If you're here you probably are or know an artist who enjoys coloring lineart. Perhaps you or your friend hang out at the Lineart Jam and color other peoples' lineart for fun, with whatever colors you want. But did you know there are scores of people who could be willing to pay you gold in order to color their lineart the way they want? One of the biggest markets for this kind of coloring is in the Breedables Forum, where dozens of colorists are already working for steady pay. If you're already into coloring for pay, you know that right now it's hard searching and applying for jobs, competing with other colorists, coloring samples upon samples with nothing to show for it.
This is where "Box of Crayons" steps in.
It's set up rather like other artist groups you've seen around the Commissions forum, but instead of selling complete works, you're just selling the coloring job over someone else's lines -- provided they own the rights to those lines. Instead of you always running to the lineartist or breedable shop and throwing yourself on the line, "Box of Crayons" lets you set up a little nook of your own from which you can sell your services and let the lineartists come to YOU.
Features of the Shop
arrow A thread set up in the Requests and Commissions forum with your samples and contact information in there.
arrow A guild wherein you get your own complete thread with extended information about your services, samples, and whatever else you want to put in there.
arrow A critique thread for members and nonmembers to post WIPs or finished works for help
arrow A resources guide with links to member-made and outside tutorials
arrow A guild-run breedables shop where all members can participate and earn gold.
arrow And more...
Who are we looking for?
question What kind of work is this now?
heart People should have experience coloring either their own or other peoples' lineart in programs like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter or Paintshop Pro, or even Microsoft Paint, OR even traditional media like color pencils and markers.
question Yeah, but how much experience? How good do I have to be? Can I see examples of some people's work who already are in the shop?
heart We've already got members of a wide range of skill levels under the philosophy that those with lots of experience will help -- through services and threads in the guild -- those without, and also that it's good to provide a wide selection to customers. Please don't worry about skill level too much, as most people underestimate their own creative powers, anyway. If you'd like to view the shop, click here or on the banner at the top. That'll show you the members' samples.
question Do I have to have experience in other shops or in breedables? A reputation at the Lineart Jam perhaps?
heart While all of those things may be considered by the guild's crewmembers who will be choosing amongst the applicants, none of those things is required to join. We'll be looking at your work, your experience, your overall attitude/enthusiasm, and in some cases reputation (i.e. if you have one as an art theft, you prolly won't be accepted into the group). We'll take special notice of your attitude and whatever we can glean about you; enthusiasm and helpfulness are qualities weighed heavily by the judging staff.
Links to the Shop

exclaim Here is the guild-run petshop
exclaim And finally, here's the shop itself. As you can see, it's sort of a mini-listing of every artist. Eventually it will be condensed and updated even more than it is now.
