You heard me. I'm auctioning lineart of the original 151 Pokemon. It's partially for the money, and partially for the chance to draw all them Pokemon. But most of all, I wanna see a Pokemon Breedables shop be successful with my name attached. It's an ego boost, what can I say?

Jigglypuff Plushie (pg cool : Gone! Sketch Pikachu (pg2 cool : 1 left! Wooper Plushie (pg40): Gone! Vulpix Plushie (pg45): Gone! Paper Bags (here): 11 left! Headshots (pg104): Ongoing!

Updates:
5/01/06-Auction over! WINNING BID: Faidrae, SSJ Girl, and Sophari with:
G Corp Lab Coat - 124.5k
October '04 - 40k
138.5k pure
---
303k

That brings the price-per-lineart to 2,006g. Splitting that in half I get 1,003g per inking. Any guest inkers that want compensation can PM me and I'll send it to 'em as soon as I get my moneys. G/S/C and R/S/E Pokemon sets will cost 303k each. Additional pieces will cost 2,006g each.
4/25/06- Randy2love pointed out that Scyther has wings. Oops! I fixed it.
4/09/06- I suddenly realized that there are only thirty days in April. xp So the end date is 'changed' to May 1st which is the same day anyways.
4/05/06- MegaRose turns 17 today!
3/27/06- Check out page 114 for another non-Pokemon related offer.
3/25/06- It's taken nearly a year, but all 151 Pokemon are finally inked and ready to ship out! So, it's finally time to select a date to end this ordeal. Today is March 25th, 2005, and I'm giving about a month for people put in bids. Some information has been changed to reflect that the auction is no longer a work-in-progress.
3/22/06- Chuukoku's offering free headshots for every 250 bumps! Check it out here. I've also inked Spearow, Starmie, Staryu, Tauros, Tentacruel, Venusaur, Victreebel, and Weezing. Also also, a quick check of the list revealed that Metapod was missing. And Pidgeotto. And Scyther. Curiouser and curiouser. Welp, that means the only .jpg file (which only the sketches are saved as) is Zapdos, the last Pokemon that needs to be inked!
3/20/06- My good RL friend Chuukoku has inked Rapidash for me! I also have Pinsir, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Porygon, Primeape, Rhydon, Rhyhorn, Sandslash, Seadra, and Seaking. Only ten more left! My offer on page 99 is still standing, although it was largely experimental and I'm not going to keep bringing it up after now.
By the way, Chuukoku's going to be doing the inking for my next lineart auction. 3nodding
3/16/06- I've got a rather off-topic offer going on on page 99.
3/08/06- Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Nidorino (Nidonido, Nidochu, Nidowaffle... xp ), Onix, Pidgeot, and Pidgeotto are now inked. Fun fact: Ma-ti, the Planeteer with the power of Heart, is half Caucasian and half Amazonian. Why is this interesting? I would've thought, y'know, since they were going for cultural diversity, they wouldn't go with a guy who was HALF WHITE. They already had a white guy. Whatever. Twenty-two more to go, and I have someone working on Rapidash right now.
3/03/06- Machamp, Machoke, Magmar, Magneton, Marowak, Moltres, and Mr. Mime are inked. Only 28 more to go! Pretty good, hmm? And again, my plans for a sequel auction are here.
3/01/06- Dodrio, Gengar, Kabutops, Kingler, and Lapras are now inked. As of now, I have only 35 more Pokemon left to ink before the end date of the auction is set! I'm going to set the end of March as my goal to get them all done. Since I usually do two or three in one sitting, that's pretty lenient. And again, my plans for a sequel auction are here.
2/26/06- Hypno, Jolteon, Kabuto, Kadabra, Kangaskhan, Koffing, and Lickitung are now inked. And once again, I found an error I'd made in the past. I was thinking, 'hmm, I see KabutO, but no KabutOPS...they should be right next to each other alphabetically!' Aaaand it turns out I had like ten sketches in the wrong folder. xd Stupid me.
Big reminder, check out my plans for a sequel auction here.
2/25/06- I am pleased to announce that I am absolutely MAD. I have started planning out a second auction in the style of Catch 'Em All that will begin shortly after this one ends. Whenever that is. I don't know. Anyways, read about it here. I NEED FEEDBACK! COMMENT FOR THE LOVE OF MOD!
2/24/06- Fearow, Flareon, Golem, Graveler, Gyrados, Hitmonchan, and Hitmonlee are now inked! I'd also like to mention all the very very lovely Meowths SSJ Girl colored on page 91! *squees* heart In other news, I'm getting ambitious about starting a lineart auction right after this one, instead of launching the breedables idea I had planned. The lineart auction would be a collection of real animals native to the sub-Saharan African grasslands. The old breedables idea which probably nobody remembers would most likely be put on a back burner and brought back as a KOL-esque internet RPG someday in the future when I either find someone who can program who's willing to do it or learn to do it myself.
2/19/06- Articuno, Cloyster, Dewgong, Doduo, Electabuzz, and Electrode are now inked. And yes, I openly admit to having to use paths to get the smooth curves on Electrode. xd I did the face by hand though! Really! 54 Pokemon have yet to be inked. That means that, not including the time it takes for the auction to end, or the pictures for the bidders and affiliates, I am a little bit off from being 83.3% complete. Whoo!
2/17/06- I've inked Aerodactyl, Alakazam, Arbok, Arcanine (I think this just leaves Articuno for the A's), and Seel. And since I have a four day weekend, I am going to try and finish even more soon. Y'know, if I don't procrastinate like I always do...
