Mariah was able toblock this time. "You'll have to up your game if you want to beat me boy." Mariah created a puddle at her feet and raised her hands, causing water to wash over Niko. Her intentions were to wash him away from her at a distance and to freeze him in stone hard ice. Though she felt her powers weaken again from the trick before, ice would be hard and probably wouldn't happen.
Irene focused hard on that feeling she felt faintly. 'I have to focus, who knows what good could come to this. I have to let out this feeling... I ony wish I knew what it was.' Once in a while there was a small spark of blue tainted white light escapng from her fingers. Though at times she was worried about Bana, Niko and Yuki. They were all risking their lives and for what? Because of her? Guilt clouded her mind, but she knew n matter what that good feeling had to prevail. It was just so hard.
The old man smiled. There was no doubt his energy was getting weak. His energy worked just like Irene's, and was nearly identical to Irene's, but more advanced. But he was old, and the end was near. "I'll try Yuki." He continued to fight. The bandits slashed ruthlessly at the old man, but tried not to harm Yuki due to commands. Four bandits this time ried to get a hold of her, and one was more muscular than the one they first ecountered.

"So will you!" Niko said, whispering a soft spell under his breath and vanishing, reappearing behind Mariah. He regained his balance quickly, lashing out with his staff again, not wanting to try anything more incase he drew blood. That was the last thing anyone needed, was Shadow out in full force.
Yuki was losing her patience. "They just don't give up, do they?" When the other bandit tried grabbing her, she lost her temper and whirled around, slamming her palm into his chest and blasting him full of energy enough to knock him right through a tree further off, and the tree toppled, falling on top of two unlucky bandits. Not the smartest thing to do, considering that had drained alot of energy, but she was out of patience with this lot. |

Niko could only watch helpless as Bana suddenly switched sides, fighting for Mariah. Even when they had first met, her childlike innocent had surprised and overjoyed him. Now Mariah was stealing that innocence away, turning Bana into a killing machine. Niko's hand clenched into a fist, energy swirling around him. He was angry, more angry than he had been in a long time. Something shifted inside him, the constant flow of energy reversing itself.
"I'm not going to let you get away with this!" In his anger he didn't realize as his own judgement became slightly clouded, the anger changing his energy to grey and his eyes to red. It was as if a portion of Shadows energy had slipped into Niko's accidentally, bringing him close to transforming even without the blood. Niko vanished from where he stood, reappearing behind Mariah and lashing out multiple times with his staff, his weapon a blur as he darted from spot to spot around her, never staying the same for more than half a second.
Yuki looked up in surprise. "No, old man!" She ran to him, kneeling beside him. "Hold on, I know healing, don't die on me," She gasped. There was only so much healing could do, and she wasn't strong enough to bring back someone this badly injured, but she had to try for Irene. |
