Comments: And so begins the end. Little over thirteen hours remain in the contest, and I see signs of some impressive fishing here.
I didn't get the chance to calculate scores lastnight, but I did calculate them the day before.
In that time, a few of these scores have doubled.
Most fishers are low on bait right now, but Pararrayos22 and Crush7 are already out.
Unless Polkaroo79 can pull off about a thousand points in those last five buckets, Pearlystar has Bass'ken in the bag.
Otherwise, Bass'ken is prettymuch set, and most likely the ranks there aren't going to shift anymore.
Gambino has Cronos on top, with Devil Winged Angil about a thousand points behind him. It's safe to say that he'll stay there, as they both have about the same amount of bait left. Other then that, there may be a race for third between Viper9782003 and Drkessler, but the odds in that are in Kessler's favor, as he's got eight more packs of bait. But will he be able to fish them before the end?
Durem. Same deal, different setting. It looks like there's at least going to be a race for fourth between Milkchan and Goalienugget. Those two might even kick it up to the point of getting REMD in there for a three way race for third.
If I didn't know about the bait situation, I'd say that I was pretty sure that both PrettyDragon and Crush7 would end up in a race for first, that would likely take both of them over the 10k point mark. But Crush7 is out of bait.
Pitty. It would've been nice to have two people over that mark for once.

At Freshmeat's request, screencaps will be taken at 10:30pm, PST. This would be 10MST (I think that's the right one?), 11 Central, and midnight EST. Everyone else is on their own. wink Inventories will be posted around half an hour after screencaps start most days.

Rules

1. DO NOT buy, sell or trade anything during this contest!

2. You MUST fish ONLY at the lake you signed up for.

3. IF you catch a rare I WILL transfer it to you.

4. All participants will have a BASIC rod, performance rod and 50 F-grade-bait to use. You MUST catch and have saved a minimum of 720 fish/junk. In the event gaia is glithcy, the minimum requirement will be that you are within one standard deviation of the mean of the other participants. (that means reasonably close to the other participants in common terms, but this method leaves no room for dispute)

5. You will be given one of MY accounts to use during this competition. The passwords will be PMed to each participant before the contest begins.

6. The passwords to each account will be changed at the end of the competition.

7. NO ONE other than the assigned participant is permitted to use MY account.

8. Accounts will be checked during the competition to verify that ALL rules are being followed.

9. ANYONE found violating these rules will be IMMEDIATELY disqualified.

10. Entry fees must be paid prior to being assigned an account. If the fee is not received in a timely manner your spot will be assigned to someone else. If you quit early or are disqualified your entry fee will NOT be returned.

11. If ANY rule is broken you will be disqualified.

12. You ARE allowed to delete and remake your avi's.

13. You are NOT allowed to change gender, name or password!!

14. I WILL be selling ALL fish/junk to Logan - no exceptions.

Rankings are determined by points scored by the participants. Points are the sellback value of the fish caught and 0 pts per junk item. In the event of a tie, those that tie will have their prizes added together and divided evenly amongst them.

Guppies = 3pts each
Bass = 8 pts each
Stripers = 13 pts each

Gambino

Junk = 0 pts each
Seedkin = 7 pts each
Trout = 12 pts each

Prize Fund: The prize fund consists of gold equal to the total points accumulated by the participants AT THAT LAKE.

Bassken entry fee 2000g *will be returned at end of contest*

1st place = entry fee + 40% of prize fund
2nd place = entry fee + 20% of prize fund
3rd place = entry fee + 15% of prize fund
4th place = entry fee + 10% of prize fund
5th place = entry fee

Gambino entry fee 2000g *will be returned at end of contest*

1st place = entry fee + 40% of prize fund
2nd place = entry fee + 20% of prize fund

FAQs

Q: What happens to the gold in the accounts made by posting, lurking, polling etc?
A: That money helps me to buy the bait for the next contest. Normally one or two people will make enough for a couple accounts of bait per lake, but many barely make any gold. I usually get over half the necessary money for bait from this source of income.

Q: Why is the entry fee 2,000g?
A: To cover the performance rod in the event it is traded (which is against the rules)

Q: If a bait is lost due to gaia glitching or not saving, can we buy bait to replace it.
A: No. This is against the rules so DO NOT do it.

Q: Why can't we buy, sell, or trade?
A: To help prevent cheating or stealing from my accounts

Q: How can you tell if we buy, sell or trade?
A: All trades are logged in the bank or the vend. IF ANY name other than transcendent is found on the trade logs you have broken that rule. Screen shots are taken and not necessarily posted to make sure that you have not bought anything (gold decreases between shots) OR sold anything (fish decreases between shots).

Q: Why is there an entry fee if it is only being returned at the end of the contest?
A: I want you to finish. If people pull out it hurts the other competitors.

Q: How can I increase my chances of saving a bucket?
A: Many suggest using single player. THE BIGGEST help I can give is this: Just before you cast for that last fish of a bucket, click onto your gaia navigation window. Go somewhere else on gaia. If it loads correctly, fish for your last fish. If that page loads slowly or not at all - WAIT until gaia is responding like it should again. Even if it takes hours!! So long as you don't close the fishing window the bucket can still be finished, but do not allow your gaia navigation window to be logged off or time out! Not guaranteed - but the best I have so far...

Q: What about when I get an error saying to SAVE NOW or I may lose my bucket?
A: DON'T save it then! Finish fishing all except your last fish. Check that your browser is active (go to your mail or something and make sure it loads) then catch your last fish. This saved me A LOT of buckets in the past. Every time I saved when prompted I lost the bucket.