2/11/06- Whoo! Thank GAWD, Snorlax has been guest inked, so I don't have to worry about those long, subtly curved, hard-to-ink lines! Everybody thank Neshaka! I did Muk, Venomoth, Wartortle, and Zubat myself! whee
...Hello, what's this? I have a sample image of an inked Venonat, but it's not in the big list? Geez, that thing was from friggin' September! What's wrong with me? FIXED! I'd better go through the list and make sure nothing else slipped through the cracks...
EDIT: Well, whaddya know... Bellsprout, Geodude, Grimer, Haunter, Krabby, and Magnemite were all inked, but not added. Shoot, I'm some kind of stupid. They're all up now.
1/27/06- *wanders into the thread, half-asleep, smacks up inked samples for Dragonite, Dugtrio, Gloom, Nidorina, and Parasect, then trudges off to slavishly play Animal Crossing again*
1/05/06- Whoo, first update of the New Year! On a personal note, I was sick on the 1st and a few days after that. It sucked! W00t. I've inked Chansey, Dragonair, Farfetch'd, and Vaporeon. I have a guest ink pending as well, I just need to put the little red sample thingy on it first.
12/11/05- Well, it seems when I put up the poll, the update I wrote out for it got erased...weird. Oh, there's a poll now. Yeah. Abra, Clefable, Omanyte, Raticate, Vileplume, and Weepinbell are inked. You may noticed that I'm using thicker lines to ink these newer sketches. That's because I figured out that it looks better and is generally easier than the size I used to use. I don't really intend to redo the other inks to match, though.
12/03/05- All right, all right, so I didn't get them all sketched by November. Shut up. The last four; Omanyte, Starmie, Snorlax, and Gyrados, are up. Also, I took down that 'Mega Watch Window' thing because it's obvious that people don't really care.
11/25/05- Dodrio, Gengar, Kabutops, Kingler, Lapras, Porygon, Rapidash, Rhydon, Seaking, Tauros, and Weezing are all up. That leaves four left to sketch! Then there's inking...eegh. But on the bright side, ONLY FOUR LEFT TO SKETCH!
11/13/05- I've got Aerodactyl, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Muk sketched. I feel that the wings on them flyin' types didn't come out quite right...hopefully I can redraw them during inking. I'm getting re-he-he-heally close to having all of them sketched! Then there's inking...and all the bidder and linker avi art. Whoo...crap. If the new sketches look odd, it's because I had to resize them for Imageshack to take them. And my software isn't super great at that.
11/06/05- MORE sketches! Today we have Alakazam, Cloyster, Dewgong, Dragonair, Electrode, Golem, Hitmonchan, Kabuto, Koffing, Machoke, Magmar, Pinsir, Poliwrath, Scyther, Staryu, Tentacruel, and Victreebel. That makes...seventeen? I have no life! Hot damn! All I have left to do are some of the legendaries and the really hard ones, I think! Then it's all inking. I hate inking, to be honest. At least, I hate inking with my tablet. I'd love to have a real inking pen in front of me right now. But all we have are ballpoints. Phooey.
11/05/05- I have sketches of Chansey, Graveler, Hypno, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Pidgeot, Poliwhirl, Dragonite, Lickitung, Farfetch'd, Arcanine, Kadabra, Grimer, Fearow, and Zubat. Holy s**t, that's fifteen at once. If I had done them that quickly before this thing might've been over by now. I'm going to make a point of getting these things all sketched before the end o' the month.
10/23/05- Good news, I got all As and Bs on my report card! And I bought these neat light-up kitty ears at Hot Topic. They were on sale. I'm gonna wear them to school on Monday. But, that's not what I'm using an update for. I've got sketches of Charizard, Clefable, Geodude, Pidgeotto, Raticate, Seel, Venomoth, Venusaur, Vileplume, and Weepinbell. I also updated the watch window, deleting my WitCo Store and Studio because it gets ZERO attention and I'll probably remake all the stuff separately anyway, and added Kirntaur Laboratories, which has been off hiatus for a while now. I just didn't put it on because I forgot.
10/17/05- Whoo, it's been a while since I updated. I now have sketches of Electabuzz, Hitmonlee, Persian, and Seadra up. I've had them sketched and scanned for a while now, but I never got around to putting them up. Heh, sorry. In other news, I got my braces removed on Saturday, and now I'm wearing a retainer. It's even more uncomfortable than braces right now, although I'm hoping that wears off. And it smells funny.
10/04/05- I loaded up my good ol' Fire Red Pokedex and sketched out ten more Pokemon! We've now got Arbok, Doduo, Kangaskhan, Machamp, Nidorina, Nidorino, Onix, Parasect, Rhyhorn, and Vaporeon. I'm pretty happy with how they came out. Onix is kinda hard, because all its segments have their own details, and Machamp's arms can get tricky because you don't want to overlap them wrong. Machamp's little black thong is an area of concern as well, not because it's hard to draw but because it's a Pokemon in tiny undies. Anyways, go check 'em out. And for good measure... INTEREST THREAD!
10/01/05- Whoo, new month! All right, to kick off October I have sketches of Dugtrio, Flareon, Jolteon, Marowak, Mr. Mime, and Primeape. I now have about half of the Pokemon sketched, and little less than half inked. It's been about three months now. Hoo boy, should I be pickin' up the pace? And just to make sure you're sick of seeing it, here's the link to my INTEREST THREAD!
