Years after the members of the Task Force and the detectives have come and gone, Kira has been whiped from memory.
Criminals roam the street's care-free (Or as care-free as criminals can be, at least), while the police work their hardest to do their jobs and protect the people.
Wammy's House still remains with their outstanding intelligent detectives, and the Task Force remains intact after so many years.
No one, I repeat NO ONE can become one of the main characters from the anime / manga / film. They've all passed away by now, so be original.
