Welcome to Gaia! ::

The story so far (yes its long I know shut up and read it)

In the winter of the year 2005, the United states declared war on North Korea. A massive arms race began, similar to the cold war. Many suspected it would come to nuclear war. Other countries worldwide viewed this arms race with distress.

In 2007 fearing the growing power of these countries, Russia, Britain, France, Spain, and Italy departed the UN, and formed the European League. Soon other countries joined, and eventually the UN collapsed.

In 2008 a dictator named Viktor Kateavski seized control of Russia, and launched an attack on the European league. They seized all of eastern Europe, and much of western Europe.

In 2009 Britain attacked and gained control of northern Africa. In this same year, the price of weapons stockpiling took its toll on the US and Korea. The economy of both countries collapsed. The US dollar was worth less than the paper it was printed on. Entire cities were deserted, most notably new York. Law enforcement became a joke, and criminals ran rampant.

In the year 2011, Britain sized the nuclear stockpiles of the US, and turned them against Russia. In mere days, the entire country was obliterated. Every major city was hit. The land was seized by Great Britain.

By 2026 Britain controlled most of the world. At this time a group of fundamentalist Christian terrorists launched a massive attack on the now primarily Islamic Britain using nuclear weapons stolen from North Korean stockpiles. London, the rebuilt Moscow, Cairo, and Hong Kong were all hit around 6 in the morning on August 15. A new Militant government was instated and re named the empire "The Collation"

In the year 2569 The Collation enjoyed dominan over the entire earth. The Collation was held together by a worldwide network of satellites. All government buildings were connected to a central "hub" located in middle Africa. All power in the world was supplied through nuclear plants spaced around the earth, making energy cheaper than water.

In 2577, a group of insurgents snuck into the hub, and gained access to the main terminal. They removed every safety measure and put all power plants on full burn. They locked the terminal out, and within seven hours every single one exploded. Urban life was eradicated in an instant, and only far away from cities did people survive.

It is now the year 2603. Those who have ventured back to the cities have returned deranged and mutated or not at all. Usually they die soon after, but some have survived and even bred. Twisted mutants, sick perversions of humanity roam around, killing an hunting. The last few humans live in close knit nomadic colonies that are constantly searching for food, for much of earth vegetation has died out. Weapons are valued more than lives, for they are rare, and more rare is amputation. The energy cells that powered collation laser weapons long ago expired. People have resorted to archaic ballistic weapons, and even knives and clubs. The world has been turned into a desert hell, and humanity is on the brink of extinction

Kala is a young boy with bold ambitions. He imagines himself uniting this crazed world, as he is both human and mutant. He takes a mostly humanoid form, but gills are hidden behind his ears, enabling him to breathe underwater. Also, he has been gifted with incredible speed, moving up to 25 mph in a dash. This has given him an increased edge in close combat fighting, and he prefers to use a wicked dagger, stained red from the blood of those who cross him. Other than his fighting, Kala is a benevolent friend. He is one of the few Christians left, and now that Britain has fallen, he is proud of his religion. He has medium length brown hair, coming down past his flaring green eyes. A cocky smile is usually displayed on his face, but he is a true friend to all.

Marcus leaned with his back against the post of the hastily erected shanty saloon. He was rolling a cigar, his hands sure and deft. He finished quickly, and lit it with The flint and steel he kept in his pocket. He stood up and looked around at the little shanty town. Many such places had sprung up recently. People were even trying to farm the broken land with, he had to admit, some success. He grunted to himself, reached into one of the many pockets on his trench coat and retrieved a battered and ancient looking watch. It was an ungodly hour to be awake, but he would rather be tired than dead, and this village made him suspicious. He turned back into the shanty, and poked James with the toe of his boot.

"Wake up kid," he grunted, "We wore out our welcome sometime last week, its time we got a move on."
Kala stood from his place in the saloon, one hand absently tossing his dagger up and down, the other resting atop the table he was seated at. He caught the dagger and sheathed it, tossing a few coins to the tender, who laughed at him. Coins...what use were they now? No one sold anything worth buying anymore, and they usually charged absurd prices for it. Kala thought about where he might go, and realised that he had nowhere important to go. He decided to follow the other man at a distance, just for amusement.
James rolled over and blinked. "Move on? Where?!?!" He pushed himself up and stood, yawning and stretching. "I'm sick and tired of this. We always wake up in the middle of the night and leave." He sighed and grabbed up his only posessions: a handgun and small canteen. "But I suppose I can't leave you if I wanna live. Where to now?
Kala stopped, one hand dropping to his trusted dagger. "None of import. I travel where I wish, and for now I wish to travel the same way you are going. My last location was the eastern plains of the Americas, but who knows where I will go next. Do you have a problem with me travelling?"
"I have a problem with getting a dagger in the heart, and I wouldn't put it past these townsfolk to hire someone like yourself o put it there." He rolled himself a new cigar as he spoke, and James walked up behind him bleary eyed. Marcus turned to James, "This guy says he's going the same way as us. I don't trust him, but we could use someone else along for the ride. The road isen't safe these days, never was, but now... still, I want a second opinion."
James rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, and turned to the newcomer. He got close to him and stared straight in his eyes. Backing away, he said "I vote for him staying." Turning away, he muttered "Seems sane enough."
Marcus sauntered up to kala. "Whats your name kid? I never trust a man unless
I know his name, and if you wanna keep along our route I assure you, my trust will be somthing you direly need."
"Trust is something not easily gained, nor given. I, too, require a name for trust, but there won't be true trust among us for a while, will there? I know that I have no intentions of killing you, but that isn't enough. Until I trust you, and you me, I will not give my name. For now," Kala paused, thinking. "For now, call me Paul."
"Fair enough." Marcus paused, "You can call me Six-gun, Paul, and this here is Magnum. Look we were about to head out, and we could use some company you know what I mean? An extra gun... or whatever... is always a good idea on the road these days." He coked his head to the side, and a supremly arrogant smile was just visible under his stubble and cigar. "So, what do ya say kid? You in?"

((<-means ooc for the records, and im done until tonight, magnum can have me do any little things like travling and whatnot))
