Welcome to the N00b Ignorance Prevention Guild. We are a guild created to not only promote educated discussion, but also to hopefully diminish the 'n00b' factor throughout Gaia. By this, we refer not only to those who frequently use 'chatspeak' and 'txt tlk,' but also those who put no effort into their posts, leaving with nothing more than a two-bit reply to a topic. Though we are not technically a guild centred around improving the state of the Extended Discussion forum, it is generally our main point of focus as, by definition, it is a place "where users can have in-depth discussions and involved debates on specific topics." However, this is very seldom the case today, as one can easily tell by simply reading the list of topics on the first page of the forum. It is for this reason that though we are not officially on an endeavour to reclaim the ED, one will find that most of our energy goes into such.

Inside of the guild itself, we offer a wide variety of discussion, ranging from serious debating to general conversation. Additionally, in the near future we will be host to a number of contests and give-aways including:

• Monthly collectible give-aways
  
• Writing and art contests (with a nifty pot of gold awarded to the winners)
  
• Staff searches. With all of these new additions, we're in desperate need of some good staff members to help moderate our external forum, update the official site, and help make the newsletters.
  
• Promotional opportunities (Looking to advertise a guild or other website? now here's your chance ^_^)
  
• And of course a few secret things that we can't tell you about just yet. wink

We also have set up an external forum that features:

• 30+ forums and subforums for you to post in, ranging from science and technology to arts and literature to entertainment.
  
• Custom member legends. No more will you have to struggle to find out if an administrator is online! Not only are all user groups colour-coded, but we also feature a key under the "members online" list. But wait! We're not done yet! If you hover your mouse over a user in the members online section, their user group will be displayed in the upper right-hand corner of the Board Statistics box!
  
• A full range of discussion topics, from serious debating to casual discussion.
  
• A user online/offline legend. In posts, this displays the user's current online status for you.

Interested in joining? Just send in an application and make sure that you include the following information:

• User name
  
• Mule Accounts: Y/N (If yes, please name it/them)
  
• Date you Joined Gaia
  
• Reasons for Joining the Guild
  
• Forums Frequented
  
• (Optional) What you feel you can add to the guild

If you would like to add any additional information, go right ahead, we certainly won't mind. Just be sure to include all of the above information in your request and you'll be fine.

And finally, there are just a few simple rules that we ask that you follow during your time here:

1. No flaming, racist, overly-derogatory, etc. comments. Admittedly, we aren't much for political correctness, but we still don't want you to go around calling our members niggers, crackers, or anything else along those lines. In the end, it just comes down to where we draw the line with this kind of thing.
   
2. Use proper grammar and English. If English isn't your first language, then please don't go to extraordinary lengths to make your posts flawless--we don't want you killing yourself over it. However, all native English speakers should always have proper grammar and spelling in this guild. We aren't grammar Nazis with this, but we do understand the difference between a simple mistake and simply not putting forth any effort in your posts.
   
3. As always, abide by Gaia's ToS and wot. Admittedly, no one ever reads it, but common sense should tell you what is and is not permissible.
   
4. Just stay active, after all, no one likes a guild whore. All that we ask is that you drop by every so often and leave a few posts so that we know that you actually care about the guild and haven't completely forgotten about it. For future reference, inactive accounts will be banned from the guild without any further explanation. If you feel that you were banned without just cause, contact a guild captain or vice captain about it and we will see if your concern is just.