9/30/05- Good news, I have a week off from school. I'm going to try and do as much of my Gaia art work as I can. Right now I have inked versions of Ponyta, and Slowbro, and sketches of Abra, Gloom, Magnemite, Magneton, and Sandslash. I've finally discovered the good sense to put a counter at the bottom of the list to track my progress numerically. I have also transferred the Mystery Bags to a minishop thread. And as a reminder, check out my INTEREST THREAD! Please?
9/28/05- You probably noticed the poll up there. Well, since the paper bag sales have slowed down a lot, I'm thinking of putting them in a separate thread on the main Minishops forum to make them more accessible.
BUT, more importantly, I have an INTEREST THREAD! Please please please PLEASE take a look and vote in the poll there. Whenever I do things like this everybody ignores them and its depressing as hell. Even if you're going to say the idea sucks, I need some kind of feedback. Please?
9/25/05- I've inked Omastar, Raichu (whose sketch I forgot to put up, apparently), Slowpoke, Squirtile, and Wigglytuff. Also, I'm considering setting aside the shop ideas I had ranted about that one time, and putting together a new idea. I've got a story and stuff already planned out, but I don't want to be juggling that and this auction at once. I guess that's more incentive to finish this up fast, huh?
9/23/05- I updated Meowth and Pikachu. The old lineart for them, after I took a step back to really look at them, just didn't look...natural. Hopefully the new ones fit better. I also inked Mewtwo, Sandshrew, and Vulpix.
9/20/05- I've got inked versions of Ivysaur, Machop, Ninetales, and Oddish. And have you seen the new item update? They've got 'glam rock' headbands at the hat store. Sure they call 'em 'glam' rock but they look EXACTLY like Axl Rose-style HEAVY METAL bandanas! *squee* I can force my boyfriend to dress like Axl! Hee hee...
9/19/05- Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day! My piratesp33k sucks, so I'm refraining from celebrating, but it's still worth mentioning, right?! Aye! So, I've inked Drowzee, Exeggutor, Golduck, Growlithe, Tangela, and Voltorb! Also, Sweet Child O' Mine is like, the most amazing song EV3R! It's on my Launchcast radio right now and oh my GAWD, everytime I hear it I just melt. ...Yeah, I'm done being silly now.
9/16/05- Whoo! New postystuffs. It's going to take a while to fully get used to the new graphics but it's looking pretty neat. Anyway, updates. I've inked Blastoise, Jigglypuff, Pidgey, Rattata, and Tentacool.
9/13/05- I've added inked Cubone, Eevee, Golbat, Ekans, and Beedrill. That's all I've got to report. I've been trying to get more done lately, since this is taking a long time.
9/11/05- Turns out the code thing switches to normal when you quote the list. Huh. Anyway, I've added sketches for Blastoise, Cubone, Growlithe, Krabby, Omastar, Tangela, and Voltorb. Why'd I bother doing a sketch for a Pokemon that's completely round and nearly featureless? Authenticity, I guess.
9/9/05- I took off the sketch links of the Pokemon that've been inked. I also added inked versions of Horsea (which I'd had for a while but forgot to put up), Charmeleon, Dratini, Jynx, and Magikarp. Out of curiosity, is anyone else seeing the Big List in its BBCode instead of real links? Is that a forum thing or is my browser just wonky?
9/8/05- I've replaced the pics inked in the last update with sample images. Curse my forgetfulness! I've also inked Exeggcute, Gastly, Goldeen, Kakuna, Psyduck, Shelder, and Weedle. It's also noteworthy that I've been deleting the sketches and older versions of sketches from my hard drive if the inked versions are done. It keeps my folders from getting all cluttery.
9/4/05- First off, I inked Caterpie, Clefairy, both Nidorans, Paras, and Poliwag. Poliwag's legs look kinda funked up, I might change them. I also added a visual aid to the boobie rant. No worries, it's PG-13.
9/3/05- I'm sort of wasting an update and title change on advertisement. See the watch window? Yeah, I've got a second auction going on. But I guess I can also use this time to say I've been using all of today to get a bunch of work done. I'm inking more sketches, organizing my hard drive, and I even drew up the sketches for the follow-up to the mystery bags. They still have to be inked and colored, and the current set has to sell out, of course... I'll probably have a lot of artstuffs up in a day or so.
9/02/05- Wow, I sold 11 bags already! 11x500=5500g. This was such a good idea. Also, because this thread evidently gets a decent amount of traffic, I'm putting up a little ad window on this post so that people can see the other things I do. Y'know, shops n' stuff.
9/01/05- See page 59 for a new treat!
8/26/05- I replaced the Bulbasaur and Charmander inked pics with new ones with 'sample' marks on them (better late than never), added the guest-inked Butterfree, and Mega-inked Mew and Mankey. Also, there's a new rant.
8/14/05- Imageshack decided to be agreeable today, so I replaced the guest ink links (I still have to add sample marks though). I've replaced the Mew sketch with a better drawing as well, along with new sketches of Drowzee, Golbat, Machop, Magikarp, Mankey, both Nidorans, Poliwag, Shellder, and Tentacool.
8/13/05- Check this out:

