[RP] The 'Verse (Accepting profiles)

"Neither do I. But my mouth tastes and feels like I spent half of last night licking the inside of my boots." Jas agreed, wrapping her arms around Aria after a moment of indecision.

Where had her pants ended up and why wasn't she wearing them? The last thing she remembered about the previous night was...asking Aria to share a glass of brandy with her. From her vantage point she could see the bottle and it didn't look much emptier than what she remembered it should be. That didn't mean too much, though. Pale eyes scanned the room before Jas spotted the crumpled pair of pants at the foot of the bed.

"Found them." she murmured, but didn't make a motion to retrieve them. Yet.

Aria gave a soft laugh and reached a hand out from under the blanket to put it on top of Jas'. "That's good." Well sort of. It would have been more fun to watch Jas try to get to her own quarters without them. But probably better for her bruised dignity at the moment that she had found them.

"You know, you're the only person to share this bed with me." Aria said this thoughtfully. When she had first joined the crew it would not have been much of a problem if she had brought someone back for a bit of play. But as they'd grown closer, it had never seemed right. Aria rarely chose whom she slept with outside of saying yes or no to taking a booking from a client. Her fingers lightly traced a pale scar on the back of Jas' hand as she looked at nothing in particular across the room.

Jas stiffened slightly and prepared herself mentally to snatch her pants and make a dash for it if Aria indicated that her statement was a bad thing. But the companion didn't, and so the tall blonde relaxed slightly. Closing her eyes, she ducked her head so it was sheltered in the curve of Aria's neck and shoulder from the lights.

"No...I didn't." The captain mumbled. "I try to stay out of your business. You deserve your privacy. And...well...whatever I did last night. And this. I shouldn't even be--," she paused and sighed, "--But..."

"It's been... a long time since I would have even considered it. Jas, what happened last night, if I hadn't wanted it to it would not have." Her nickname, again. "And I respect you too much to..." A little inhale of breath and Aria shifted her gears just a bit. "There hasn't been anyone else I have wanted to share it with."

Her fingers still stroked that scar on the back of Jas' hand and this time her eyes were very fixedly not looking at anything. Especially not Jas. She didn't realize she was holding her breath after saying all this, but she was.

"Thank you." Jas murmured. She paused and considered the next words that were about to come out of her mouth. "But--"

Before Jas could continue sounding like a two-stroke engine, a loud banging on Aria's door made her wince. There was a slight pause then the banging continued for a moment.

"Cap, Aria, breakfast's on the table and there's coffee if you want some. Hot water too if you're lookin' for tea. I'm gunna go make sure the doc's still breathing. She got kinda drunk last night. Don't forget to put clothes on." Jaden's voice called, slightly muffled by the door before the faint sounds of hir footsteps could be heard walking down the hall.

"Sometimes...I could just kill Jaden." Jas groaned after a few seconds passed.

Unfortunately for Aria, she wasn't entirely immune to the amount of alcohol she'd had the night before either, cringing at the sound of Jaden's loud knocking on the door. She made a grumbling sound and closed her eyes until Jaden left. Twisting her head a little, she kissed the top of Jas' head and stood up, shedding blankets and the captain's shirt.

"Want your pants?" Aria looked back over her shoulder at Jas.



Fayra was still sleeping when Jaden pounded on Aria's door. Alive and, as yet, blissfully unaware of the status of her head.

Jas opted to keep her eyes closed while the companion stood up and after. She had heard the hiss and rustle of fabric when Aria had shed the blankets and her shirt, and - despite having already seen what there was to see for the most part - had decided that not looking was the best route to take. At least, not until Aria finished getting dressed.

"Please?" The tall blonde said, still blushing faintly.



Jaden waited a minute after pounding on Fayra's door before pounding again. This time, ze did it with a pair of cast steel brass-knuckles and with enough force to almost dent the door.

"Hey, doc! You alive in there? Breakfast's up. So's coffee and hot water for tea. Doc?" Ze called loudly.

Aria chuckled lightly, noting that Jas was keeping her eyes closed. She picked up her pants and tossed them over toward the captain before addressing some clothes of her own. Despite Jas' restraint, Aria showed none of the same herself, grey eyes dancing over Jas where she sat on the bed still.

With a smile still on her lips, Aria slid into a pants and tank top. "You're safe, now." She turned around so that Jas could have a little privacy, I was just a coincidence that she was brushing her hair facing a mirror.



It was quiet inside Fayra's room for just a few seconds before Jaden could hear a loud string of cussing in chinese and the door opened. Fayra threw a pillow up toward the muscle and stomped back to attempt to bury her head under the blankets.

With her eyes closed, Jas couldn't see the pair of pants flying at her. That didn't stop her from finding them once they hit her. The tall blonde straightened them out and reoriented them properly; blind and working from experience. A bit of subtle groping amongst the blankets found her shirt, which she shrugged into just after Aria announced that it was safe to open her eyes.

"I wouldn't bet on it." The captain muttered quietly under her breath as she warily opened her eyes.

Aria was indeed dressed, which was definitely good. Jas had never been good at doing up buttons without being able to see them. Oh, she could get them undone just fine without looking, but not get them done up. It took a bit longer than normal and she was looking more than a bit rumpled, but Jas managed to get dressed fairly quickly. Once dressed, she shoved her feet back into her boots and crossed to stand behind Aria. Gently, the tall blonde took the brush from the companion's hand and began carefully helping.



