Office moment
Coworker: ...I bet AD'd know.
Me: Know what?
Coworker: What a word means. What's 'managhee'?
Me: *dumbfounded*
Coworker #2: He means 'menagerie.'
Me: Oh. A collection of things, usually animals.
Coworker: See?! Damn it!
Me: If if makes you feel any better, you had me completely stumped with 'managhee.'

Shiro - I was under the impression that this wouldn't help matters. Regardless of the compression, MP3 are still a "lossy" file type; converting them to OGG won't restore what's already been lost. That's why MP3s, no matter their bitrate, don't ever sound as good as original CDs.

A.D. :: well, I've been tweaking with my many audio utilities and playing around with different files.... now, I've managed to find a way to restore the lost audio in lossy files....well, it's more of a mixing technique, once you know which instruments, and which equipment the original recordings used.

in simple terms, create an emulation of all the instruments used in a certain recording as closely to the original, then mix it all into the original file (once it's decompressed) making sure of the tempo and rythm to remain true, then recompress to your desired compression format....

... and yes, that's the SIMPLE terms.... just be thankful I spared you and everyone else from the geek-talk that could ensue -__-;

I want that shirt. xD As well as one that says "ANGST". Another shirt some friends and I have joked about is one that says, "I'm the straight friend" or something like that.

In other news, I hate Elmo. Remember, I work Toys. The new, stupid, Tickle-Me-Elmo? We were out within an hour or so of getting them. Since, we've gotten call after call. Today, we finally got in a measly 12. We tried to hide them in the back because they're not supposed to be sold until Oct. 1st for a special.

Nine were stolen. stressed

Wth? It's an Elmo. Geez. gonk xd

Umm. No excuse besides a whole week of crappy sleeping, but I felt I needed to post something, relevant or not. xD;

I almost took a pair of scissors in the eye today. o__o

And tomorrow, er, todaywhatever, I'm going to SF again for the "Lovefest" dj parade. Ready your eyes for some interesting pictures, kids. rofl

I'll reply more later, sorry. *w *;;

Shiro - Ok. You'll have to forgive me, but that's completely insane. I can't imagine using that method to restore ALL of my lossy audio files; it would just be easier to dl them again. Besides, I don't know what instruments were originally used, since 90% of my MP3s were never heard in any other format.

QA - xd ! I want an "I'm the straight friend" shirt, too!

I saw that on the news! Isn't this one something like Super Elmo....Mach...X5? And it pretty much laughs, twitches and has seizures? How did nine get stolen already?!

Koji - You near anything called "lovefest" has me worried from the outset. Take some Mace!

A.D. :: xd I never did mention it was an easy or "normal" way of doing such things... I'm just that much of a maniac with my music at times xd (besides, there ARE periods of time in which I leave gaia for months, right? ... I don't leave gaia, I leave ALL of the web, thus no web-capabilitiers = drives me to do those things) ...

as for the recording instruments and the like, some guitar mags often show which instruments were played, and with which devices implemented... which is where I then run the emulations I own, and.... -__-; play the actual piece for comparison.

it's only WHEN I can, or IF I can, that I download OGG's without having to re-convert mp3's to OGG.

Tenkou :: O___O!!! s**t... you mean to tell us that the Elmos are the babies' brand of Ipods but only in lesser quantities? but I like the bouncy tigger better! gonk

Koji :: gonk TAKE PICTURES AND SHT! DX and if you can, ask the DJ's for how much would the recorded tracks be...see if you can score a few demo's as well! whee

Well, the parents said I could buy a new tablet if I felt like it. D;

But I don't really want to yet. I'm going to see if a friend can fix it in November. I'm almost dead sure it's a USB cable problem, since the laptop won't detect the device and says it's something to do with the USB, and whenever I twist it,sometimes it'll come back to life.

Poor thing, I just don't want to let it die off peacefully. @ @;

on another note, I think I swallowed some febreze when I was cleaning the room. > x <;

It's kind of scary that I haven't seen a hospital around here so far. And only one gas station. NYC is so strange. : >

*is scared by shiro* @ w@;;;

nyome: gonk i've heard of people using loads of duct tape to fix USB cord problems. ; 3;

Yuhh, Shiro scares me too. ; x; *averts eyes*

@Axel---- I tried that,I did! : (

I thought I triumphed, but as soon as I let go the light in the center went dead. It needs to be twisted in different ways every few minutes or it needs heavy pressure in a corner or SOMETHING. > <;

I think it's just something inside. probably just a poor connection, but no repair places around here. : / just a lot of grocery stores.

NYC ~~ come visit? ; D

No hospitals that I know of. The whole baby-in-a-taxi thing doesn't surprise me anymore.

Ugh. My mouth tastes all frebrezey and disinfected and ick. > <

Axel & Nyome :: gonk exclaim how come when Nyo changes she's ok, but when I do, it's not? at least it's not as disturbing as my siggy! xd (and I'm doing this only because I know for a fact that phillis hates the squid set ;D)

Let me summarize to save everyone the greif:

- Ravers in daylight = WTH ew.
- Jesus loves house music.
- Do not try and dance in a crowd with a busted foot.
- When your retnas take emotional damage, erase all pictures.
- My eyes have been completely desensitized.
Let's make it a math problem.

Take 1 guy who was lonely in high school. Subtract. Then add to a liberal city. Add 30 years, a straw hat, and some roller skates. Subtract clothing.

burning_eyes

And that was just the first of many. And it was cold that day. gonk

- Shells can be sneaky, and hide in sand regularly just to cut up your feet.
- Anemones are foul, seductive creatures. They'll eat your sticks.
- Always ask yourself if it's okay to sing, "We are Lesbiannes" at the bustops before you scare away bystanders.
- 18 and up laws are LAME.

Thasit. I hope you've all learned something. xd

Shiro - You have entirely too much free time, do you know that?

Nyome - Ah, a faulty USB cable would explain things. November is a long time to wait, though.

How can NYC not have a hospital?! Do New Yorkers not get sick?

You look hot, btw. heart

axel - I know I'm among friends when someone suggests duct tape as a reasonable solution to any problem. xd

Koji - I think we can all benefit from the wisdom gained by your highly unusual life. For example, I did not realize that ravers could survive in direct sunlight.

I am too lazy to read through to check out what I've missed. Especially as I have an hour of sweet sweet freedom, and then I return to Homework Lockdown.

I am on a Indie-boy high. There's this little coffee shop by my house with an open-mic night and I went. The sheer amount of concentrated boypretty was very killed me. ^^

And having friends who can drive makes me feel oddly powerful. Yay for cutting an hour of travel time and being smushed into stinky nerds on the bus! biggrin

Laichu~ Your turn to take pictures, man. D:<
I totally know how you feel. Friends with cars are so easily manipulated lovely. :'D

Shiro~ ...you're kinda gross. gonk Atleast I'm being tasteful with my tail. I'M A MEWTWO. >D heart