Feien
I was just clicking around Breedables when I saw your auction and thought to myself, "Wow! That's incredible! 151 Pokemon!" Then I went to look at the art and the first one I looked at was the Bulbasaur sketch and I absolutely fell in love with it. In fact, I felt compelled to take it into Photoshop so I could practice inking on it. I know that may sound bad, but I just thought your sketch had such energy to it I wanted to play around, just for my own private learning, you know? But I figured, I did it, and you obviously have a lot of work on your hands, so I wanted to give you the lineart so you had one less thing to do if you want it.

http://www.elfcomic.com/junk/gaia/bulbasaur.gif

I never would have used it myself, I just thought I needed the practice doing lineart in Photoshop and the sketch was so great! I apologize if I've offended you, you don't have to use the lineart and you can yell at me for having played with the sketch. But you're a really good artist, and you have a real knack for sketching. heart

I'm so using that Bulbasaur. The inking is phenomenal!
8/13/05- New High Bid! W00t w00t! Also, I should probably get caught up with my artstuffs. I have some Harem Heights matters to deal with and Kirntaurs to grow, and a few miscellaneous requests to fill, then I'll probably do more inking for this auction.
8/09/05- Some time yesterday the thread reached 50 pages. That's freakin' awesome.
8/04/05- Kiki Robin unfortunately had to withdraw her bid.
7/26/05- The Vulpix plushies have run out. More importantly, we have redrawn sketches for Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and Charmander, and new sketches for Beedrill, Butterfree, Charmeleon, Ekans, Kakuna, Metapod, Paras, Pidgey, Sandshrew, Spearow, Squirtle, and Wartortle. Whoo!
7/23/05- The Wooper and Jigglypuff are gone, and Vulpix plushies have been released on page 45! Sing along to Pat Benatar to get one!
7/18/05- The Wooper plushie is up on page 40! Find a tambourine and lure a Wooper into your arms!
7/13/05- An inked Meowth ( heart ) and sketched Ponyta are up.
7/12/05- A limited run of sketchy Pikachu sorta-pets is for sale on page 28. Only ten will be sold! Also, there's still that one Jigglypuff Plushie left on page 8.
7/11/05- Meowth ( heart ), Oddish, Bellsprout, Rattata, Jynx, Golduck, Slowpoke, Slowbro, and Eevee are up in the big list. Also, there's one Jigglypuff Plushie (page cool left.
7/10/05- First bid!
7/10/05- Ditto, Diglett, Pikachu, and Mew are inked, and samples are down in the big list.
07/09/05- The first of three limited plushies can be found on page 8! Sing like a Jigglypuff to get one.
07/09/05- Ivysaur, Goldeen, Venonat, and Ditto are sketched and placed in the big list.
07/08/05- Auction is set up and exists.

Mega Gaian

Down to business!

Starting Bid: 151k
That would come out to 1k for each Pokemon, which is a good deal and the least I'm willing to do this kind of crazy thing for.
Minimum Increment: 1g
Yeah, it seems a bid tedious, but you can bid 151,001g, then the next person can bid 151,002g, and on and on. Why? To make up for the high starting bid.
Autobuy: None
I wanna see how far this goes. I really don't mind if this thing only goes to 151,001g, because I get to draw all the Pokemon (and that's always a treat), but it'd be amusing to watch if this thing actually did go high.

WINNING Bid:
Faidrae, SSJ Girl, and Sophari:

Other Stuff:
-All items are accepted. Store items are accepted at store prices, rares and donation items are accepted at mid-Teh Guide (this may change if another price guide shows up that is more accurate and updates more, like how this one replaced Lucky Devil), and Sealed Envelopes are always 5k. Just tally up your own bids, 'kay?
-The winner can come back to me at a later time to commission Pokemon #152-251 for the amount of the winning bid. So, if this ends at 150,001g, the winner pays that at the end of the auction, then can come back later when they have another 150,001g to get the next set of Pokemon.
-The winner can come back again for #252-386 (I think that's as high as they go) with the amount of the winning bid, again.
-The winner can contact me at any time to do extra Pokemon, like hybrids (anyone else remember Venustoise? xd ), angelics/demonics, cosplays, or what have you. Extra Pokemon are priced at the amount of the winning bid divided by 151.
-I get a pink female Meowth from the winner's shop. ninja
-If, instead of commissioning me for more Pokemon, the winner hires another artist to do additional lineart, that's their deal. I don't mind.

Auction Times:
-The auction began at about 11:00 at night (Hawaii time), on July 8th, 2005.
-The auction will end at about 8:00 at night (Hawaii time), on May 1st
-There's no anti-snipe because I don't care about anti-snipes. xd

Necessary Legal Stuff
Pokemon is copyrighted to Nintendo, Game Freak, and whoever else it's copyrighted to. I make no claims of ownership of the franchise. However, I am doing all the actual drawing. I get credit for rubbing a pencil across paper. This whole auction ordeal is about as legal as any of the existing Pokemon shops here on Gaia, and they're doing just nifty, so I'm guessing I'll be fine.
Note: All sketches are done by myself, and lineart inked by guests are clearly marked.

Rants!

Chances are, I'm gonna feel like whining from time to time. I'll do that here, near the bottom of the thread, where you can easily avoid it.

I do not understand women. Considering I'm of the female species myself, that's really saying something. But I just don't get the whole PMS mood swing thing people keep talking about. I never feel any different when I'm on my period. Maybe I'm extremely lucky. But whatever it is, I don't get it.
But that brings me to another weird thing I don't get. We can make fart jokes and poop jokes and all kinds of vulgar jokes, but menstruation is too gross to joke about. Why? Why is that bodily function forbidden? I'm not saying we should start making period jokes, but it's a double standard, and that always bugs me. I say we stop using bathroom humor altogether.
This has nothing to do with anything. I just wanted to fill my rant post. But I wasn't angry about anything relevent to the auction. And rants are supposed to be angry, right? I assumed, from the word 'rant,' that they're angry. But some people will write little journal entry blog thing craps and call them rants even though they're just some dull neutral news about something their cat did. I don't get it. That's not ranting, that's blathering or yammering or rambling. I'm kinda caught up in semantics, but you get my picture, right?
In conclusion, I like sharp cheddar cheese.

