The Black Panthers of Gaia
- Introduction:
I, the maker of this guild, noticed a long time ago that the Black demographic of Gaia was unnervingly low. Either that or they were hiding. But in any case, I often thought of making a guild for Blacks on Gaia to gather and network with each other. There's nothing more lonely than feeling as though you are alone. But you aren't.
As Gaia grew, however, I saw an alarming trend: the newer generations of Gaians were becoming progressively more racist; ignore to the hatred they were spreading. I knew it wasn't their fault though - many people have grown up in socially segregated neighborhoods where the closest contact with someone of another ethnicity was through their TV screens. Actually, I was one of those kids and met very few people who weren't Black or White. I became more determined than ever to make a sanctuary for African Americans on Gaia where they can gather away from hateful words and where other ethnicities could learn the truth about African Americans and Black history, culture, and psychology.
So the Official Black Panthers of Gaia was born...
Purpose
The main purpose of this guild is to provide a sanctuary and social community where Blacks can gather and get to know others of the same ethnicity with similar interests like art, psychology, anime, etc. This is a place where we can discuss our experiences and ideas dealing with what is going on in the Black community today (or what has happened in the past) and other relevant topics dealing with our fellow African Americans in a non-hostile environment.
The second purpose is to educate each other and other ethnicities (yes, you don't have to be Black to join) about our culture and lives. Maybe we can put an end to the growing ignorance on Gaia through respect and enlightenment; that's what I'd hope to accomplish with this guild. We need to learn to love ourselves as a unique and powerful race - that's the only true way to get the rest of the world to love us too.
WARNING: This is a guild about Black people in America and outside of America. Though other races and plights may be discussed, the main topic is BLACKS and all topics must in some way relate to that main one. So if you have a problem with the idea of something not catering to everyone under the sun, DO NOT JOIN & DO NOT PM ME COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. Ok? That means I don't want to hear "Well, Jews had it bad too! Why aren't you talking about them?" or "Native Americans had it worst, stop complaining!" or any of the like. If you wish to discuss this outside the context of African Americans, make your own guild for it.
How to Join!
I won't ask for much. Only thing I want is for you to give a good reason as to why you wish to join. No special requirements (though I'd like more than 3 sentences...if you're sincere, you should be able to stretch it a bit).
~Again, this is open for everyone who has an interest in learning more about the Black culture, history, and community or anyone who wants to discuss it.
~The only real rule here is to not be offensive or disrespectful. Racism will not be tolerated under any circumstance; neither will any other "ism" for that matter! Sometimes we all slip up and that's fine, but don't do it purposely or make it a habit. Though that's the only rule, I urge you to read further into the guild before joining. Be sure to check out the Rules, Guidelines, and the FAQs.
What We Have Here (or will have)
~General Discussion: anything you want to talk about.
~The Black Experience: discussions about our daily live in our communities or about our general interactions with (other) Black people.
~Black Art and Culture: discussions and the sharing of Black arts (visual, dance, music, etc.) and general culture.
~Black Psychology: discussions, debates, and theories about why we act and think the way we do.
~And (maybe) more!
NOTE: Ignore the post count...This is a used guild and as such, certain things just can't be cleared apparently...
