-Story- Written by: Torikonero
~Long, long ago in the deep, dark forests of Gaia...
"Meril!" A high pitched voice shouted, followed by the crashing of feet through bramble and leaves. A small, female form made her way as fast as she could through a part of the woods not marked by a path, following a tiny, flitting form just in front of her. "Come back!" She shouted, reaching out her hand, only to catch it on the thorn of a particularly nasty bush.
Instantly, the smaller being flitted back to the girl, light seeming to come from it in concerned waves. "Eh, I'm fine, Meril..." The female said, licking at the small wound. "It would please me kindly if you didn't run off like that again, though!" The small, faerie-like being seemed to nod, drifting over to the girl's shoulder.
"I can't belive you, Meril..." She started to speak again, turning to walk back home. Before she could say anything more, though, a deep hole opened up under her, sending her plumeting into a deep, dark abyss, her screams almost instantly drowned in the utter darkness of it all. Her little companion made a high pitched squealing noise, diving down toward her friend. But the hole closed up, bouncing the little pixy off of the ground, unable to get to her master.
Kanae was surrounded by water; at least, it seemed to be water. Whatever it was, it was thick, and seemed to ooze, even though she was surrounded totally by it. None of the substance flowed into her body, and she felt like she was still breathing air, even though there didn't seem to be any around. She didn't know what was happening, and it was scary.
~Time passes, several hundred years, although Kanae doesn't notice~
Suddenly, her body started to move without her consent. Bones were twisting, muscles moving; she was changing. Something sprouted from the end of her spine, and she cried out, more in suprise than in pain, since she couldn't feel the changing. After a few long, long minutes of this odd transformation, her body seemed to stop, and she knew she had changed into something completely different.
Just then, there was a strong rush of wind from below her, and she was shot up, toward a light. What was happening? She tried to scream, but the only noise that came out of her mouth was a cat-like mrow, and it didn't even sound that scared. What was she now?
Yume Keraun happily walked along a beautiful forest path, marveling at the beauty of the world. She took these walks whenever she could, because they calmed her and made her happy to be alive. Unfortunately, today would be anything but calm.
"Nya!" Kanae's new form shot up above the ground, landing on the earth with a soft plop. She looked around her, wondering where she was, and what she was doing. As her eyes focused, she made out several cat-like creatures around her, all looking dazed and confused. Kanae tried to rise, but her legs were turned around! Suddenly, she realized she had been turned into a four legged beast, and compromised her movement so she could stand.
At that moment, Yume rounded the corner leading to one of her favorite glades. What she saw astounded her, and she gasped, putting a hand to her mouth. All over the glade, cat-like creatures lay, some standing unsteadily, and others refusing to move. She ran toward the nearest one, a female, and gently stroked her head.
"There there..." She said, smiling softly and trying to make her voice as soothing as possible. "You all look so confused, and unstable..." The creature looked up at her, it's tail waving slowly behind it. We are new to this land... A voice spoke, directly into Yume's head. The woman gasped, looking around, and then back at the beast.
"Was that you?" A quick nod from her new companion confirmed her thoughts. "Wow, you are more amazing than I imagined..."
Yume stood, looking around at all of the creatures. "Well, since you are new, you must need homes...I will help you find good Guardians, to help and protect you, and educate you about this world...." She nodded, leaning down to pat the female's head.