I often find lineart auctions go for far more gold than mine despite having lineart that, in my opinion, is at the same level of quality as my own. My first reaction is that people in this forum hate me for some inexplicable reason and avoid my auctions like the plague. But then I realize this can't be true, and I'm just being an angsty-butt. Then I think, maybe the bidders are just friends of the artist and bid as a favor. But that still revolves around me not having friends, and as far as I know I'm not a total shrew, so I dismiss that as sulking. Then I consider that perhaps other people don't like my art as much as I do. That's a posibility. I personally prefer the way I do things over some of the stuff out there. Maybe I have too big an ego. Or, perhaps the concepts I draw are unpopular. People want pretty fluffy things, like winged cats and magical goat people and all that crap. My lineart sets sometimes include things like weird bug hybrids or sea monsters or a fetus stage. I can understand not liking a fetus stage. But my main theory is that other people are more famous than me and thus people will buy their work regardless of what else may be out there.
That's part of why I'm doing this auction, to grab a little fame for myself. Maybe someday I can auction a generically designed five-piece set and get bids up in the thousands of thousands (k-ks?) and have people fight over the chance to color my stuff. But until then I'm working my way up with this auction. A 151-piece auction. Let me make this clearer: I am auctioning 151 PIECES OF LINEART. And yet I have no bids, while there are other 5-PIECE sets being auctioned for TWENTY TIMES MY STARTING BID.
I hope nobody takes me too seriously, after all, this is just a rant. I'm not trying to be reasonable, this is all just venting.
In other news, I'm not putting the most recent rant first. I prefer having things in chronological order, like a normal person, so there.

Missouri and Arizona had better get their asses down here to Hawaii and take their landmarks back. But seriously, I live like, right next to Pearl Harbor, so when I'm riding the city bus home from summer school, I see a lot of tourists. Some are Japanese, and you can usually tell them apart from the local Japanese-Americans because of little subtle differences in facial structure, and the fact that they speak Japanese. And the mainlander tourists can be recognized easily from their BLINDING WHITE SKIN. Seriously, does everybody in North America live in caves or something? They're friggin' pale.
There are a few different varieties of white person that I've made note of in my travels. First is the common regular-white, distinguished by strangely resembling Crayola's 'Peach' color of crayon. Then there's the semi-transparent white, who actually kinda look more red than anything, because all their creepy white person arteries show through. I have a friend like that. They look like they've always come back from a ten-mile jog through the desert while having a rash. And arguably the creepiest of all, there's the PALE VAMPRIRE WHITE DEVIL WHITE. They're actually white. Not albino, 'cause most of them have freckles, but other than that, they're like pure Michael Jackson white. It's friggin' scary, man. Do they have trouble out in the sun? Is their skin, per chance, thinner than that of us normal brown people? Maybe they're selectively breeding themselves for whiteness, like how farmers make seedless oranges. Whatever it is, it's weird.
And no, besides their weird skin and the fact that they name all our landmarks after their states, I have nothing against the haoles.

I'm finding I can't keep up with the breedables forum. It's not like it's THAT busy, but I always miss out on flatsales n' stuff. I think it's actually because I have such a one-track mind, and if I've got something else going on I focus on that instead. For example, this auction. So, if any flatsales go down in other threads, and I wanted to try and buy, I'll probably forget. That kinda sucks, but I have nobody to blame but myself.
I'm also finding that I'm not doing a good job managing Kirntaur Labs. If anybody out there who knows me well wants to help manage the business side of one of my shops, g'head and ask me about it in the thread. That is, if anybody reads these things. Whatever.
The guy who was supposed to help me manage it hasn't had internet access for a while now because he's going through some real life trouble. I miss him. His name is [ Dead.Rest ] and I met him in ED. He doesn't really have that much experience with breedables but he does want to major in business and run a record label or production company or something, so I figure I can leech onto him and have him focus on the businessy organization stuff so I can focus on art. But he's been gone. I miss my internet boyfriend. Waaaaaaaah... gonk

