Welcome to Triple the Trouble, the breedable lineart auction!

We are currently in our pre-auction phase. No ending date, no auto buy, just bid above the HB if you want to. Current HB: 130.75k!

This is a twenty-four -- oh yeah, you heard me right, 24 piece lineart sale! This is some hot stuff! All of the art is drawn by Natsube, and the auction is hosted by Kitsuta. NEW: Book_sprite has offered to color the lineart-- maybe even the whole set depending on high the bid goes -- so come and get it! To see a sample of book_sprite's coloring, just look at our banners! domokun

How did all this art come about? Well, Natsube started an interest thread in the Mini Shops Suggestions and Assistance forum hiring people to color, write, and generally help run a breedables shop she was going to make. I earned position as head writer for the story(currently not finished, more on that later), and was helping her out, but we both eventually decided we simply didn't have the time for something as involved as this was going to be. So we got together and decided we would auction the art/idea off so someone else can run the shop. 3nodding

Remember -- Right now we are in the pre-auction phase, so things will change! Check back here often for updates!

The Story!

As I mentioned in the first post, I was writing a story for this breedables shop before we decided to sell it. Depending on people's feedback to this interest thread and the auction, I may or may not finish the story. If I do finish the story, I will do 100% and plan out how magic works, what's happening at the current time, etc. This all depends on: how much people like the story so far, how high the highest bidder bids when the auctions ends, and what the final bidder wants. So, here's the story so far.. I know it's a little long, sorry. sweatdrop

Quote:
Welcome to the Kingdom of Inarre. Isolated in a land where humanoid creatures are a miniscule part of the food chain; a land where mythical creatures like phoenixes and abishen exist, and magical forces are well known and abundant, this is one of the only kingdoms with a chiefly humanoid population.

It is the sixth year of the reign of the new 'Reneage' rulers: a collection of nobles who have overthrown the previous royal family, and are now ruling the kingdom in a council fashion. The previous royal family, the Elderan family, had ruled the kingdom since anyone still alive could remember. The Elderans' long lineage had its share of good and bad kings, some nearly leading the kingdom to famine while others made the kingdom prosper under their reign.

One of the infamous kings, King Yerraven, was a rather indifferent and selfish ruler. He much preferred to have feasts of celebration than do anything worth celebrating. Most nobles and the royal family itself usually refuse to talk about Yerraven. Why? He ruled during the first of the Dark Years, and was chiefly responsible for the Black Massacre.

The Dark Years began approximately ninety years ago, in the eighteenth year of the reign of Yerraven. At the time, the kingom was relatively scattered - very few unions existed, and most people went about their daily business simply trying to survive. The nobles of the time were complacent, along with Yerraven, and didn't care much for the "common" folk. In fact, they spent most of their days partying and pretending that the kingdom was doing well, when in reality it was starting to decline.

One of Inarre's few neighbors, far to the south beyond the Gaiden Mountains, was the Belziak kingdom, inhabited chiefly by lizard creatures known as Abishen. It was in Belziak that the dark force was first seen. No one knows where it came from or why, but it was unlike the magic elemental forces of the time in that it seemed to have a mind of its own. In affected, or rather, infected, sentient beings in such a way that it seemed that something intelligent was directing it. For this reason, it was given the name "Melchor."

It did not take long for Melchor to corrupt Belziak. The citizens of Belziak, already passionate creatures, were easily infected. Where once the Merchant Union - one of the very few guilds of the time - had some trouble dealing with the abishen, it was now impossible: the abishen acted insane, randomly murdering merchants and travellers. What little trade that the Inarre kingdom held with Belziak ceased. Despite repeated attempts from the head of the merchant guild, the nobles refused to listen to any talk about any "irrational madness" or "dark force."

Rumors of Melchor slowly spread through the lower classes, however. Whispers of the madness and insanity that had taken hold of the once civilized abishen spread, and people began to grow apprehensive when they noticed the nobles ignoring them.

Despite this rather tense situation, many people went on with their lives as usual. Merchants sold their wares, the king's Royal Guard trained at the palace, blacksmiths made leather bags and other such things.

Then all hell broke loose.

The abishen attacked the kingdom of Inarre. Without warning or provocation, they were there. With claws, and teeth, and anger - violent, rabid, malevolence towards all things living, including their own kind. Survivors who saw the Black Massacre described them as rabid animals, with no trace of intelligence, compassion, or mercy whatsoever.

When they were through, the population of Inarre was decimated, and all of the abishen who came there were dead, usually from their kindred's claws. Even some of the nobles had been killed. Everyone knew why the abishen had attacked, and why they were insane: Melchor. Not even the nobles could ignore this force any more.

Good old King Yerraven somehow managed this, though. He dismissed the attack publicly, saying "those abishen were always a little crazy anyway." How he could ignore the massacre even though his own kindred were killed, no one ever knew. Some say he was infected by Melchor. Others say he was just incredibly stupid. No one really bothered to ask him.

Less than a week after the infamous 'Ignorant Speech' by Yerraven, the kingdom started to change. A king as horrendously incompetent as Yerraven had not existed for centuries. The strain put on the kingdom before the attacks was bad enough, but the kingdom had never been attacked before by a sentient species, and the King's obliviousness made the already strained situation much worse. The common people were on the verge of uprising - even the nobles were whispering of a rebellion.

However, a few nobles realized that there was something much more important than the overthrowing of King Yerraven. Melchor had not stopped in its slow crawl across the land. There were rumors of a dark sky above the Belziak area, plants and trees becoming poisoned, with sickly greens and purples replacing what little plant life there was. Animals were mutated from the inside out: normally peaceful creatures became aggressive to the point of killing and eating their own kind. There were even some sightings of physically mutated animals, their bodies becoming darker in color, tougher, and in some cases, poisonous where they were not before.

These nobles, under the council of several like-minded scholars, devised the very beginnings of the Phoenix Project, and created the first official guild. They reasoned that if dark magic was corrupting their world, then light magic should be able to dispel it. With the help of Jerland, the hermit magic user and famed creator of the telegraph, the nobles gave up their royalty to form the Priest guild.
