You know, I kinda had the idea that this place was more. Active.

It was... Shame that.

Was? What happened for it to become... this?

Just the natural life cycle
of a guild I suppose. A
couple hard tests come
up and people forget they
have RP lives. Shame.
It was really fun, and it
still is during the arcs,
but now it looks like we
might need it a revamp.

I'm not against it, and I
think the revamp of the
power rating system will
help that along.

But beside all that, I'm
not going anywhere if
that makes you feel better.
lol One of the active
non-crew.

Well, we just finished a major arc like a week ago. The biggest/longest one we've done yet actually. The crew put a lot of time, effort and thought into making it work and I think it was pretty fun for the people who were in it. (Correct me if you didn't enjoy it; I won't be offended as long as it's constructive criticism smile ) So right now we're kind of having some down time while we put together what we want to do next. We're still active and throwing ideas around in the crew forum including the power rating system which is still in the works.

Well that is a shame. I had this hope of SER being different. But I guess there is no point fighting this cycle of life.
A revamp shouldn't affect me that much since I just started. But I am curious about this power rating system.
How are they managing it? And how exactly do you plan to make it work? They already tried a rating system on
the last guild I got myself into and they pretty much ignore it. How would this rating system be different?
And don't worry. Non - crew members are vital. More if they are active. After all you can't rely on a crew.
Unless you have around 4 months + you don't actually have any relevance to a crew member. You are
just like the rest of the people who just joined. Kinda harsh, but it is just the Cycle of life here.
Especially if we are talking about large groups. No matter how good you are, you are never going
to keep everyone happy. You need a team that actually commits to serve others and keep their purposes.
But crews nowadays (not saying this one since I haven't met it) forget the importance of
the tittle "Crew" or "Vice Captain" This doesn't mean you can go here and there and do what you please.
It means you also have the obligation to support your guild. Members included but among everyone
the Captain's needs. After all if the captain is not happy with the job. There's no much point to keep
the guild running. Since what kind of crew lets the captain sink?

I'll tell you a little bit about it but since we're still ironing out parts of it I don't want to tell you something now and then have it changed later so this is just a brief overview.

One thing we understand is that forcing a bunch of people to play by a big number game that they don't understand is no fun and can kill a guild really quick. So we decided that the ranking system isn't going to be something the average player has to get into detail with. If someone decides they just want to create a character and rp, that's a-okay. Their character will be considered of normal strength or at most, above normal. However, people who ARE willing to get in depth with the ranking system can do so by specifically requesting to create much stronger characters. They'll have to create their profile according to the rules of the ranking system and get approved; their profile will have to be pretty in-depth and detailed.

The idea behind this is that

1. People who choose to make very powerful characters are mature enough to understand and follow rping rules/etiquette

2. These people are invested enough in creating their character and being part of the guild that they'll most likely remain active

3. Deter anyone who wants to slap together a super-powerful character and go god-mod everyone.

There will be different classes of strength that separate even ranked characters from one another in strength. Based on a still-in-development method, rpers will be able to move up in strength with their ranked rpcs and become stronger.

The only rule the rpers who rp normal characters have to abide by is understanding that they can't beat a ranked character one-on-one. They will have to team up to defeat a character who is ranked. In return, the rpers who are playing ranked characters will (as stated above) be mature enough not to run around just beating the living crap out of everyone else without a rank.

Here's an example of what a ranked character profile will look like.

If you look closely. Particularly at the abilities section.
1) They are based on simple standards. But are all open for creative uses.
2) Provide just enough information as to what they are. But not how can they be used definitively. I also like to give some space for creativity.
3) The story always falls second to your character's set of abilities (I like to write my own story as my character grows with time. Like a diary. Keeps me busy)
4) They are not Partner reliant. Sure they have their skills But they must also have something to defend themselves should something happen and have no partner available or your partner abandons you in the middle of a mission.

Unlike some people I don't like the idea of a partner reliant character as your first character in a guild. Your first character (when you are exploring a type of character : 1rst meister 1rst witch 1rst weapon.) Must be able to be independent. Otherwise you run the risk of getting stuck with no partner. A Bad partner or an incompetent partner.
This last one. Far from being an insult. Sometimes is a reality. I really don't get it why but some people exagerate the weakness of a character or like to play the frail "please support me sempai" uhg. I hate those. But if your character doesn't stand for himself. This partner who is supposed to be the tool or the extra power bust he's supposed to be would become a burden instead and can easily shut down the mood or the mission.
That's why. Ever new member. Despite their rating. Must have an Independent character to begin with.
Take it like... an easy to play role.

Partner reliant. Characters that need to be developed from scratch. The "kouhai" complex characters. Should be banned until the RPer has at least 1 character on a high /descent ranking becore pulling any character of this nature.

This would mean they already have an Idea of what are they doing. And since all the new participants have independent characters. It would be easier to carry them from the larvae to the fully developed character.

So far it doesn't look like it needs much to touch up.
In fact you could even implement it as a test run. By using your "Approved" posts

And mark them as Ranked characters.
No one but a crew member can edit it. That means no one can fake being a ranked character.

Also, I can't help but feel flattered by reading Saint Clara's Bio.

That's what I meant by test run.
1) Gather a bunch of people. Trustworthy or at least active.
2) Set the teams. Decide which one would be ranked and which ones would be normal.
3) Both teams would face 3 diferent missions and 1 final showdown.
The normal team would embark in various adventures taking 2 of the 3 missions available.
While the ranked team would isolate on 1 mission. In which they would be trained to know and comprehend their persons and learn how to make the most of it.

4) In the end we get a showdown. And see how much have the ranked team individuals have truly understood their basis and how well are they able to control themselves. They need at least to fairly knock 3 persons from the normal team while facing the whole Normal team.

This would be just a test to experiment your rating system. Does it work? Is it lacking something? How can we improve it?

Well, we just finished a major arc like a week ago. The biggest/longest one we've done yet actually. The crew put a lot of time, effort and thought into making it work and I think it was pretty fun for the people who were in it.

Huh. You know it's ok to
brag, right? lol Be proud of
yourself, I don't care. XD

Here is my main. You
should probably only read
the last post. I need to do
some cleaning up, but I
think I've done a good job
with describing his fighting
style at least. I have so
much theory in the realm
of martial arts it's scary,
so I think I'll be able to
call anyone out if they think
they can just walk all over
Illo in fisticuffs.

I like this crew. You've
put up with me for an
impressive amount of
time! XD

Looking forward to the
new power rating system
as well. I just can't help
but feel I should add
too much detail to my
characters until I know
how it works...

How much have you figured or expect to figure about your character?

My extremely over-researched
character? I think I have
it all covered. Now, there
are other characters that
are newer and simpler.
Those I don't know about
because I'm not so good
at writing very finite abilities
for characters, I like the
abstract, big ideas instead.

Well I don't want to brag. But why don't you peek at my character's profiles?

If you look closely. Particularly at the abilities section.
1) They are based on simple standards. But are all open for creative uses.
2) Provide just enough information as to what they are. But not how can they be used definitively. I also like to give some space for creativity.
3) The story always falls second to your character's set of abilities (I like to write my own story as my character grows with time. Like a diary. Keeps me busy)
4) They are not Partner reliant. Sure they have their skills But they must also have something to defend themselves should something happen and have no partner available or your partner abandons you in the middle of a mission.