Not a rant, but I've got something I wanted to type. I have a few ideas for RP-intensive journal pets that I'd want to start, but I don't do a very good job maintaining the shops I have, which sucks. I figure if anybody reads this, I could get the ideas out there and maybe someone can approach me about actually making a shop. All I'd do would be the art and the concept, I'm not up to the task of keeping everything maintained. So if someone out there likes the ideas and can manage a shop well...give me attention, 'kay?
Idea number one! Pokemon spirits.
'Earth eventually becomes destroyed by a potent combination of human warfare and natural disasters. Great storms ravage the sea and radiation plagues the land. Mew, a wandering alien from a distant galaxy, finds Earth in its sad state and takes pity on it. He creates Ho-oh, Lugia, Celebi, the three birds, and the three dogs from his blood, and all other Pokemon from his tears, and sends them to aid the humans. Some, like the Miltank, take the places of Earth animals that were slowly dying out. Some, like the Diglett, were sent to replant the trees and bring new life to the land. The three birds maintained the weather, and Lugia governed them sternly. The three dogs controlled the elements, and Ho-oh watched over them knowingly. Celebi protected the forests and guarded the delicate fabrics of time. Together, they rebuilt Earth, creating a veritable paradise.
Mew faded into the background, a silent ruler over the Pokemon. Few people ever saw him, and those who did revered him as a god. However, as the generations passed, the humans forgot there ever was a time without Pokemon, and Mew became nothing more than a legend to them. Feeling his work restoring the Earth was complete, Mew retreated to the bottom of the ocean, into hibernation.
As time went on, arrogant new humans began to find ways to capture and maniuplate the Pokemon. They restrained them and bent them to their will. In many instances they lived in peace, using Pokemon as simple servants, but in some cases, they pitted them against each other in battle, for the amusement of humans. Some Pokemon were driven to extinction, such as the Kabutops and Omastar. And some humans would steal and abuse Pokemon for their own greedy purposes.
Mew has awakened from a thousand-year sleep to find the humans he had coddled for so long taking advantage of the creatures he left for them. He and his loyal creations must now stand up to the humans and make them understand the danger of their folly.'
Okay, so, the first Pokemon of each species, the ones created from Mew's tears, are the 'kings' of Pokemon. They, their close family, and their servants have magical ability and secondary humanoid forms (y'know, anthros). Humans don't know of their existence, nor do many Pokemon (mainly the domesticated ones).
You, the Gaian, create a Pokemon spirit (not a king or legendary, but direct heirs and lower nobility and servants) or a Pokemon Trainer and play the role of him/her/it, as the spirits make themselves known to the humans. The spirits have magical powers, but the humans can capture and train regular Pokemon. Powers are learned and Pokemon are captured through the shop. At first there would be no set 'point' to the RP, it would mainly be personal interaction between spirits and humans, but eventually a third element, the mutants, would be introduced.
Rumor has it that the Wobbuffet king Warrock's three daughters have been enchanted by Mew and have great powers. The spirits often speculate on what those are, but very few really know. Each of the three triplets lives in her own domain, the elder two in castles, and the third, the somewhat mad Mizara, has secluded herself in an underground labyrinth of hallways and machinery. The three are stuck in a 'human' form, never to become true Wobbuffet, and Mizara, in her insanity, has been striving to create a machine that could alter her body into that normal of her species. She has not yet perfected the machine, but more and more unfortunate test subjects of hers have been found running around. They are mutants, normal Pokemon that have been altered to look like spirits, but have no magic, and cannot change back to their normal state.
The mutants begin to appear in numbers at around the same time the spirits make themselves known to the humans. They begin to investigate and try to find the source of the mutations. Mutants would be made available to Gaians on a very limited basis.
Idea number two! One of my little pet projects, 'Vidsville Academy.'
AgWorld is the land of the human fantasy. All works of fiction, games, anime, books, movies, have been artificially recreated in a new dimension created by the outcast nerds of Earth. Gaia itself would be a small part of AgWorld.
Real people had made their home in AgWorld milleniums ago. Some were changed into other species (Zoras, Ronso, stuff) upon request, but there are still plenty of humans in the world. And there are monsters. And wicked cool spacecraft. Basically, anything.
In the center of AgWorld is Central City, the capital city of the dimension. Central City is the home of the most prestigious school in AgWorld, the Vidsville Academy. The academy is a boarding school for children training to be fighters (a common profession in AgWorld). Sometimes as young as three years of age, the children are left by their parents to be trained. As they get older they get to choose their own classes, and thus whether they'll be mages, fighters, whatever. Academic courses are covered as well, of course. You would RP as a student of your own creation living at the Academy.
This was actually an idea for a little manga I was gonna do, but I never get around to things like that. I even have some example characters.
'Amega Aman (Mega Man pun!) was left at the Academy when she was three years old. Her mother was a martial arts student from the Tendo School of Anything Goes Martial Arts (Ranma reference), and her father's occupation is currently unknown, although rumors persist that she is infact the daughter of a notorious space pirate (Outlaw Star?). She is 100% human, and a very plain one at that. She has never left the boundaries of Central City, but often fantasizes about traveling to new places. She's too scared to actually go, though. She's a tad aggressive, but fortunately takes out frustration and extra energy through her combat training. She is part of the World class Long Arm (.hack), and fights with a spear. Her skills at magic are very poor. Academically, she's a B average student.'
Idea number three! I call them 'Retcons,' although that's not the right word for the concept.
A huge war was fought in a nearby country, leaving many, many people with deep emotional scars. You, as a Gaian, volunteer to provide a home for an adult who has lost their memory due to trauma. He or she lives with you, and eventually begins to remember bits of their past. As they learn more and more, you gain pictures of them in their younger days. In a way, the certed 'pet' would grow in reverse. I just like the idea of growing a pet in reverse through its memories.
Aaanyway, if anybody actually thinks the ideas are good, and actually reads this, gimme a coment in the thread or something.

Artstuffs!
King Mew in all his glory
Rhyo, King of Rhydon. Not an original name, I know.
Mizara Wobbuffet, scowling for the camera
The principle of Vidsville Academy, Ashley Mindy. Principal Mindy is a Kokiri, hence the fairy.
Combat strategy teacher Wan Rin, an Oni of the Urusei Yatsura persuasion
Mista Rainladen, technically a Vidsville faculty member, who lives and works amongst the students, giving advice and counseling when needed and keeping a close eye on some of the more dangerous students.

What is it with men? I don't mean the normal things that are 'it' with men. I mean they expect women to be disgusting. Try looking at drawings of women, done by men. Most of the time they stare vacantly, have cat ears or some inane bestial s**t like that (there's a difference between animal features as part of a character and animal features meant to be erotic), and most prominently, they have misshapen, enormous breasts. Okay, consider the look of a normal breast. Normally they fit in one hand comfortably, are not perfectly round or stiff, and don't have nipples bulging every which way. Now look at the average 'sexualized' fictional woman's breasts. Some of them are so large they grow outwards, no longer looking like breasts and more like long fleshy tubes. I wasn't aware that heterosexual men liked fleshy cylindrical objects thrust in their faces. Other times you see boobies that are big, but try to retain roundness. They usually begin to engulf the poor girl's chin. And in some particularly creepy cases, the extra fat in the breasts flops around a bra or bikini so that they are lumpy. Lumpy breasts aren't sexy. They're cancerous. And personally I abhor the visible nipples look. It's trashy.
In my opinion breasts are at their best when around a B or C cup, perky, and shaped naturally. In other words, like breasts, not chest penises or a chest a** or chest tumors. I just wish more artists would embrace the way the female body looks naturally, instead of making things up on their own, because quite frankly I don't think most of them have ever seen real breasts in their lives.
New! A nifty diagram!

