How do I get one of these pets?
To clarify, given the sheer amount of PM's I've been getting from people:
Nereids right now are not available because of my backlog and real life issues that have severely limited the amount of time I have to work on coloring.
However, as the backlog clears up more shells should become available.
The Mohnikei are a new addition and just had their first flat sale on 12/3. More of them should be up for sale after the first of the year.
Is Roleplay Required?
No. You will not lose your Nereid if you do not RP her. I offer a place where you can come and RP if you choose to. They're meant to be pretty & fun... not work.
They can breed? But they're all girls!
Yes, your Nereids can breed! Now, it's not like most of you may think... after all, they ARE all female. Nereids create new life by finding a suitable shell to deposit special, thickened bubbles into. These bubbles can pop very easily, but when combined with the bubbles of another Nereid are more stable and produce a new life after only a few days' time. So Nereids don't have true bloodlines, their form of reproduction means that any new Nereid can 'breed' with any other Nereid, even one of the ones that created them... without risk of inbreeding and defect, as with other types of creatures.
Will my baby Nereid look like its parents?
The offspring CAN and usually do look like their 'parents', or they can have completely new appearances and traits. Example, Shiva and Dwynne's first breeding produced an albino Nereid, Kira.
How much do they cost?
Nereids being sold or auctioned are from breedings by the current owners. Prices are established by the owners themselves and said auctions and flat sales are run in the manner they see fit. So... prices will vary from sale to sale.
Mohnikei are 4,000 gold at flat sale currently.
Can the Mohnikei breed with the Nereids?
No. The two species are not interbreedable.
So how do the Mohnikei breed?
That will be revealed in time.
What does "Bondmate" on the Mohnikei tag mean?
Unlike the Nereids, which are nymphs and by nature overly amorous, the Mohnikei are monogamous and will take a single mate.

1. The shopkeeper is god. Do not argue with the gods, or you will be smitten and added to the blacklist. If you are told there are no shells or eggs available and continue to pester, you will be ignored even when they ARE available.
2. Flatsales, auctions and raffles will be CLEARLY announced both on the first page of the shop, and on the current page of the thread.
3. No rudeness! I mean business on this. If shells or eggs are available and you didn't get one for whatever reason, whining, threatening and generally making a twit of yourself will NOT get you one, nor will it endear you to those that might just be kind enough to give you a shell or egg later from a breeding.
4. Faking bids at an auction or flatsale (even as a joke) will result in a permanent ban from ever owning a pet from this shop, even if it's a gift from a current owner.
5. Trades can only be made with shells or eggs. The owner(s) of an adult Nereid or Mohnikei can only be changed under very special circumstances (ex. - the owner is leaving Gaia and wants a friend to have their pet).
6. Pet trades MUST be approved with the shop owner first.
7. The last and most important rule for right now: RP!! Feel free to RP your Nereids and Mohnikei here; just have FUN with them! That's what Gaia's all about, after all. *G*

Please read the following important details before asking for your pair to be placed in a Breeding Pool.
idea The cost for breeding will be 1.5k from each owner, 3k Total. If you are breeding 2 of your own Nereid the cost will be 2.5k. Payment must be made in full before the Nereids will be placed in a Breeding Pool.
idea Nereids will be left in the breeding pools for 1 week to give them plenty of time to... make shells. *grin*
idea Gen1 Nereids will produce between 2-4 shells per breeding, to be determined by the almighty random dice roll. The shop keeper will trust that the owners can work out among themselves how the shells will be distributed.
idea Once your Nereid has bred she will need time to recover before going into a pool again, not less than 30 days.
idea Any offspring that are not being kept by the owners must be sold or auctioned prior to the shells hatching. Little ones will not hatch until they have an official owner. If you do wish to sell your little ones, the shop owner can run the thread or the owners may do so. Just be sure to let me know so that it can be linked on the front page. Fee for selling a shell is 10% of the profit. Example: Nereid shell sells for 5k. Shop owner take = 500.
idea Nereids on the waiting list have first choice at using the Breeding pools. However, it is listed on the waiting list if the breeding fees have been paid or not. Should someone further down the list pay in full they will be allowed to use the breeding pool ahead of someone that has not paid.
idea Any generation Nereid may breed with any Nereid she chooses. The offspring will always be one generation higher than the highest involved in the breeding. Example: Gen1 + Gen2 = Gen3. Gen2 + Gen2 = Gen3. Gen1 + Gen3 = Gen4
idea Breedings involving a Gen2 Nereid, and further higher gen's, will produce between 2-3 shells, to be determined by the almighty random dice roll. Breedings involving Gen3 and on will produce 2 shells.

Taking the concept of the White List from another shop (And for the life of me I canNOT remember which one). Basically, it means that while there is a Black List for those who will be unable to purchase pets here, there is also a White List of people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and deserve to be recognized for it. There CAN be more than 3 on each list, btw...
