	Irene gasped and held up a wall of ice, blocking Bana's attack again. But she still had so little energy, how would she ever help Bana now? The charm, there's no way to stop it but death. Irene refused to kill Bana, there had to be another way. "Bana, you have to be in there. Please listen, what you're doing is wrong." Mariah blocked most of the attacks, but as predicted her magic gave out on her and she was hit hard by the last few. There was no blood, her healing went out by itself without her permission. "Just as I thought. The necklace I was tricked with before, it's causing my powers to fail me." Mariah looked down at the necklace and smiled. "But as long as I have this... You better not attack me anymore Niko, or I'll break this and her magic will go haywire! Not to mention, my bandits have taken care of the old man. When this necklace goes, Irene will surely die." The old man coughed, some blood coming from his mouth as he spoke softly. "It's quite all right child. After what I've done to Irene, it's all I deserve. I knew... That this would happen one day." The old man breathed deeply as he struggled the words out. "Yuki, don't forget what I asked you... When I go..." ((Yes ladies and gentlemen, Merlin is going to die. Sad to say, but true.))

	Bana paused as looked at Irene. "Its wrong? But arn't you having fun with this game?" Bana asked as the truth of the subject seemed to be out of grasp. 'It dosnt seem wrong...it's just some fun isn't it? Oh ya, supposed to be fighting. Mariah said to fight Irene' Bana looked at her scythe then Irene debating what should do next then lunged at Irene.

	Irene dodged this time without using magic. 'Oh no, the charm is getting worse! It won't be long now until she's as evil as Mariah! Or maybe even as evil as Shadow.' Irene thought about that feeling again, even though she didn't feel it. 'I just wish I knew what that feeling was called! If I knew what it was, maybe I could use it to help Bana! Mariah's power of darkness started it, it's only logical the power of light will stop it.' "Bana, no! It's not fun. It may be fun for you, but it's because of the spell Mariah has you in! She wants to use you Bana, don't give into it!"

	Bana stopped and looked at Irene. "Not. Fun?" Bana looked over at Mariah and Niko. "But their playing...Why would they be doing it if its not fun?" Bana took a step back as shook head. 'Not fun? Wrong? Then why am I doing it? Why are they doing it? Why would everyone be doing whats wrong and not fun?' Bana shook head as started to get a headake and slightly dizzy while trying to answer the questions yet unable to.

	Mariah smiled at Niko, still threatening him with the necklace. "Don't listen to her Bana. She's lying, it's all part of the game. This IS fun. So go ahead, play a bit more. Maybe Irene just needs a little motivation to get into the playing spirit." The necklace glowed red, and sodid Irene's eyes. She screamed in pain as she tried to resist shooting a fireball at Bana but of course missing her. Mariah laughed. "You see Niko, when I hold this necklace... I hold Irene's life."

	Bana stood up straight as the fireball wizzed past her head and looked to where it went then back at Irene surprised. "So, you do play this game." Bana said as smiled innocently and regripped her scythe charging at Irene again this time keeping low towards the ground slashing at Irenes feet

	Irene jumped up in the air to avoid the hit. The scythe was really dangerous. 'That's it! What if I take te scythe? Bana couldn't fight, and I wouldn't have to either!' When Irene got to the ground she dove for Bana's scythe.

	Bana stummbled backwards not expecting Irene to come at her like that. 'uhoh, Mommy would be angry if she saw this.' Bana gripped the scythe and held it up to block thinking Irene was going after her instead of the scythe.

	Irene grabbed hold of the scythe and tried to pull it away. She hoped that whatever Mariah and Niko was doing, Niko would be okay. At the same time, her worry over Bana's innocence grew. The charm was just so dark, even Irene couldn't fight it if she was caught with it.

	Bana’s grip slipped and the scythe no longer being held by someone of Bana’s family turned back into a bracelet. “Ahh! My mommy gave me that, give it back!” Bana pleaded as reached for it back.

	Niko stopped attacking, eyes wide. THe red slipped back into grey. No, he couldn't risk her destroying the necklace and harming Irene. But wasn't that necklace what she wanted? And if the old man died... He had to try, he wasn't about to stand around and let her harm Irene and Bana. "You won't break it," He declared firmly. "You want that necklace too much, and without it all your schemes would go unrealized, wouldn't they? If you destroy it, there won't be any way for you to get another one." He apologized silently to Irene, then lashed out again with his staff, bringing it down on the arm that gripped the necklace, hoping to force her to drop it by striking the right muscles. Yuki nodded slightly, but looked slightly distressed. "I'll tell her, don't worry..." She said quietly, knowing there was nothing more she could do for him. "Rest in peace, old man. We'll take care of Irene for you."

	Mariah was able to move her arm in time. "I merely wanted the necklace to enhance my power. But I guess I'm strong enough already. Irene's the only thing in my way. If she dies, things would be easier for me anyway." Irene sighed a bit, now knowing Bana couldn't hurt her or herself. "Bana, I promise I'll give it back. I just need to find a way to get that charm out of you." The old man smiled. An old tear came to his eye as he smiled. "Thank you." Then he remembered something else. "And one more thing. I predict that Irene will ask you... About a strange emotion. The emotion she will describe is in fact love. Could you tell her this? That what she feels is love?"

	Yuki nodded. "Alright, I'll tell her." She wondered how Irene could not know about love, and who she felt it for. Niko? "Old man, is Irene in love with my little brother?" Niko stopped again. If she was telling the truth, then she really would destroy the necklace. He had to find some way to get it away from her. But how? He glanced at Irene and Bana, unsure of what to do.

	The old man smiled, but before he could respond his eyes glossed over and he bacame limp. The old man was dead. Mariah smiled. "Hesitant? Are you really that scared for Irene, that you would hesitate to stop me?" Mariah kept the necklace firm in her hand. "I wouldn't attack me, Irene has no control of her power... But I do. I'm leaving, with Bana. If you try and stop me I will use Irene's power against you. And if that dosen't work... I could always destroy the very girl your being so hesitant for." Irene was now able to hear Niko and Mariah's conversation. "Don't listen to her Niko! Destroy the necklace if you have to, just don't let her get away with Bana! And please, don't get hurt! I care for you Niko! You and Yuki and Bana... Even at the cost of my life I won't let Mariah hurt either of you!" Mariah laughed. "Irene, you're so naiive. Let me refresh you memory of who you're dealing with!" Mariah took the necklace and it glowed blue. Irene's eyes glowed as well, and the hand holding the bracelet shot some high pressure water. Bana's bracelet fell onto the ground by Bana's feet. Mariah laughed as she forced Irene to the ground on her hands and knees. "I can't move!" Irene yelled. Mariah looked over at Bana. "There you are Bana, you now have your scythe back."

	Bana picked up the bracelet and looked at Mariah then Irene. 'Was it needed to make miss Irene fall? she said she was going to give it back...' Bana stood there holding the bracelet, not turning it into a scythe, as looked at the three of them. 'Grown ups are so confusing. It was easier to figure out what was going on when I hung out with the dead people.'
