The ship from Rescue Run never returned to Earth. It is the pass after the one that F'lar was in. Somehow, Aivas' plan to get rid of the red star didn't work, and Thread still falls on Pern. In the interval between passes, certain people have begun to show psychic abilities, and by the time of this RP, psychic abilities are a well known fact. During the seventh turn of the pass, a strange object is sighted in the sky. It is a spaceship from Earth. The spaceship has been sent to find out why the Pernese colonies haven't made contact with anyone in thousands of years. Unfortunantly, there is a malfunction in the engines. Only a handful of young men and women, who had been raised on the ship, are able to get to the escape pods fast enough to survive. The pods land on Pern, and the story begins.
