Welcome to Bleach: The 14th Squad, Through Hell and Back; a literate RP guild. This is the Second Story Arc of the saga of the 14th Squad. If you wish to join, please send Shidobu Cloud a sample of your role playing ability (at least one paragraph). When you apply, please say something other than "i love bleach, awesome anime." Please make sure to use proper grammar and spelling. My general rule is that if you're too lazy to capitalize your "I"s you are too lazy to roleplay literately. So please make the extra effort and make me see that you actually want to be part of this guild. It is also recommended that you read the "Revolution" announcement in the main forum so that you can understand what happened over the last two years. Your character will be expected to understand what happened in the last RP.

History of the 14th Squad

During the days of the Great Hollow War, Soul Society became in dire need of an organized group of Shinigami to aid in protecting it against ever increasing Hollow invasions. Thus, the Shinigami Academy was founded by Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryusai as well as the Gotei 13, the 13 Protection Squads. Although, in those days they were known as the Gotei 14. The 14th Squad was created to be a strike team against remnant Hollow factions of the Great Hollow War who were attempting to reorganize. They were fierce rivals with the 11th Squad for the title of strongest in Seireitei and went to great lengths to hold that title, even going so far as to require all seated officers to have achieved bankai. The first, and only, captain of the 14th Squad, Ikkimaru Shurajou, was one of the original Captains of the Gotei 13, along with Shunsui Kyoraku and Jushiro Ukitake, and considered a rebel in that he was constantly petitioning for better living conditions for the less fortunate areas of Rukongai and reconciling with the Quincy.

Unfortunately, as he grew more and more ostentatious with his demands for reform, Central 46 grew more and more worried about Ikkimaru and the rest of his squad, who had remained loyal to him throughout every ordeal, would become a problem for Seireitei. Eventually, an order was sent down for their immediate removeal from Soul Society. Though they fought back, the 14th Squad couldn't stand against all of the other 13 squads and were forced into exile in Hueco Mundo where they would remain. Once they were ousted, the Gotei 14 became the Gotei 13 and all record of the renegade squad was destroyed, and it was considered a crime of treason to even mention them ever since.

600 years later the 14th Squad was finally able to plot their revenge...

Present Day

50 years have passed since the power shift in Seireitei and Soul Society as a whole has grown in prosperity with Ikkimaru as the new Commander General. The officers of 14th Squad have taken their places at the head of the squads whose captains were either killed as a result of battle or defected (such as Gin and Tousen), and the 14th Squad itself has been reinstated with former Fourth Seat Mugoi Yuunou as its Captain. But, not all have welcomed to change in regime. Seireitei's noble houses, resenting being stripped of their power, have long been plotting the fall of the newly reformed Gotei 14. There are few who are aware of the denizens who dwell deep within the dark corners of the 2nd Squad Prison Facility, the area only seated officers of 2nd Squad know as the Maggots' Nest. Several of these nobles were in hidden contact with these potential criminals and found a way to release them through use of forbidden kidou and underground channels beneath Soul Society, resulting in a massive prison break of powerful Shinigami. Though Ikkimaru's new regime helped greatly with reducing crime in Rukongai, there are still pockets of lawlessness where members of the fallen Noble Houses run Mafia-like crime organizations. These underground operations are scattered all throughout Rukongai making them very difficult to find and control.

One such group of these criminals are rouge scientists left over from before Urahara's Research and Development Bureau, a group once headed up by Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Before they were cast into the Maggots' Nest, they once attempted to study the native creatures who inhabit Hell. Even to the most educated minds in Soul Society, the realm remains a mystery, a fact which these scientists intend to rectify by opening a gateway to Hell long enough to summon one of these creatures to Soul Society.

Notes on differences between this storyline and the canon plot (the plot that's in the manga/anime):

The story of the Bleach world (as far as Ichigo's story goes) is the same as the canon plot up until Orihime gets taken away to Hueco Mundo. That's where our plot and that plot diverge. Ichigo, Chad, Uryuu, Rukia, and Renji never went to Las Noches to save Orihime. For a better feel of what happened and how Aizen was defeated, please refer to the "Revolution" announcement in the Main Forum.

Now that 50 years have passed things are very different from the canon plot. Ichigo is no longer a part of the story, he died in the time between the end of the First Story Arc and now. Period. His friends are still alive and are actually the same age as they were before thanks to Orihime's power. They probably won't have much going on plot wise but will be there in case we need them.

The Quincy have started to make a come back. Ikkimaru and Seireitei have been trying to repair ties with them and to form an alliance, but the Quincy are hardly a solid organization and many of the members still detest the Shinigami despite their new leadership.

The Vaizards are no longer hunted as outlaws, but are still looked down upon by Ikkimaru for giving in to their inner hollow. I will not be allowing very many Vaizards into this RP because they are supposed to be very rare. I will deal with people who want to have a Vaizard character on a case by case basis. Know that you will probably not be allowed to play a Vaizard unless you have proven to me to be a sound, literate, and responsible role player. I don't mean to play favorites, but that's how it has to be.

The Bounts are still a very rare race and won't be very common in this plot.

*Gasp!* Yes, the Captain of the Twelvth Squad is an Arrancar. That's right, Ikkimaru is a reasonable man who will ally with anyone who pledges loyalty to him.