Things that piss me off:
-Intentional bad spelling. You know the type. 'Eggu.' 'Shoppe.' 'Secks.' Ending any possible word with 'eh.' DAMMIT, PEOPLE. Are the chatspeakers not bad enough? Do we really need to bring this down on ourselves?
I mean, I can understand to a certain extent. I use 't3h' to add a certain emphasis to things I say. I speak the 1337. I make up words like 'hugenormous' and 'idiotard.' But I don't pull that crap at every possible opportunity! I've come across crappy minishops where the header to every post was misspelled 'for humor.' It wasn't funny to begin with. If it doesn't aid you in making a point, leave it be. And why is every crappy pixel doll and wishlist shop titled with 'shoppe' somewhere in its name? I guess it's a good thing, then I can pick out the good from the bad. 'Oops! That's not a minishop, that's a shoppe! I'd better steer clear unless I want to contract the crappiness and waste 500g on an anime picture with Gaia items pasted over it!'
-The word 'femme.' Isn't that French or something? I don't really have anything against the word or the French, it's just the way people use it that ticks me off. For some reason, nobody says 'male and female' anymore. It's 'male and femme.' Why? Is 'female' offensive? Is that why we've replaced it with an adjective describing a crossdresser? We've been using the word 'female' for long enough that I should think nobody would care if it has 'male' in the name. And hey, if you're still so uptight that you'll spend energy avoiding a six-letter word, think of it this way: Males are missing the 'fe.' They're fe-less, and therefore inferior to you. Happy now?
And to those who use it because it 'looks good,' please see my above assessment of 'shoppe.'
-Inflation-loving elitists. Ever been into Site Feedback? Every so often there'll be a thread about inflation. Some semi-new, reasonable, literate user comments on how the rich minority can manipulate prices to their own advantage, making it nigh-impossible for the average user to quest for the rarer items. And they're right. The admins really do need to step in to regulate the Gaian economy to prevent monopolies and unfair business practices. But then, along come maybe one or two filthy rich jackasses. "The economy is fine and if the admins do anything about it they're ******** retards!!! GET OFF MY INTERNET AND AWAY FROM MY GOLD, N0000000000000000000B ********!!!" They seem to be trying to make anybody with a halo look like an a**. A lot of richer Gaians are nice people. A lot of newbies are nice people. It's a vocal minority that always ruins things for everyone, and when the economy of this place is neglected and unfair anyway, things get way out of hand. I hate it. I hate the assery, I hate the resentment and the spite and the fact that the admins will do nothing about it other than tossing us a gold sink once every bazillion years. I don't even like the rare items, with the exception of DJs which are only semi-cool and not worth the price, they're pretty shitty. I just wish people wouldn't be so opposed to the idea of getting along.
But y'know what the larger problem is? The options for making gold are too limited. And no, I don't mean they should add more minigames or give more gold or anything, that'd make things worse. I mean there are three major gold sources in Gaia: art (breedables, commissions, minishops), exchanging/vending, and donating. Not all people are good at drawing. Not all people have the knack for the buying/selling business (I've tried it and suck at it). Not all people can donate, whether due to monetary problems or being too young to really get the money to Gaia. What if there were only three forms of income in the real world? That'd be a nightmare. We, as users, need to create a new industry. I mean, somebody had to think up the breedables, right?
My suggestion: a music industry. There are probably enough musicians on Gaia to make this a reality. I know I've occasionally written poems that'd be great set to music, but I'm not really musically inclined. It'd be kinda neat to pay someone to compose a tune for my work and perform it. Or perhaps, if you're working on a Flash cartoon and need a theme song, you could pay someone. I imagine that at the very least there could be a small music business so that richer members can get theme songs for their RP characters.
-Mayonaise. I think it tastes bad. What? You expect a long essay for everything I list?
10/01/05-
I'm sure by now everybody's become familiar with my 'B/C ignores me, wah wah unfair aristocracy' rant. So I'm gonna remix it a little here. Get ready, whining in five...four...three...two...
I'm starting to understand why 'normal' people are so interested in celebrities. Us nerds never gave too many shits about what some 'famous person' does, right? But that's probably because they're so distant from us. When you come to some place like Gaia, where things are more accessible, it becomes more real.
You can see firsthand the kind of praise the 'popular' people get. When someone with a well-known name posts a 'reserved' thread to set something up, all his friends and half of the forum starts posting all excited-like over what it might be. In other places like ED, when a 'prominent' member rights some troll-post, they get worshipped by people who formed their opinions of things based on their writing, even if they're being needlessly insulting and not making any real points about anything (perfect example: Maddox's webpage). We can see it and if we're trying to do something similar we can feel the impact. It's not a good feeling to put up a new shop at the same time as a rich B/Cer and find that you don't get a single post other than your own while their's gets twenty pages in an hour. It's like being a non-player character in your own life.
And after having it happen to you all the time over the course of a year...you really start to wish you were one of them.
And why not? It's about time us 'newbies' (although we've been around long enough to know what's what, we're not 'good enough' to be oldbies) had a chance to shine! Or at least a chance to be looked at for more than a brief second before being written off as insignificant.
I wish I could get millions of positive responses when I set up an interest thread (hint hint). I wish I could have people scrambling to buy in my flatsales instead of bumping for ages in hopes that someone realizes that 'Kirntaur Labs' thread is a breedable shop (HINT HINT). I wish when I posted a journal entry about my life people I didn't even know would post good luck wishes because they want to be on my good side. I wish I could throw around '03 donation items like they were nothing when I felt like getting a new custom pet. I wish other people wished they were me.
And I have a feeling that we all want that. Maybe if we stick together we can at least grab a little more luxury for ourselves. I might not've been around when the rich oldbies were, but I can tell that most of them are friends and they haven't been working alone. Maybe we can follow their example.

