- I like modern for this, or futuristic. Have you ever heard of Shadowrun? It's a dicepool based game that's set in 2072. It's a pretty awesome setting.
- It would say modern, but with futuristic properties, due in part that certain gifted students have the ability to modify technology to beyond what is humanly capable, even for modern day standard, [called and thus this would explain the invisible barrier, and maybe even the floating aspect [although we can also suggest that someone is keeping it up with their mind], restricted and authorized airspace [that's right, Spektral owns the air and land/water below the actual islands, and everything within the area of the size of Rhode Island.],
floating (are we positive about this?) island that's invisible (need a semi-plausible handwave for that)
- single floating island in the middle of several floating islands that surround it. The floating islands are for exploring and can be traveled to either by flying, a flying school bus, teleportation, ((I still support having an airplane hanger-sized teleporter take the students there, either on an aircraft carrier, or BETTER YET in a waterfront warehouse, something with at least 50,000 sq ft. so that massive amounts of people can be transported, and that the doors open only to student's with the right papers.)). or via portals at different points located on the main central island. Portals are available on the ground for students to use to get to the school. Buses can also take them.
- Sounds a bit like "Sky High." I like the idea though. There's likely to be quite a few students who can fly. It would make fun RP for students trying to sneak off campus.

Plot:
may or may not need a plot, if we prefer to go open-ended and detail the setting enough to allow people to explore. otherwise, we need some sort of small arc to kickstart the beginning until people develop their own subplots.
- Possible small plot: vengeful spirits from students and faculty that died violently
- Possibly: A strange ailment has been affecting students and faculty and staff alike. Only a small few seem unaffected. No one has died from the illness yet, but no one's completely recovered from it either.

what races are allowed?
- Perhaps all races are technically the same old human, but because of certain abilities/afflictions and physical differences, they're referred to as mythical creatures [ex: Elves, Demons/Devils, Vampires, etc.]? That way we don't get anyone trying to play immortals. This way, everything becomes a sub-race or category to describe the character's general appearance and abilities instead. Example: Vampires, they have a strong allergy to the sun and/or garlic and heal quickly if they ingest blood. It is assumed that human blood works and tastes the best to them, but animal bloods work as well. It has to be fresh from a living creature.
((Shall we also include martians and zombies into the mix?
That'd be good. Since... Well. They're not immortal and the whole immortal races have the chance for ridiculous god-mod possibilities.
Rules:
ways to curb godmodding?
- have each RPer list two fault their character has in their profile
- List both physical and mental weaknesses/flaws of your characters. [two or more as already suggested] and everyone must be mortal. We can also set up a ranking system similar to one I'd made before. If asked, I can set up an example/explanation of the idea.

- Depends. If we're posting the profiles on the same thread as the IC RP, Liz should since she's handling profiles. If not, Liz can make an RPC thread and I or Cuwen or someone can handle the IC thread.

- I like the idea of separate profile, IC, OOC threads. If we do the profile thread here, we crew members and vice captains can maintain the profiles in case one of us doesn't have time to take care of it. The top posts of the IC thread and the OOC threads won't need as much maintenance though, so we won't have to worry about it as much.

Final Product
INTRODUCTION
Welcome students to Spektral Academy for the Gifted. We are glad to have you and hope your stay here proves satisfactory. Here on the islands, you will be expected to live and learn accordingly. Please follow all our school rules and DO NOT under any circumstances wander off into The Forest. Instead, there are many other places on campus for students to visit. Besides the Academic District, the Remang Islands are host to a full community of welcoming natives. During your stay here there will be regular visits during free hours during the week for students to visit the local towns for shopping, fun and time away from their studies. For these tips students will ride a bus down with a chaperone and a map detailing the parts of the town they may travel. Please follow the maps accordingly as it is most respectful to the locals.
SETTING
Spektral is located on the main island of the Remang Islands, a group of floating islands positioned above the Pacific Ocean. It is a majestic campus that spreads across much of the biggest island. The campus is divided into Four Divisions: The High School, College, Administrative and Residential. Outside the campus walls is a small local village called Tiir'den. Under a faculty chaperon, students are permitted to visit this and a few other villages on the surrounding islands. Though there are a few exceptions.
PLOT
Currently at Spektral, you'll find the students hard at work, going through the middle of their school year. Life is calm and uneventful so feel free to enjoy the peace, make new friends, catch up with old ones and for Gods sake, do your homework!

- IC Rules
- No Pets; Fish, turtles and seeing-eye-dogs are allowed under the following restrictions.
- Fishtanks may be no bigger than 10 gallons, no birds, hamsters, or other avians/furry critters. Dangerous animals such as snakes are also not allowed. Keep your pets in their homes and do not lose them. If a pet is found roaming around the campus and causing trouble in other people's rooms or class rooms, it will be released into the forest or sent back home to your family.
If traveling off campus, all students must have at least one other student with them at all times and a designated Chaperon.
- Designated Chaperons are limited to Faculty, Staff, Teachers and designated College Juniors and Seniors.
Only Teachers, Faculty, Staff and a select designated number of students may travel outside the campus without a chaperon.
In the High School dorms, boys may not be within the girls dorms between the hours of 10:00pm and 10:00am.
All High School Students must be returned to their dorms by midnight and lights out is one hour later. Ignorance does not excuse tardiness.
College students may not be on the High School campus during School Hours and may not bring alcohol or tobacco products into the High School Division nor to the High School dorms. If any students are caught smoking or drinking in, at, near or around these areas they will be given a warning. Second offenses result in suspension from classes and possibly the campus, third offenses may result in expulsion.
Illegal substances are expressly forbidden. Anyone caught with or in the presence of such substances will be at the mercy of the Headmaster, the Matron and the Disciplinary Faculty
