Until I'm out of school in the middle of June, I'm not doing anything with this petition because I don't have time for it. Don't see your name on the list? I haven't had a completed update in over a year. Don't freak out over it. When I come back, I'll be looking for more volunteers to finish this massacre that I've started.
The Chatterbox has finally hit an all-time low. I, along with several other close friends that have been on Gaia for many a day, month, and for some, even years, have noticed the Chatterbox slowly deteriorate into the mess that it is today. We remember the times when the CB was not filled with people chained to beds and walls, children stripping and showering with one another, and selling themselves out to strangers on the net because they wanted a "boyfriend" or "girlfriend." We remember when actual conversation took place there, when it wasn't a total disaster area, when most of the topics that were not allowed were dealt with in a timely fashion.
Look at the Chatterbox today. Just click on the little button that teleports you to the CB, and look at the first page. What do you see? "Girls chained to beds, guys come have some fun." "Kiss if cute, slap if ugly, and PM if seeexxyy." "Kiss wh0evr u think iz cute!11one!" And, yes, there are other threads in that raving mass of junk, once you plow through it all and finally come across a thread worth traversing through and posting in.
The Chatterbox's description is "Hungry for gold? Post whatever nonsense you wish here." The CB is filled with nonsense. It's also filled with a lot of threads that, in my opinion, as well as many others' opinions, are not PG-13 material. This is a PG-13 site. Do you think that guys and girls being strapped to tables and walls is PG-13? I know I don't. But the question is, do you?
Remember that old sticky that a mod had in the Chatterbox that listed threads that weren't allowed? What happened to it? Apparently it was taken down because the admins decided it was "Too strict" in what was and wasn't allowed. I think they had it right the first time. I think they should put that sticky back up.
I would like to see the following threads banned from the Chatterbox and Gaia itself:
-Locker/Shower Rooms
-Hot Springs (The ones in the CB, not the ones in Barton Town)
-Girls/Guys chained to *insert object here*
-Girls/Guys in cages, come pick one
-Girls/Guys are slaves, come pick one
-Slap if ugly, Kiss if cute, PM if sexy
Wouldn't you like to go into the Chatterbox and see the page filled with something other than these threads for a change? Then sign this petition, and help us try to turn back time and revamp the Chatterbox to something more than the trash bin it has become.
~Added as an aside (January 29, 2006):
The main goal of this was to have something done about the aforementioned threads, but even if the admin refuse to ban them, perhaps this will at least raise awareness that some sort of action needs to be taken in order for Gaia to keep its PG-13 standing. Perhaps a better form of age restriction so that it isn't the nine and ten year olds on this site that are participating in this? Or some stricter guidelines? There needs to be some sort of action taken, whatever it may be.
1. To sign the petition, post your username or something along the lines of "I sign this petition!"
2. DO NOT PM ME unless you are sending me a banner. I DO NOT accept signatures via PM. Any PM's that are signatures for the petition will be deleted.
3. DO NOT QUOTE POSTS ON THE FIRST PAGE. They will be reported and removed.
4. DO NOT advertise please.
5. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here in the thread.
6. We accept all opinions, whether they conflict with the petition's idea of a cleaned-up CB or not.
***It has come to my attention that somebody reported this petition thread. I do not know who did it and I do not know why. If whoever did this would like to come forward and explain their actions, I would love to hear them.
September 5th - The petition is now over a year old. Thanks for all the support, everyone! The helpers and I are hard at work trying to update the petition so that all signatures are accounted for. The banners have been moved to the second page to save my photobucket's poor bandwidth and cut down on loading time on the first page. If you happen to have your own image hosting account, uploading the banner you are using would really be appreciated, since it will cut my PB account some slack. It is only going to last so long under the strain.

There you have it, folks. Now we just need that sticky back so more people know this.
Here, today, we stand to make a difference. Here and now, we will change the face of Gaia.

Calluna
All of the threads you are describing are already illegal on Gaia. If you see any, report them and they will be deleted.
