Weasel's Plight

[Feces Underpants]

He found some nice fresh material piled up near a brush. He picked up two paw fulls and brought it over to Basil, he then lathered Basil's body up with it. He made sure to cover his entire body working in long paw strokes , soon it was thickly spread all over Basil. Randu soon caught a whiff of it and he wrinked his nose in disgust. It was enough to disguise any odor underneath. Still, Basil had not moved, was he even breathing? Randu gave Basil a couple slaps in the face, in hopes it would rouse the lifeless rabbit.

After being battered with the worlds most nauseating hodge-podge of medicinal herbs, and a rousing slapping, Basil sputters and slowly opens his eyes. The sight of a pole-cat with a wrinkled nose and hands at the ready, made him quickly jump to his feet!
"What! What?!? I say, what is going on here?!?"
Admittedly, he was a bit taken back by the resourcefulness of the weasel, but he had his honor and pride to maintain.
"You are a craft one, we should return to a safe place to dress this wound proper. Is there anything left of our fallen comrade?"

He was dumbfounded as to why Basil was so concerned about the dead corpse. He shrugged " I dunno, just some bones, maybe some edible flesh. I am am a bit hungry." He stomach gurgled as he said this, he looked back at the tattered remains with ravenous eyes.

"Very well... It was a futile effort. Have your meal, it would be a shame to let you die now!"

He turned away and sat down while the ferret had his meal. He had wondered how his former war chum wound up like this. He also thought it strange that a weasel helped him. These were trying questions for the old wounded hare.

"Done yet?"

Randu didn't even begin to tear into the flesh and meaty insides. He stared at Basil. The rabbit's tone and body posture nagged at him telling him that eating the body was wrong.. even biting into the meal , was wrong. He quickly backed away. The furs on his neck stood on edge. Did the rabbit cast some spell on him? Were there some powerful forces at work within the dead corpse? He had never felt this way before. What curse was layed upon him! Randu let out a gut wrenching yell " AAHHH!!!" He did not like it one bit.

What is the problem?!? We must go! That damn bird could be back! I should really get going...

Randu shook himself. " Alright." He bounded away, then looked back. He had forgotten that Basil was still hurt.

Ack! After all that! You're just leaving me? What, what!?! Typical weasel! Basil was a bit confused at this erratic behavior, but then, it was a weasel he was with. Very well, I shall be going as well. He took a few steps then collapsed. He was in more pain than he ever felt. His legs didn't want to move, but his mind had to keep going.

He skidded to a halt then turned back. Basil seemed to be in agony on the ground. " We at least need to move ourselves under some cover. Can you brace yourself up on my back , I'll assist you." Trying not to harm the rabbit's obvious pride. Randu was alarmingly aware the Basil was much larger and heavier than himself, he was unsure how he would manage such a feat, but he had to try..

You are brave in carrying a decorated officer, weasel. I commend you for your efforts... My den is just over there. He points to an old Maple tree that touched the heavens and looked down mockingly onto the earth. Then, he passed out.

He viewed the earthy tunnel just up ahead. Basil callasped into a heap, unconcious. "Ah!" Randu exclaimed. This complicates things. He grabbed Basil's scruff his mouth and heaved. Dissapointedly, Basil's comatose body only slid a fraction. Randu tried again, and again, they moved little by little. His legs and back began to burn with the effort but he pressed on. Then, Basil's body snagged on a tree branch , causing Randu to loose momentum and balance. He tumbled backward, end over end.

It was a warm day. In fact it had been warm for quite a while now. The land was dusty from drought and the earth spit and sputtered filth and dead soil. As the crestfallen weasel dragged the limp hare, a lone badger sat watching the feat in progress.

"..."

He actually thought he might pull it off, then he tumbled down.

"..."

He regained his footing , then stood cursing his luck.
He then caught whiff of a musky odor not unlike his own but also different.. the scent wasn't too far

The badger had been sitting there for quite a while, but hell, he was comfortable now. He watched the weasel regain his composure and try again. He then saw him whiff the air. Perhaps he had noticed the smell? He didn't care. He could handle a weasel if he had to. Silently, the badger readied his blow gun...

Was the scent of enemy or not? Curiosity won over and Randu hoped whoever shared the similar musky aroma as himself, could help him with Basil. He moved in the direction of the scent..