MEGA'S HALLOWEEN REVIEW RANT YAY! Now that all the Halloween commotion is finally over I can relax and sum it all up.
First order of business, the plot update: Sasha always looks cross-eyed now, what's up with that? I liked the plot, but once again it leaves WAAAY too many mysteries unsolved. I'd prefer some sort of closure about at least one of the things we've been speculating about. The updates explained nothing and raised a bunch more questions. For example, why was that Christmas elf wearing Mickey Mouse's gloves?
Slightly out of sequence, Trick-or-Treating: I really liked Trick-or-Treating in towns. I was able to pick up a ******** of bugs, flowers, and trash (check my vend!) while going about my candy-collection. However, it was slow going and Jack often blocked the deposit robots. Speaking of Jack, why is he so huge? I felt as if he were going to eat me! Trick-or-Treating in shops was a bit less fun, as it was primarily a clicky-clicky affair. Nothing to see, really. Not all the NPCs were in costume, which is very disappointing. I did get an unwanted pair of those godforsaken pants when I should've gotten box #8, which pisses me off. I didn't get any 8s or 9s, but I have two of everything below that, plus a third pair of pants. Dammit.
Before I forget, the Refurbished Sheets: Love 'em love 'em love 'em. They're so pretty in their own charming third-world way. I bought a bunch, and managed to get all but the Angelic by myself. That one I got from my boyfriend in exchange for my extra horned. I have a nafrillion extras, though...hopefully the sheets were limited and they'll inflate in a year or so. If not, oh well. I can donate them to well-behaved newbies.
And of course, THAT ******** GRUNNY DEBACLE: Horrible, horrible, horrible. First of all, posting was the only way to get Grunnies. SPAMFEST AHOY. Everything else aside, that was a bad idea. Beyond that, it's all the users' fault. Surrounding yourself with people with the same amount of Grunnies was NOT the best way to raise your numbers. If it was, how'd the person with the highest get so many? There was nobody higher to 'leech' from. Some boob with a misconception of how the event worked had a bad idea and ran with it. People were kicked out of places by people they've never even met for nothing that they did. People were taking PRIDE in how many people they had 'banned.' I don't care what you say, it was elitist and shouldn't have happened. Why didn't an admin come around to say 'cut it out?' They could have at least paid attention to the people in the event! The avatar changes weren't even worth it. The 3rd level was okay, but I did NOT like the idea of losing my precious hair. The only good thing that came out of this was the Grunny Slippers, which are too goddamn adorable for words. The fact that my posting got thousands of gold was nice too, although I could've done that without the aid of thousands of clamoring Grunny-whores.
In conclusion: Could've been much, much better.

I'm just gonna go ahead and go on another wistful tangent about grand works that were never meant to be. Okay? Okay.
SO. First of all I think it would be totally kickass if the Breedables Forum had a newsletter. It would tell you about big events happening at the more popular stores, and do little articles about obscure stores with big potential, to help them get more publicity. There would be interviews with the really big names, so maybe they could give advice to the newer members on how to build a successful shop. And there'd be editorials on the state of the Breedables community. And maybe a little section for people to buy advertising space. Y'know. To keep it in business. It would really help out the forum by giving it a greater sense of community. Y'know? It's kind of intimidating for newer members to wander in and see that all the really good pets are super hard to get, and all the cheap ones are low quality and wind up never growing because the shops go under. That happened to me a lot at first. Some people start to become resentful towards the more successful members. Remember that 'Breedables Revolution' thing a while back? It was a thread in GCD about how a lot of breedables are overpriced, and a lot of the 'big names' came in to defend themselves (and put up very strong arguments). Those kinds of things are always just barely about to maybe happen possibly someday, because nobody really knows each other. I rant about that all the time. But with a newsletter, maybe the real people behind the fancy avatars will be more visible, and people will be able to get along better.
BUT. That would take lots of work to maintain and quite frankly I'm no journalist.
My other idea for today: A zoo. I like zoos. Zoos are neato. The Breedables forum has near-infinite potential for creating new and unusual animals. So why not make a Gaian zoo? It'd probably have to be either a guild or a separate website entirely, and it'd display all kinds of pets in a zoo theme, with little descriptions of the animals and links back to the shops where they are sold. If I were to do it it'd be a privately owned zoo, with only my pets in it, because then I get to show off, AND it might give small startup pet shops incentive to give me pets, because they'd get more publicity. ninja And it'd be good for documenting old pets whose shops went under, and stuff like that. Humanoid pets would be zookeepers and tour guides. And maybe there'd be a gift shop full of minishop-style merchandise made by the pet sellers to help them even more.
I could do the same thing with items from the Minishops forum. I could make a large museum website displaying all the neat trinkets I get, with little stories behind each, giving them silly 'historical' value kinda like some of the avatar item descriptions.
BUT. I don't have the time to make a website or another guild. I don't have the knowledge to make a website, period. And I don't know if it'd really catch on. It'd essentially be a personal gallery. Why would anyone bother to look?
Yeah, pipe dreams are fun, huh?