Jaden caught the pillow inches before it would have hit hir face. Ze turned it over and contemplated it briefly (It was a pillow. It smelled nice.) before letting it drop back into Fayra's room.

"I guess that means you're alive doc. Water and painkillers later?" Ze called down into the room while repocketing the brass knuckles.

The companion cast a smile in the direction of Jas' reflection in the mirror when she came to help with her hair. Sometimes she thought it might be nice to braid her hair up like that and let it be but she didn't think it would suit her.

"Thank you."

It didn't take too long, Aria's hair was more easily tamed than Jas had ever been. She turned around and fixed Jas' collar, and gave up on some of the wrinkles after a few tries.

"You look thoroughly disreputable."



If the sound was any way of judging, there may have been a zombie in Fayra's quarters as she made some sort of response. That probably meant yes to the coffee and the painkillers. Or that she needed to have her brain removed to get rid of the threat of infection.

In her room, Fayra sat back down on her bed, wondering if she had taken her pants off or if Jaden had when putting her to bed. Probably herself, why were the lights so bright? Why did she feel like her brain was on fire? What was in that moonshine?

"It goes with captaining a Firefly." Jas said with a self-depreciating smile.

Then, before Aria could fully pull her hands away from the tall blonde, Jas caught her hand and pressed a brief kiss to the back of her knuckles. Jas' next smile was more wry and pained than anything else.

"Shall we?"



Jaden contemplated Fayra's response. Ze wasn't entirely sure what the noise meant, but it would perhaps be best if ze closed the door. And so, ze did before wandering back down the hall to the kitchen where Jin-Li was perched with feet swinging back and forth on a counter. The tiny mechanic had a mug of coffee cradled between her hands and she was happily drinking from it, singing a nonsense song to herself. Beside her sat two mugs, one full and one half empty.

"You made the second pot, meimei?" Jaden asked as ze picked up the half empty mug and took a long drink from it.

Jin-Li's reply was a vigorous nod and a grin before she continued singing to herself.

After sliding her feet into slippers, Aria nodded and stepped out into the hallway beside Jas.

"Well, Jaswinder, will you be joining us for breakfast and coffee or are you retreating to the deck to make sure we don't hit a moon?" Now that they were no longer in her room, Aria called Jas by her full name again She looked over at her, intentionally brushing the taller woman's hand with her own but not taking it. She might attempt to get Jas drunk and seduce her, but she could still respect her position on the ship most of the time. At least as much as she ever had.

They had just passed Fayra's door when it clanged open and the medic's dark head of hair emerged. Slowly. She had a hair tie in her hands, curly hair a bit wild even for it's nature. It was only mildly better when she pulled it into a tail. Fayra was squinting in the lighting on the hallway, one ear of her glasses in her mouth while she get her hair out of her eyes. Judging by her mildly green color, she'd seen better mornings.

"Jaden said something about coffee?"

"I think I'll stay for the first couple of glasses of water. There's no point in trying to keep us from finding a moon the hard way if I've got a headache this bad. I think I'd be rather tempted to crash us into it." Jas mused as she tugged absently at the cuff of a sleeve in the hopes of getting some of the wrinkles out.

Instead, she ended up deciding to roll up her sleeves to the elbows. Might as well go with the disreputable look, and it would give her a good excuse to ignore the brush of her hand against Aria's. Particularly since a split second later, Fayra joined them - partially - in the hall. The tall blonde arched an eyebrow at the doctor and just barely managed to avoid smiling or smirking at her appearance.

"Good morning, Doctor Gardiner. Rough morning?" She said pleasantly before nodding slightly. "I think ze did. I'm not sure since my ears and head were still ringing from hir knock."

"Did ze beat on the door with something metallic?" Fayra didn't really appreciate her alarm call that morning. One hand rubbed at her eyes before she put her glasses on and looked at Jas and Aria properly. And blushed just a tiny bit for no reason.

"Good morning, Fayra," Aria said pleasantly enough. "Make sure you have some water too. It'll help with the headache too."

"Um.. yeah. Thanks," Fayra smiled a little but it looked more like a wince. "I don't think I'll be partaking of anymore of that moonshine. Ever."

Aria laughed softly and lead the way toward the common room. She didn't think it likely Fayra would bypass her and the captain in the hallway, might as well get all of them closer to breakfast.

"Good morning Jaden. Jin-li," Aria smiled at the both of them, "Did you both sleep well?"

"No, but I wouldn't put it past Jaden to do that if ze thought we weren't already up." Jas said with a sympathetic smile that faded into a confused look at the doctor's blush. She was fairly sure that she and Aria hadn't done anything the previous night other than talk and drink, so why the blush? "The moonshine's fine if you watch how much you drink of it. And remember to drink at least twice as much water before bed."

As she spoke, Jas followed Aria into the eating area. At the sound of their voices, Jin-Li half dropped, half placed her mug on the counter with a clatter and practically leapt off of it. A moment later she was pounding up to give hugs, first to Aria then to Jas, and an unsure wave to Fayra.

"G'mornin'." Jaden drawled, raising hir mug in greeting to the trio. "I suspect we slept better than the doc and cap. Hell, cap, did drinking and strip poker with Aria go that late?"
