Abandoned Dreams Must share hilariously awesome news that made me proud to be a Gaian (though not because I agree with the admins). Someone at Gaia posted a link to a leak of the new HP book. Scholastic found out and demanded that it be removed and subpoenaed Gaia for the user's information. Gaia complied. The user was banned for 14 days (roflcopter). Gaia is mentioned by Time.com, among others. http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1637886_1637891_1644751,00.html I don't know why this makes me laugh so hard. HP was leaked...not on Facebook, not on MySpace, not on a thousand other well-known sites, but on good ol' Gaia, where n00bz think they're safe from the wrath of Rowling's guard dogs. Heh. n00bz. Oh, and HI, SETH!
xd the username of the kid is "a**l Jesus" ... go figure. rofl
also, since you so LOATHE it when Gaia gets a layout change without your consent, I'd thought you all should know: WE'RE GETTING YET ANOTHER LAYOUT!
and the Gaia logo will also change.
links are provided...GO POST YOUR OPINIONS DAMMIT! scream exclaim

You know what drives me crazy now? This whole "being fat can be glamorous!" movement. The ********? It's one thing to be chubby; it's another to be twice your healthy bodyweight and insist that there's "more to love." There isn't more to love, unless you happen to love diabetes, high blood pressure and poor circulation. Tch.
Akahoshi - xd !! You yell "crucio" at him?! Brilliant. heart
jenna - Nice to know you thought of me at 5am. xd We'll figure something out for next time.
What idiots in suits...?
I don't watch anything related to HP, including actor interviews. I just want the whole thing to be over.
Deuxia - I heard GameFAQs was going down, but I didn't know why! Unbelievable. The whole thing is out of hand. Scholastic needs to pry its head out of its a** and realize that everyone who was going to order the book already has, and a leaked copy isn't going to make any difference.
Memai - You bribed them with shinies? s**t, I'll have to try that with Stanford.
He's SO POINTY! Some of my friends are into that, but I just find it somewhat dangerous. Like "Dude, you're gonna poke an eye out with those cheekbones."
Shiro - Far be it from me to conform, but I actually like the new layout. o.O It's very...solid. Less girly, I think. Besides, as long as I can access GASOC, they can do whatever the hell they want. That's how little I care about the rest of Gaia anymore.

Darkish - Poor baby! gonk I had that surgery years ago, and it's not fun. Eat lots of jello, I guess.
Harry Potter, like Paris Hilton, is not news.
jenna - OH! The mascots! I thought you meant business suits, and was hella confused. Anyway, NO, you don't want to be a mascot. The temperature inside one of those things is easily 10-15 degrees higher than it is outside. You can't take it off in public, even if you throw up or are about to faint. Teenagers throw drinks, food, and whatever else they feel like at you. And in the end, you're only being paid about $8 an hour. Not worth it, IMHO.
Memai - "Mr. Radcliffe, it has come to our attention that your cheekbones represent a threat to others' safety. From this day forward, you will be made to wear a cheekbone cushion so as to lessen the risk of mutilation or death in others."
I understand the fangirling, but that doesn't mean I agree with it. I've considered writing a "Why Harry Potter Is So Popular, and Why It Could Have Been Any Other Story" rant, but I keep getting lazy. But here's a lovely summary/snark of the last book, which is A) sadly accurate, as far as I can tell; and B) hilarious.
Summary excerpt (spoiler) Page 56: Hedwig bites it as the Death Eaters attack. Still, we'll have all those great memories of Hedwig. Like the time Hedwig delivered a package. Or the other time Hedwig delivered a package.
EDIT: D'oh. A link might help, AD. http://mightygodking.livejournal.com/345287.html#cutid1
